Каразіна.У статті розглядається можливість використання праць Йосипа Флавія: «Іудейська війна», «Іудейські старожитності» та «Проти Апіона» у якості історичних джерел для вивчення діяльності тріумвіра Марка Антонія та цариці Клеопатри VII. Автор робить висновок, що твори єврейського історика доповнюють свідчення інших античних авторів, його характеристики Антонія та Клеопатри відрізняються від грецько-римської традиції зображення цих історичних постатей. В статье рассматривается возможность использования трудов Иосифа Флавия: «Иудейская война», «Иудейские древности» и «Против Апиона» в качестве исторических источников для изучения деятельности триумвира Марка Антония и царицы Клеопатры VII. Автор делает вывод, что сочинения еврейского историка дополняют свидетельства других античных авторов, его характеристики Антония и Клеопатры отличаются от греко-римской традиции изображения этих исторических личностей. In the article examined usage of the works by Josephus Flavius such as «Jewish War», «Jewish Antiquities», «Contra Apion» as historical sources for research of triumvir Mark Antony and queen Cleopatra VII actions. An author concludes that the works of Jewish historian supplements notes of other ancient authors. His characteristics of Anthony and Cleopatra differ from Greek-Roman tradition of depiction of these historical persons

„Чуже” життя як інтертекст: античні біографії в українській інтерпретації

Проаналізовано основні тенденції інтерпретаціїантичних біографій в українській ліриці 1920–1930-х років. Досліджено роль художніх тлумачень чужого життя в силовому полі зрілого модернізму, виявлено їх типологічні ознаки. Розкрито домінантні для поезії того періоду техніки та прийоми інтеграції античних біографій у текст української культури. Виявлено, що найчастіше інтерпретувалися реально-історичні та літературно-міфічні персонажі античності героїчного та естетикологічного типу, рідше – екзистенційного. Переважає відтворення окремих фрагментів відомих біографій. Наголошено на зв’язку принципів художнього тлумачення античних біографій з ідейно-естетичними засадами творчості та світоглядною позицією окремого митця чи течії (напряму): тип „культуртрегер” превалює в поезії неокласиків,„мандрівний воїн-поет” і маргінал – у неоромантиків, розчарований трагічний „герой” – у символістівПроанализированы основные тенденции интерпретации античных биографий в украинской лирике 1920Ŕ1930-х годов. Исследована роль художественных толкований чужой жизни в силовом поле зрелого модернизма, выявлены их типологические признаки. Раскрыты доминантные для поэзии того периода техники и приемы интеграции античных биографий в текст украинской культуры. Выявлено, что зачастую интерпретировались реально-исторические и литературно-мифические персонажи античности героического и эстетикологического типа, реже экзистенциального. Преобладает воспроизведение отдельных фрагментов известных биографий.Отмечено связь принципов художественного истолкования античных биографий с идейно-эстетическими принципами творчества и мировоззренческой позицией отдельного автора или течения (направления): тип „культуртрегер” превалирует в поэзии неоклассиков, „странствующий поэт-воин” и маргинал Ŕ неоромантиков, разочарованный трагический „герой” у символистовThe article analyses the main interpretation tendencies of the antique biographies in Ukrainian lyrics of 1920Ŕ1930s. The role of artistic connotations of someone else’s life in a force field of mature modernism has been studied, the typological characteristics of thede connotations have been discovered,those common for the symbolistic (Pavlo Tychyna) and neoclassic interpretation models of the antique text in partiqular (Eugen Malaniuk and “Kyiv” neoclassics). The dominant techniques and methods of integration of the antique biographies into the text have been revealed. They are citations, allusions, reminiscences,transformation of manes into images-symbols, adding to and transformation of traditional biography plots and so on. It was uncovered that historically real and literary-mythical antique characters of heroical andaesthetical types are the most often interpreted ones, with existential types to the lesser degree. The connection of principles of artistic interpretation of antique biographies with idea-aesthetical principles of creativity and worldview of a given author or tendency is emphasized.Thus, appealing to the life facts of antique figures, Eugen Malaniuk creates his own historiosophical concept. In poetry by neoclassics the biography fragments figures of the antique culture are replicated, thus the type “culturetrigger” prevails. The disappointed tragical “hero” prevail in symbolists’ works. Moreover, in Tychyna’s works “biography” of the myth figure transformation as well as rethinking of the antique concept of “heroic”. Прецедентні феномени як засіб вираження іронії (на матеріалі твору Х. Конзаліка «Гірко-солодкий сьомий рік») (Precedent phenomena as a means of expressing irony (based on work of H. Konzalik «Bitter-sweet seventh year»))

Стаття присвячена проблемі розуміння поняття іронії та вираження її через прецедентні феномени. На матеріалі твору німецької літератури виявлено та проаналізовано прецедентні феномени, з допомогою яких автор твору створює іронічний ефект. (Various approaches to understanding the concept of irony are considered in this article. On the material of work of H. Konzalik «Bitter-sweet seventh year» were identified and analyzed precedent phenomena with which the author creates an ironic effect. To study the linguistic-stylistic irony manifestations at different levels of language it is appropriate to use division of irony according to the context: the situational and associative. Associative irony depends on the text presupposition of a global nature, extralinguistic and intertextual presupposition. One of the ways to create irony is the use of precedent phenomena. In this study irony is created by the effect of exaggeration, that appears as a comparison of historical events and persons with ordinary events and people. On the examples we have demonstrated the creation of ironic effect through precedent phenomena: precedent names Caeser and Cleopatra and the precedent situation. In the analyzed fragments of novel of H. Konzalik «Bitter-sweet seventh year» as precedent names used world-famous names Caesar and Cleopatra, which caused no problems with decoding, just created reference to the precedent situation – transportation of Cleopatra made us search for information in historical references. Our investigation s howed that irony is a complex multi-level phenomenon, a special form of emotional, comical, critical attitude to reality.

Shakespeare's Wordplay and Possible Worlds

Shakespeare’s Wordplay and Possible Worlds proposes a novel possible-world approach to the complex interpretative potential of Shakespeare’s wordplay. The approach is based on the observation that in Shakespeare multiple significations of ambiguous words or syntactic structures often cohere with other apparently unambiguous words or syntactic structures and thus project parallel cognitive scenarios. Therefore, the use of possible worlds as cognitive tools allows the exploration of such scenarios in their broadest context and, at the same time, provides insight into the conceptual blending that occurs between and among them. The book demonstrates the utility of the proposed theoretical construct for textual and cultural analysis in three illustrative case studies
