The lack of public information on how to invest tobe a major cause of the lack of public interest on capitalmarket investment. Besides of that, for the certaininstrument such as mutual funds of society will getdifficulty in judging and choosing the mutual funds whichbe able to give optimal performance and benefit influencesthe slowness of mutual funds development.Result from this research activity is for finding themeasurement of the performance mutual funds stock byusing stage of stock rotation and stage of stock mutual fundwhich is made to be a accounting management informationsystem and financial. With this stock mutual fundperformance measurement model so that can be tool ofimportant information for investor, society about theinvestment will have good potency of financial and themajor elements causeof the performance of that mutualfunds in capital market. Therefore, society can value andchoose mutual fund which be able to give performance andoptimalization in benefit especially in capital market.Explanatory research, this research has the goal to explainthe relationship between the research variable through thehypotheses based on the data, such as: rotation stage andrisk stage concerning the stock of mutual fund performance.Multiple regression analysis will be used to test the effectof two or more independent variables on the dependentvariable . independent variable in this research is rotationstage and risk stage. Meanwhile in independent variable isthe stock mutual fund performance. The research result forthe simulation of measuring stock of mutual funds model,to measure the stock mutual funds performance

An optimization model for metabolic pathways

This article is available open access through the publisher’s website through the link below. Copyright @ The Author 2009.Motivation: Different mathematical methods have emerged in the post-genomic era to determine metabolic pathways. These methods can be divided into stoichiometric methods and path finding methods. In this paper we detail a novel optimization model, based upon integer linear programming, to determine metabolic pathways. Our model links reaction stoichiometry with path finding in a single approach. We test the ability of our model to determine 40 annotated Escherichia coli metabolic pathways. We show that our model is able to determine 36 of these 40 pathways in a computationally effective manner. Internet media planning : an optimization model

    Get PDF
Of the various media vehicles available for advertising, the internet is the latest and the most rapidly growing, emerging as the ideal medium to promote products and services in the global market. In this article, the authors propose an internet media planning model whose main objective is to help advertisers determine the return they obtain from spending on internet advertising. Using available data such as internet page view and advertising performance data, the model contributes to attempts not only to optimize the internet advertising schedule but also to fix the right price for internet advertisements on the basis of the characteristics of the exposure distribution of sites. The authors test the model with data provided by KoreanClick, a Korean market research company that specializes in internet audience measurement. The optimal durations for the subject sites provide some useful insights. The findings contrast with current web media planning practices, and the authors demonstrate the potential savings that could be achieved if their approach were applied.media planning; optimization; advertising repeat exposure; probability distribution; internet

Combinatorial optimization model for railway engine assignment problem

    Get PDF
This paper presents an experimental study for the Hungarian State Railway Company (M\'AV). The engine assignment problem was solved at M\'AV by their experts without using any explicit operations research tool. Furthermore, the operations research model was not known at the company. The goal of our project was to introduce and solve an operations research model for the engine assignment problem on real data sets. For the engine assignment problem we are using a combinatorial optimization model. At this stage of research the single type train that is pulled by a single type engine is modeled and solved for real data. There are two regions in Hungary where the methodology described in this paper can be used and M\'AV started to use it regularly. There is a need to generalize the model for multiple type trains and multiple type engines

Supply optimization model in the hierarchical geographically distributed organization

The strategic importance of the procurement function in the large organizations management requires using effective tools by the logistics management to justify decisions in the supply process. The architecture features of hierarchical geographically distributed organizations allow the use of a hybrid supply scheme that rationally combines the advantages of centralized and decentralized purchasing and supply management (PSM). The article suggests a supply optimization model in the hierarchical geographically distributed organization (HGDO), reflecting the features of a complex, multifactorial and multi-stage procurement process. The model allows to find the optimal options for purchasing and supplying products for the criterion of minimizing the total logistics costs that characterize this process for the entire period of planning HGDO logistics support, taking into account the values of the various parameters of participants and the logistics functions of the procurement process over each period of time. The model is an effective tool for supporting and coordinating decisions made by logistics managers at different levels of management of HGDO based on numerous options for purchasing and supplying products and their budgeting in conditions of the dynamics and diversity of internal and external factors of influence

An optimization model to sequence wine flow through the production process is developed. The model is formulated as a mixed integer program and accounts for winemaking specifications, market conditions, grape availability, and tank capacity. An empirical example is provided to demonstrate results and uses of the model.Agribusiness,

Rehabilitation of a water distribution system using sequential multiobjective optimization models

    Get PDF
Identification of the optimal rehabilitation plan for a large water distribution system (WDS) with a substantial number of decision variables is a challenging task, especially when no supercomputer facilities are available. This paper presents an initiative methodology for the rehabilitation of WDS based on three sequential stages of multiobjective optimization models for gradually identifying the best-known Pareto front (PF). A two-objective optimization model is used in the first two stages where the objectives are to minimize rehabilitated infrastructure costs and operational costs. The optimization model in the first stage applies to a skeletonized WDS. The PFs obtained in Stage 1 are further improved in Stage 2 using the same two-objective optimization problem but for the full network. The third stage employs a three-objective optimization model by minimizing the cost of additional pressure reducing valves (PRVs) as the third objective. The suggested methodology was demonstrated through use of a real and large WDS from the literature. Results show the efficiency of the suggested methodology to achieve the optimal solutions for a large WDS in a reasonable computational time. Results also suggest the minimum total costs that will be obtained once maximum leakage reduction is achieved due to maximum possible pipeline rehabilitation without increasing the existing tanks
