Simulating Behavior Pattern of Key Performance Indicators to Improve Organization’s Safety Performance in Maritime Transport
Safety performance management is at the core of safety management system (SMS) in any organization. Managing organization\u27s safety performance in maritime transport is achieved through the identification of key performance indicators (KPIs), which are used to monitor and measure safety performance. Aim of this paper is to determine how behavior pattern of key performance indicators (KPIs) in the organization, can be simulated. Methods used for this research include methods of gathering, describing, and analyzing key performance indicators data of sample organization, as well as statistics, causal modeling, and simulation. Results show behavior pattern of key performance indicators (KPIs) in the organization due to causal impact of certain key performance indicator. In conclusion, the simulation showed how causal modeling techniques can be useful to simulate behavior pattern of key performance indicators (KPIs) in the organization in order to improve organization’s safety performance
D6.1 (WP6): Key performance indicators (KPIs)
The project “Social network tools and procedures for developing entrepreneurial skills in PhD programmes” (prodPhD) aims to implement innovative social network-based methodologies for teaching and learning entrepreneurship in PhD programmes. The multidisciplinary teaching and learning methodologies to be developed will enable entrepreneurship education to be introduced into any PhD programme, providing students with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to engage in entrepreneurial activities. However, the use of the output of the project will depend on the nature and profile of the research or scientific field. In this context, key performance indicators (KPIs) form the base on which the quality and scope of the methodologies developed in the project will be quantified and benchmarked.
The project’s final product will be an online tool that higher education students can use to learn entrepreneurship from a social network perspective. Performance measurement is one of the first steps of any project and involves the choice and use of indicators to measure the effectiveness and success of the project’s methods and results. All the KPIs have been selected according to criteria of relevance, measurability, reliability, and adequacy, and they cover the process, dissemination methods, and overall quality of the project. In this document, each KPI is defined together with the units and instruments for measuring it. In the case of qualitative KPIs, five-level Likert scales are defined to improve indicator measurability and reliability.
The KPIs for prodPhD are divided into three main dimensions, depending on the stage of the project they evaluate. The three main dimensions are performance and development (which are highly related to the project’s process), dissemination and impact (which are more closely correlated with the project’s output), and overall project quality. Different sources (i.e., European projects and papers) have been drawn upon to define a set of 51 KPIs classified into six categories, according to the project phase they aim to evaluate. An Excel tool has been developed that collects all the KPIs analysed in the production of this document. This tool is shared in the Scipedia repository
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the Change Management of Public Administration
This paper is part of my progress work within the research topic focused on change management process in the public administration. The aim will be describing some specific and crucial milestones of this challenging process. Change is inevitable and a continuous process if we want to improve our public administration. If we refer to change management the first element we cross through is the concept of a new system, regulation, structure ect. While introducing the change, we have to take care not only to the context, to the typology of the process, its factors and actors. The most important is considering the successful results in the mean of facing and applying it. But how can we define this success in the terms of public administration? Which can be some measurements to use in order to evaluate the performance of change management? How is performance management linked to an effective, efficient or a viable change management? I will try to answer to these concerns, through explaining further the general key indicators of determining performance in public administration in order to lead a successful process of managing the change
Transnational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Sustainable Development
Chaotic assessment of the key performance indicators for a GSM Network congestion in an election period in Nigeria
This paper investigates the chaos-based assessment of the Key performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Cellular network congestion during and after 2011 People Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election in Eagle Square within Abuja and its environs. Chaotic quantifiers such as average mutual information, Lyapunov exponents and specific attenuation were employed to study the congestion rate or dynamical state of the network. The chaotic assessment of the Wideband Code Division Multiplexing Access (WCDMA) data services provided by MTN network using KPIs are reported. The data retrieved from the three Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) were used to analyse the performance of the network. The results revealed the state of dynamical behaviour of the congestion during the study period.

Comprehensive performance assessment and public services improvement in England? A case study of the benefits administration service in local government
The purpose of this paper is to independently evaluate the impact of the Comprehensive Performance Assessment regime on one particular public service, namely the provision of Council Tax and Housing Benefits distributed by local authorities throughout the course of the regime. This service was assessed in every iteration of the CPA methodologies and it included one of the few key performance indicators (KPIs) where the definition of the performance indicator, the means of collection and the public reporting of its results, remained the same throughout the CPA period between 2002 and 2008
BENCHMARKING THE PERFORMANCE OF MALAYSIA’S CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
Malaysia’s construction industry particularly the provision of public infrastructure projects faces various debatable issues of the government’s belt-tightening budget, abandoned public projects, shoddy workmanship, over-budgeted project procurement and unresolved debts in public project provision. The current global economic downturns as well as the fluctuation in the oil prices worldwide have exacerbated the situation. Thus, in materialising the efficiency, accountability for performance, productivity and monetary policy set in confronting those controversial issues, several actions have been undertaken by Malaysian government including strengthening approval procedures, restructuring the implementation process, enhancing viability through risk distribution, reinforcing the institutional and regulatory framework as well as increasing Bumiputera participation in public infrastructure projects. Yet, these endeavours seem not to be the best solution in tackling those problems. Hence, there is a need of benchmarking the performance of Malaysia’s construction industry especially the provision of public infrastructure projects by clearly stipulating the standard regular evaluation and audition through a performance measurement technique known as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This paper provides a literature review of the philosophical, conceptual and functions of KPIs in improvising Malaysia’s construction industry performance. The literature will guide the development of KPIs for the assessment of public infrastructure project provision in Malaysia which forms the major part of the research undertaken.Benchmark, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Public Infrastructure Provision, Malaysia
Feasibility Study of Enabling V2X Communications by LTE-Uu Radio Interface
Compared with the legacy wireless networks, the next generation of wireless
network targets at different services with divergent QoS requirements, ranging
from bandwidth consuming video service to moderate and low date rate machine
type services, and supporting as well as strict latency requirements. One
emerging new service is to exploit wireless network to improve the efficiency
of vehicular traffic and public safety. However, the stringent packet
end-to-end (E2E) latency and ultra-low transmission failure rates pose
challenging requirements on the legacy networks. In other words, the next
generation wireless network needs to support ultra-reliable low latency
communications (URLLC) involving new key performance indicators (KPIs) rather
than the conventional metric, such as cell throughput in the legacy systems. In
this paper, a feasibility study on applying today's LTE network infrastructure
and LTE-Uu air interface to provide the URLLC type of services is performed,
where the communication takes place between two traffic participants (e.g.,
vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian). To carry out this study, an
evaluation methodology of the cellular vehicle-to-anything (V2X) communication
is proposed, where packet E2E latency and successful transmission rate are
considered as the key performance indicators (KPIs). Then, we describe the
simulation assumptions for the evaluation. Based on them, simulation results
are depicted that demonstrate the performance of the LTE network in fulfilling
new URLLC requirements. Moreover, sensitivity analysis is also conducted
regarding how to further improve system performance, in order to enable new
emerging URLLC services.Comment: Accepted by IEEE/CIC ICCC 201
