A New Family of Boundary-Domain Integral Equations for a Mixed Elliptic BVP with Variable Coefficient
A mixed boundary value problem for the stationary heat transfer partial differential equation with variable coefficient is reduced to some systems of direct segregated parametrix-based Boundary-Domain Integral Equations (BDIEs). We use a parametrix different from the one employed by Mikhailov (2002) and Chkadua, Mikhailov, Natroshvili (2009). Mapping properties of the potential type integral operators appearing in these equations are presented in appropriate Sobolev spaces. We prove the equivalence between the original BVP and the corresponding BDIE system. The invertibility and Fredholm properties of the boundary-domain integral operators are also analysed

Too hot to handle? Analytic solutions for massive neutrino or warm dark matter cosmologies
We obtain novel closed-form solutions to the Friedmann equation for cosmological models containing a component whose equation of state is that of radiation (w =1/3) at early times and that of cold pressureless matter (w=0) at late times. The equation of state smoothly transitions from the early- to late-time behaviour and exactly describes the evolution of a species with a Dirac delta function distribution inmomentum magnitudes | p0| (i.e. all particles have the same | p0|). Such a component, here termed 'hot matter', is an approximate model for both neutrinos and warm dark matter. We consider it alone and in combination with cold matter and with radiation, also obtaining closed-form solutions for the growth of superhorizon perturbations in each case. The idealized model recovers t(a) to better than 1.5 per cent accuracy for all a relative to a Fermi-Dirac distribution (as describes neutrinos). We conclude by adding the second moment of the distribution to our exact solution and then generalizing to include all moments of an arbitrary momentum distribution in a closed-form solution

High-order full discretization for anisotropic wave equations
Two-dimensional linear wave equation in anisotropic media, on a rectangular domain with initial conditions and periodic boundary conditions, is considered. The energy of the problem is contemplated. The space discretization is reached by means of finite differences on a uniform grid, paying attention to the mixed derivative of the equation. The discrete energy of the semi-discrete problem is introduced. For the time integration of the system of ordinary differential equations obtained, a fourth order exponential splitting method, which is a geometric integrator, is proposed. This time integrator is efficient and easy to implement. The stability condition for time step and space step ratio is deduced. Numerical experiments displaying the good behavior in the long time integration and the efficiency of the numerical solution are provided.MTM2015-66837-P del Ministerio de Economía y Competitivida
Moral reasoning and judgment in childhood. Relations to mind understanding and peer acceptance
Abstract de póster presentado a First meeting of the SEJyD (Society for the Advancement of Judgment and Decision Making Studies)Children’s moral reasoning on compliance and rules violation, and their moral judgments, are linked to the development of their “theory of mind”. Greater ability to attribute mental states (intentions, knowledge and emotions) enable to base the attribution of responsibility, and judgment on the degree of punishment deserved, not only on the outcome of the action (harmful or not), but also on the intent to cause damage. This effect could vary depending on whether: a) the rule transgressed is a social conventional rule or a moral rule, b) the damage is physical-material or psychological-emotional. Moreover, understanding of other minds and moral reasoning that children make about the actions of others appears to be a key element in their degree of popularity and social impact.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the developmental relationship between child moral reasoning, understanding of other minds and degree of acceptance by their peers. Participants were 89 children from 4 to 13 years; they were administered: a battery of stories that assessed moral reasoning abilities, a battery of “theory of mind” tasks, peer-nomination inventory.
Results show that by 6 years of age begin differences in mind understanding and moral reasoning and judgment among children of the same age: popular and average distinguish between accidental and deliberate transgression (although up to 8 years all children believe that both deserve to be punished); only rejected children consider that the transgression of conventional norms does not deserve punishment; their moral judgments are not different for physical damage than for psychological-emotional damage. By age 8 differences between popular and rejected children in their mind understanding ability and moral reasoning are increased, especially in situations of accidental damage.
Children’s moral reasoning ability may have important implications for their social relationships and positive peer interactions.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tec
Near conserving energy numerical schemes for two-dimensional coupled seismic wave equations
Two-dimensional coupled seismic waves, satisfying the equations of linear isotropic elasticity, on a rectangular domain with initial conditions and periodic boundary conditions, are considered. A quantity conserved by the solution of the continuous problem is used to check the numerical solution of the problem. Second order spatial derivatives, in the x direction, in the y direction and mixed derivative, are approximated by finite differences on a uniform grid. The ordinary second order in time system obtained is transformed into a first order in time system in the displacement and velocity vectors. For the time integration of this system, second order and fourth order exponential splitting methods, which are geometric integrators, are proposed. These explicit splitting methods are not unconditionally stable and the stability condition for time step and space step ratio is deduced. Numerical experiments displaying the good behavior in the long time integration and the efficiency of the numerical solution are provided.MTM2015-66837-P del Ministerio de Economía y Competitivida
