Радио Љубљана и његове музичке политике 1928–1941

The main programming issue faced by Radio Ljubljana was connected to its function: was it a new medium basically intended for cultural advancement and democratic information distribution or was it a new medium primarily serving as an entertainment platform for different types of listener? The question had been one of the key topics from the beginnings of Radio Ljubljana’s broadcasting in 1928. This paper discusses the answers to this question through an analysis of the musical programming from 1928 until the Luftwaffe destroyed Radio Ljubljana’s transmitter in Domžale on April 11, 1941.Почеци емитовања Радио Љубљане у јесен 1928. године донели су дугорочне новине у пракси музичке продукције и репродукције у Словенији. Радио је, између осталог, увео нов начин слушања музике, а променио је и очекивања слушалаца, што се показало убрзо након почетка емитовања и у самом програмском структурирању емисија. Музички програм је био конципиран прагматички, вођен великим идеализмом десничарске политике католичке Просветне звезе, која је за 15 година закупила у најам емитовање Радио Љубљане. Креирање програма Радио Љубљане пратиле су како економске и техничке, тако и културне потешкоће, почев од премалог броја музичара и техничке опреме, до напетости међу различитим становиштима и укусима (не само у вези с музиком) око питања – која је главна мисија новог медија. Током друге половине тридесетих година и до уништења одашиљача Радија Љубљана у Домжалама 11. априла 1941, креирање програма се променило од примарно едукативног усмерења према ономе намењеном забави. Програм се ослањао на класификацију Ника Курета, који се залагао да се програм подели на: 1. Едукативне садржаје, 2. Музику, 3. Забаву, 4. За младе и 5. Пропагандни програм. Шта је значила та петострука подела за музички програм институције која је почела свој рад са идејом да буде прави „народни универзитетˮ? Анализа указује на четири механизма музичког програмирања током тридесетих година, који су опредељени опозицијама: жива музика / музика са грамофонских плоча, национална / интернационална музика, класична / модерна, уметничка / забавна музика. Ти елементарни концепти се међусобно допуњују и могу се сматрати подједнако важним и у данашње време. Прилог се завршава кратком аналогијом између међуратног периода и периода после 1991. године

З історії розвитку парового флоту України (1928-1958 рр.)

Стаття присвячена характеристиці розвитку буксирного та пасажирського парового флоту України у 1928-1958 роках. Аналізуються склад флоту та особливості окремих суден як у довоєнний (1928-1941 рр.), так і повоєнний (1944-1958 рр.) періоди. Особлива увага приділяється проблемі відновлення флоту після війни за рахунок суден нового покоління з поліпшеними техніко-економічними характеристиками. Відзначається вирішальну роль заводу «Ленінська кузня» у створенні цих суден.Статья посвящена характеристике развития буксирного и пассажирского парового флота Украины в 1928-1958 годах. Анализируются состав флота и особенности отдельных судов как в довоенный (1928-1941 гг.), так и послевоенный (1944-1958 гг.) периоды. Особое внимание уделяется проблеме восстановления флота после войны за счет судов нового поколения с улучшенными технико-экономическими характеристиками. Отмечается решающую роль завода «Ленинская кузница» в создании этих судов.The article is devoted to the development of the towing and passenger steam fleet in Ukraine in 1928-1958, respectively. American Cultural Projection and Policy in Argentina (1928-1941)

El objetivo del artículo es analizar algunos aspectos de los orígenes de la “política cultural” estadounidense en Argentina. La atención se concentrará en el pasaje desde las declaraciones del presidente Hoover, que contribuyeron a favorecer un clima útil y propicio a la intensificación de los intercambios, a los primeros pasos concretos realizados en el periodo de la presidencia de Roosevelt. Se tratará, en particular, de individualizar las características de la cooperación establecida entre organismos estadounidenses y argentinos para favorecer la proyección cultural estadounidense en el país y el intercambio cultural entre Estados Unidos y Argentina, donde se iba intensificando la difusión de un sentimiento anti-imperialista, y que era entonces objetivo de formas de propaganda particularmente agresivas por parte de los regímenes totalitarios.The objective of this article is to analyze some aspects of the origins of the United States’ cultural policy in Argentina. Attention will be focused on the passage from President Hoover’s declarations -that contributed to a favorable and propitious climate for the intensification of interchange- to the first definite steps taken during Roosevelt’s presidency. Specifically, an attempt will be made to individualize the characteristics of the cooperation established between American and Argentine organizations in order to favor the United States’ cultural projection and cultural exchange between the United States and Argentina; a nation where the diffusion of anti-imperialist sentiments was intensifying, and that was the objective of particularly aggressive forms of propaganda by totalitarian regimes

Trim17, novel E3 ubiquitin-ligase, initiates neuronal apoptosis

Accumulating data indicate that the ubiquitin-proteasome system controls apoptosis by regulating the level and the function of key regulatory proteins. In this study, we identified Trim17, a member of the TRIM/RBCC protein family, as one of the critical E3 ubiquitin ligases involved in the control of neuronal apoptosis upstream of mitochondria. We show that expression of Trim17 is increased both at the mRNA and protein level in several in vitro models of transcription-dependent neuronal apoptosis. Expression of Trim17 is controlled by the PI3K/Akt/GSK3 pathway in cerebellar granule neurons (CGN). Moreover, the Trim17 protein is expressed in vivo, in apoptotic neurons that naturally die during post-natal cerebellar development. Overexpression of active Trim17 in primary CGN was sufficient to induce the intrinsic pathway of apoptosis in survival conditions. This pro-apoptotic effect was abolished in Bax(-/-) neurons and depended on the E3 activity of Trim17 conferred by its RING domain. Furthermore, knock-down of endogenous Trim17 and overexpression of dominant-negative mutants of Trim17 blocked trophic factor withdrawal-induced apoptosis both in CGN and in sympathetic neurons. Collectively, our data are the first to assign a cellular function to Trim17 by showing that its E3 activity is both necessary and sufficient for the initiation of neuronal apoptosis.
