World Peace: Rational Idea and Reality On the Principles of Kant's Political Philosophy

Kant's various teachings concerning (world) peace are characterized by a philosophically unique realism. Thereby, they are fundamentally distinguished from all preceding doctrines about peace. This thesis of realism refers to various aspects, respectively levels, of the doctrine, namely: 1) in general to the assumptions of the doctrine of Right3 altogether (ch. II); 2) in particular to the assumptions of the doctrine of eternal peace (chs. III-V); 3) to the recommendations with regard to the realization of eternal peace (chs. VI-XI); 4) to the reasons by which Kant justifies the hope with regard to eternal peace (ch. XII, XIV-XVII); 5) to Kant's strict denial of a specifically political "morals" (ch. XIII-XVII)

Human retinal Müller cells synthesize collagens of the vitreous and vitreoretinal interface in vitro

Purpose: To investigate the capacity of cultured Muller cells to synthesize collagens, since previous studies indicated that Muller cells could be involved in collagen remodeling at the vitreoretinal border in adult human eyes. Methods: Spontaneously immortalized cultured human Muller cells were analyzed for the presence of mRNA of types I-VII, IX, XI, and XVII collagen by RT-PCR. Furthermore, Muller cells were immunocytochemically stained for light microscopic (LM) evaluation of these collagens and their main characteristics. Finally, cell extracts and culture medium were evaluated by western blot (WB) analysis using anticollagen antibodies. Results: Cultured Muller cells contained mRNA for types I-VII, IX, and XI collagen, but not for type XVII collagen. LM and WB confirmed the intracellular expression of all the above-mentioned collagens with the exception of type XVII. Collagen secretion into the medium was established for types I-VII, IX, and XI collagen. Conclusions: Cultured Muller cells can synthesize internal limiting lamina and vitreous collagens. Possible collagen production by Muller cells could explain and expand on previous in vivo morphological findings in the embryonic and postnatal period and in pathologic conditions

Акциональный ономасиологический признак в структуре наименований документов русского делового языка XI–XVII вв.

В статье анализируются наименования документов с акциональным ономасиологическим признаком, отразившиеся в русском деловом языке XI–XVII вв. Выявлены мотивы возникновения таких названий, предложена модель ономасиологической структуры наименований с учетом установления глубинного компонента, входящего в состав ономасиологического признака. Установлены подтипы наименований акционального типа. Библиогр. – 1 назв

MHD Accretion-Disk Winds as X-ray Absorbers in AGNs

We present the 2D ionization structure of self-similar MHD winds off accretion disks around irradiated by a central X-ray source. Based on earlier observational clues and theoretical arguments, we focus our attention on a subset of these winds, namely those with radial density dependence n(r)~1/r. We employ the photoionization code XSTAR to compute the ionic abundances of a large number of ions of different elements and then compile their line-of-sight (LOS) absorption columns. Particular attention is paid to the absorption measure distribution (AMD), namely their Hydrogen-equivalent column per logarithmic ionization parameter \xi interval, d N_H/(d \log \xi), which provides a measure of the winds' radial density profiles. For n(r)~1/r the AMD is found to be independent of \xi, in good agreement with its behavior inferred from the X-ray spectra of several AGNs. For the specific wind structure and X-ray spectrum we also compute detailed absorption line profiles for a number of ions to obtain their LOS velocities, v~100-300 km/sec (at \log \xi~2-3) for Fe XVII and v~1,000-4,000 km/sec (at \log \xi~4-5) for Fe XXV, in good agreement with the observation. Our models describe the X-ray absorption properties of these winds with only two parameters, namely the mass-accretion rate \dot{m} and LOS angle \theta. The probability of obscuration of the X-ray ionizing source in these winds decreases with increasing \dot{m} and increases steeply with \theta. As such, we concur with previous authors that these wind configurations, viewed globally, incorporate all the requisite properties of the parsec scale "torii" invoked in AGN unification schemes. We indicate that a combination of the AMD and absorption line profile observations can uniquely determine these model parameters and their bearing on AGN population demographics.Comment: Accepted to ApJ, 34 pages, 8 figures, 1 tabl
