This thesis presents a review of speed limit on a straight road that relate with road accidents. The main objectives of this study are to investigate excessive speed that can cause road accidents and to recommend appropriate measures for road safety improvement. This study focused on the straight road which is along MEC Highway start from FR222 Access Road to Gambang Toll. This spot speed study was conducted in six days by using radar gun to record the speed based on type of vehicles that passing through on this road. The type of road on this location is Federal Road and area type is Rural categorized as R5. From this study, the result that have obtained able to show the 15 th , 50th 85 th and 95 th speed percentile from the cumulative frequency distribution curves graph. The speed limit that has been set by Department of Work (JKR) on this road is 90 km/hr. The result of this study shows that the highest frequency of vehicle most in speed group 90-99 km/hr. Speed limit that have been obtained from six points on this location of study are 3.62km/br,93.80km/br,98.46km/hr,101.67km/br, 99.74km/br, and 86.02km/hr. The average speed that obtained at six points on this study location is most over the speed limit allowed. The number of drivers that drive over the speed limit is more than the number of drivers that drive under the speed limit. This situation occur maybe due to nonexistence of speed limit signboard and condition of straight road that make drivers tend to drive at excessive speed that can cause road accidents. Suggestions to placement the speed limit signboard, warning to slow down speed signboard and Automated Enforcement System (AES) have been proposed for road safety and accident free in Malaysia

Among the Malaysian public, there exists an ignorance of the existence of a special court in dealing with juvenile offenders. Most people think that these juvenile offenders are dealt by the same court that deals with adult offenders. This ignorance should not go unchecked. Therefore the purpose of my writing this paper is to make known to the public, the 'behind-the-scenes' of a Juvenile Court. To achieve a more realistic understanding of this topic, I have make special references to the Kuala Lumpur Juvenile Court, the welfare Department of Wilayah Persekutuan and other relevant authorities which deals with juvenile problems. The thread of analysis of this paper will touch on the practice and procedure adopted by the Juvenile Court from the time a child or a young person is apprehended by the police until his case is determined by the court, acting in pursuant to the provisions of the Juvenile Courts Act, 1947

This thesis presented about the fatigue life of the material, which is focus on aluminium alloy. There are some important analysis needs to be done including stress analysis, and also fatigue analysis. People might prefer predict the fatigue life of aluminium alloy using experimental approach. But in this thesis, it comes out with different ways, by using software. The software used is MSC PATRAN with MSC NASTRAN as a solver and MSC Fatigue. The model is developed using the SOLIDWORKS. The results from initial analysis will be proceeding with second analysis which is fatigue simulation. Finally, the crack growth graph will be constructed. The effect of stress ranges of aluminium alloys on fatigue crack growth rate was simulated using the Compact Tension specimen as a model. The Fatigue Crack Growth curve, da/dn as a function of stress intensity factor, ΔK was plotted in order to analyze the crack growth properties of aluminium alloys. It has been done using MSC FATIGUE software. 4 different stress ranges were selected in range (4-10) kN in order to investigate the effect of stress range on crack growth rates. The model were simulated by means of Mode I loading in constant temperature and frequency. The constant value of C and gradient, m according to Modified Paris Law equation, are 1.2E-10 and 4.06 respectively. The life cycle graph (S-N curve) of aluminium alloy under this simulation will be compared to the established life cycle graph. It was show that the aluminium alloys have endurance limit of 95MPa

Results of the analysis carried out shows the three leadership styles do not have a significant relationship with the creativity of employees. All leadership styles tested in this study have negative relationship with employee creativity except laissez-faire leadership style which has positive relationship. The study also found that all three leadership styles did not significantly influence the creativity of workers and there was no different level of employee creativity based on demographic factors

DEVELOPMENT OF TRANSMITTER FOR SEABED LOGGING (SBL) IN REAL AND SCALED ENVIRONMENT

    Get PDF
Electromagnetic (EM) technology called Seabed Logging (SBL) has recently been used for hydrocarbon exploration. Seabed logging (SBL) is an application of marine controlled source electromagnetic (CSEM) method which is used to detect the location of oil reservoir. A recently developed transmitter IS usmg Horizontal Electric Dipole (HED) transmitter 1=1 on electromagnetic (EM) surveying technique. The technique has proven particularly useful for detecting thin and highly resistive layers of hydrocarbon reservoirs. However, to detect the hydrocarbon reservoirs at very deep seawater still remains a challenge. There are many limitations of the conventional HED transmitter in terms of depth penetration for deep target (~2.5km). This project has come out to further improve the current design of transmitter that can penetrate more below the seafloor. This project consists of simulation and modeling the prototype of EM antenna. Aluminum is the best material to this design since it is easy to fabricate, light, cheaper than copper and has high resistive corrosion. The shape of half ring antenna gives greatest improvement on the amplification of 102.19% as compared to the straight shape and 20.66% compared to ring shape. Further improvement to the current design was done by combining four half ring antennas which is called Quadrapole antenna. The Quadrapole antenna with parallel connection and feeding points at the center gives percentage difference of 196.77.88%. The combination of magnetic feeders and Quadrapole antenna enhance the output of EM wave with 445.76% increment compared to the Quadrapole antenna without magnetic feeders
