Solar activity, magnetic clouds, and geomagnetic storms

Associational aspects of magnetic clouds and solar activity, and of magnetic clouds and geomagentic storms are described. For example, recent research has shown associations to exist between the launch of magnetic clouds directed Earthward from the Sun and, in particular, two forms of solar activity: flare-related, type II metric radio bursts and disappearing filaments (prominences). Furthermore, recent research has shown an association to exist between the onset of magnetic clouds on Earth and the initiation of geomagnetic storms. Based on these findings, STIP Intervals XV-XIX are examined for possible occurrences of Earthward-directed magnetic clouds

Шляхом аналізу програми, за якою відбувалося вивчення української літератури у 5–9 класах загальноосвітніх навчальних закладів протягом 2009–2010 н.р., низки документів, що в той чи інший спосіб тлумачать програму, та шкільних підручників, рекомендованих МОН України, визначається глибина та межі знань, які може отримати український школяр про давній період розвитку української літератури. Стаття містить конкретні рекомендації щодо розширення програми у частині, яка стосується латиномовного періоду української літератури, та доповнення програми творами, що були написані латинською мовою протягом XV–XIX ст. та належать до української літератури.Путем анализа программы, согласно которой осуществлялось изучение украинской литературыу в 5–9 классах общеобразовательных учебных заведений на протяжении 2009–2010 уч.г., а также ряда документов, которые определенным образом толкуют программу, школьных учебников, рекоммендованых МОН Украины, определяется глубина и границы знаний, которые может получить українский школьник о давнем периоде развития украинской литературы. Статья содержит конкретные рекоммендации по расширению программы в части, касающейся латиноязычного периода украинской литературы, а также дополнения программы произведениями, написанными на латинском языке в XV–XIX ст. и относящимися к украинской литературе.The depth and scope of knowledge that can acquire Ukrainian pupil about the ancient period of Ukrainian literature development is defined through analysis of Ukrainian literature study program for 5–9 forms of general education institutions for 2009–2010, a number of documents that somehow or other interpret the program as well as schoolbooks recommended by Ministry of education and science of Ukraine. The article presents specific recommendations regarding extension of the program in the part that pertains to Ukrainian literature Latin speaking period and addition of works created in Latin during XV–XIX centuries that belonged to Ukrainian literature

Колыбель в традиционном болгарском жилище XV-XIX вв.

In the traditional Bulgarian home, the cradle is the only object that is used from the birth of the baby until the child's relative integration in the adult world. Two main types of cradles have been preserved until the present time, which are easily recognizable in terms of their appearance and shape, function, material, design, and adornments. We could define these two types as “village” and “town” cradles. The text studies examples of such specimens: images in church art and exhibits in museum collections from the period under review. The analysis pays special attention on the cradles' being a specific part of the female space in the home. The analysed cradles are represented in different shapes and appearance, functions and modes of use. Similar to other objects from the past, the cradle is an interesting object for scholars from different disciplines: ethnographers, ethnologists, art critics and designers. Special emphasis is paid on the simplicity, elegance, mobility, and easy adaptability to different functions and needs of the analysed Balkan specimens

The literary structure of 1QM

Previous research on the Qumran scrolls, and in particular, IQM, has only recently involved the use of the most stringent literary - and form - critical techniques. These are of great value to Qumran studies; the history of the sect and its ideas can be learnt only when the texts are properly understood. IQM has been recognised by most scholars as a composite work, and XV-XIX has long been regarded as a unit. To this must be added II-IX which also comprises a single document. Both these documents are themselves composite. II-IX is a war-rule written in the Hasmonean period, and drawing on sources which originated in the Maccabean and immediate post Maccabean period. XV-XIX is a dualistic war-rule, which has developed from an earlier non-dualistic rule, of which col. XIV, 2-16a represents a small fragment. Cols. X-XII consist of a collection of liturgical pieces which have been found to reflect a Maccabean context in many cases. Col. XIII represent a fragment of liturgy probably associated with a covenant ceremony. Cols. II-IX, X-XII, XIII, XIV, and XV-XIX were collected and probably copied together; XV, 4-6a seems to refer to two documents which were independent at the time of writing, but have subsequently been incorporated into IQM - these are identified as II-IX and X-XII. XIII and XIV existed as fragments when they were brought together with the rest of the material from cols. II-IX, X-XII and XV-XIX. XV-XIX probably attained its present form in the second half of the first century B.C. In the first half of the first century A.D. a compiler produced from the collected documents a war-rule which included an introduction (col. I) written by the compiler. The final result is the War Scroll, the manuscript of which was written soon after the composition (= IQM). Its purpose is to prepare for the imminent war against the Romans

Статтю присвячено проблемам класифікації та змісту символіки, нанесеної на клинках й ефесах холодної зброї, її значення для атрибуції окремих зразків. Роботу виконано на прикладах експонатів, що зберігаються в Харківському державному історичному музеї та Національному музеї історії України (м. Київ). Детально проаналізовано символіку гербів та гмерків, епіграфіку релігійного, уславлюючого та містичного змісту, а також орнаментацію зброї XV–XIX ст.Статья посвящена проблемам классификации и содержания символики, нанесенной на клинках и эфесах холодного оружия, ее значения для атрибуции некоторых образцов. Работа выполнена на примере экспонатов, хранящихся в Харьковском государственном историческом музее и Национальном музее истории Украины (г. Киев). Детально проанализировано символику гербов и гмерков, епиграфику религиозного, прославляющего и мистического содержания, а также орнаментацию оружия XV–XIX вв.The article covers the issues of classification and content of sword arms symbols and their importance as attribution of certain models. Fishes of the Mountain Province Section of the Ouachita River

A survey of the fishes of the mountain province section of the Ouachita River from the headwaters to Remmel Dam using field collections, literature records, and museum collections showed the ichthyofauna to be made up of 80 species representing 16 families. Fourteen species not previously reported from the mountain province section of the river were collected in this survey. These species include Ichthyomyzon gagei, Nocomis asper, Notropis ortenburgeri, N. rubellus, Pimephales promelas, Moxostoma carinatum, Noturus taylori, Fundulus notatus, Lepomis humilis, Etheostoma histrio, E. proeliare, Percina maculata, P. nasuta, and P. uranidea. The Nocomis specimens were the first collected from the Ouachita River system and the discovery of Noturus taylori represents a major range extension
