How to change a shrimp into an intelligent drug carrier?

    Get PDF
Design of hybrid systems (structures composed of a carrier and pharmacological agent) for controlled release inside the body is a major direction in creation of new forms of drugs. These novel drug carriers should possess better accessibility and effectiveness with limited side-effects. The main purpose of this study was to construct a new form of chitosan carrier with the ability to transform from sol to gel at the physiological temperature of human body. Controlled drug release systems were formed by mixing b-sodium glycerophosphate with the solutions of chitosan glutaminate

    Otyłość a jakość życia dziecka

Wieloma dziedzinami życia współczesnego człowieka rządzi tradycja i stereotypy. (...

Faulty body posture amongst pupils in primary education

    Get PDF
This article raises the subject of health risks amongst children in primary education caused by faulty body posture. The first part of the article mentions the characteristics of health prevention followed by a short description of child age development in ontogenesis and defects and causes associated with this period of time. To conclude, the results of research (a survey) conducted in a primary school are presented

One theory – two research inspirations: A report from the research carried out with using theoretical and methodological approach of Howard E. Gruber

The aim of this article is to present the main thesis of the theory: The Evolving Systems Approach to Creative Work developed by an American psychologist Howard E. Gruber and his co-workers and students. The authors of the study, inspired by this approach, use it in their individually carried out research to outline the theoretical framework of it, define study cases and draft explanations and interpretations of the experiences of the researched persons in individually conducted research on the creative work of Polish female directors and academic teachers implementing new didactic solutions into the students’ education process. The authors present in the article excerpts of the report on the process of analysis and interpretation of data from qualitative interviews and analysis of documents related to creative work of the research participants.Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie głównych założeń teorii The Evolving Systems Approach to Creative Work wypracowanego przez amerykańskiego psychologa Howarda E. Grubera i jego współpracowników oraz uczniów. Autorki opracowania zainspirowane tym podejściem wykorzystują je w swoich badaniach do nakreślenia ram teoretycznych, zdefiniowania przypadków oraz wyjaśnienia i interpretacji doświadczeń badanych osób w prowadzonych indywidualnie badaniach, dotyczących twórczej pracy polskich reżyserek i nauczycieli akademickich wdrażających nowe rozwiązania dydaktyczne do procesu kształcenia ze studentami. Autorki przedstawiają w artykule fragmenty relacji z procesu analizy i interpretacji danych pochodzących z wywiadów jakościowych oraz analizy dokumentów związanych z twórczą pracą badanych osób

The mineralization effect on chitosan hydrogel structure containing collagen and alkaline phosphatase

    Get PDF
Introducing collagen the basic ingredient of bone tissue into the structure of chitosan gels that are formed at physiological body temperature, aims to create so-called biomimetic structures, which are close in composition to the natural composition of bone tissue. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of mineralization on the structural properties of thermosensitive chitosan-collagen gels containing alkaline phosphatase (ALP) by SEM, XRD FTIR and XPS analyses, compared to the previously presented structure of chitosan-collagen gels before mineralization

Characterization of water state in chitosan hydrogel membranes

    No full text
In this study, the structure of hydrogel chitosan membranes was investigated. To determine the structure of hydrogel membranes the Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) was used. On the basis of DSC spectra the enthalpy of the character of water in the structure were determined

SARS-COV-2 – The latest global threat and the prospect of COVID-19 therapy with the use of chitosan

    No full text
Epidemics of infectious diseases have always been a threat to humanity and have contributed to increased mortality in the affected areas. This also applies to a new species of coronavirus identified in 2019, SARS-CoV-2, which is responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite preventive measures implemented all over the world to minimise the spread of the pathogen as well as the development of vaccines, which have been approved for emergency use, the situation is still worrying. Moreover, the problem is exacerbated by the lack of targeted treatments for COVID-19 patients. One possible solution is the using preparations based on natural raw materials, including chitosan. This biopolymer is of great interest due to a number of unique biological properties, among which its antiviral effect is a key feature. Hence, this paper presents the application possibilities of chitosan-based solutions in the prevention and treatment of viral diseases, with particular emphasis on COVID-19

Synthesis of silver nanoparticles in a chitosan solution

    No full text
In the present study silver nanoparticles were obtained using the ability of chitosan to form chelate compounds with metal ions and taking advantage of its reducing properties. The reduction process was conducted at the temperature 60°C or applying γ radiation from 60Co cobalt source. A preliminary characteristic which allows us to realize the size of formed silver nanoparticles was made on the basis of the measurements of UV absorption and dynamic light dispersion

Biological properties of thermosensitive chitosan gels conditioning in water

    No full text
In this paper the properties of thermosensitive chitosan hydrogels prepared with the use of chitosan salz (chloride and lactate) and -glycerophosphate are presented. Biological studies were carried out on thermogels without conditioning in water and on thermogels after 24 h conditioning in water. Experiments were conducted on a reference cell line L 929 (NCTC clone 929) American Type Culture Collection according to Annex C PN-EN ISO 10993-
