Millimeter-Wave System for High Data Rate Indoor Communications
This paper presents the realization of a wireless Gigabit Ethernet
communication system operating in the 60 GHz band. The system architecture uses
a single carrier modulation. A differential encoded binary phase shift keying
modulation and a differential demodulation scheme are adopted for the
intermediate frequency blocks. The baseband blocks use Reed- Solomon RS (255,
239) coding and decoding for channel forward error correction (FEC). First
results of bit error rate (BER) measurements at 875 Mbps, without channel
coding, are presented for different antennas.Comment: 5 page
INFINITE ANTI - UNIFORM SOURCES WITH GEOMETRIC DISTRIBUTION
11 pagesInternational audienceIn this paper we consider the class of anti-uniform Huffman (AUH) codes for sources with infinite alphabet generated by geometric distribution. Huffman encoding of these sources results in AUH codes. As a result of this encoding, we obtain sources with memory. The entropy and average cost of these sources with memory are derived. We perform an analogy between sources with memory and discrete memoryless channels, showing that the entropy of the source with memory is similar to the mean error of the discrete memoryless channel. The information quantity I(X,S) specifies for AUH codes whether they are with memory or not, as it differs from zero or is equal to zero, respectively
Infinite anti-uniform sources
6 pagesInternational audienceIn this paper we consider the class of anti-uniform Huffman (AUH) codes for sources with infinite alphabet. Poisson, negative binomial, geometric and exponential distributions lead to infinite anti-uniform sources for some ranges of their parameters. Huffman coding of these sources results in AUH codes. We prove that as a result of this encoding, we obtain sources with memory. For these sources we attach the graph and derive the transition matrix between states, the state probabilities and the entropy. If c0 and c1 denote the costs for storing or transmission of symbols "0" and "1", respectively, we compute the average cost for these AUH codes
Analysis of Linear Block Codes as Sources with Memory
4 pagesInternational audienceThe linear, binary, block codes with no equally likely probabilities for the binary symbols are analyzed. The encoding graph for systematic linear block codes is proposed. These codes are seen as sources with memory and the information quantities H(S,X), H(S), H(X), H(X|S), H(S|X), I(S,X) are derived. On the base of these quantities, the code performances are analyzed
Single Carrier Architecture for High Data Rate Wireless PAN Communications System
A 60 GHz wireless Gigabit Ethernet (G.E.) communication system is developed
at IETR. As the 60 GHz radio link operates only in a single-room configuration,
an additional Radio over Fibre (RoF) link is used to ensure the communications
in all the rooms of a residential environment. The realized system covers 2 GHz
bandwidth. Due to the hardware constraints, a symbol rate at 875 Mbps is
attained using simple single carrier architecture. In the baseband (BB)
processing block, an original byte/frame synchronization process is designed to
provide a smaller value of the preamble missing detection and false alarm
probabilities. Bit error rate (BER) measurements have been realized in a large
gym for line-of-sight (LOS) conditions. A Tx-Rx distance greater than 30 meters
was attained with low BER using high gain antennas and forward error correction

Hardware simulator design for LTE applications with time-varying MIMO channels
International audienceA hardware simulator facilitates the test and validation cycles by replicating channel artifacts in a controllable and repeatable laboratory environment. This paper presents new frequency domain and time domain architectures of the digital block of a hardware simulator of MIMO propagation channels. The two architectures are tested with LTE standard, in outdoor environment, using time-varying channels. The new architectures of the digital block are presented and designed on a Xilinx Virtex-IV FPGA. Their accuracy and latency are analyzed. The result shows that the architectures produce low occupation on the FPGA and have a small relative error of the output signals
Nouvelle méthode générale de construction des meilleurs codes temps-espace en treillis équilibrés
National audienceRecently, it has been established that the best space-time trellis codes (STTCs) belong to a specific class of codes. These codes are called "balanced STTCs" because they use the points of the MIMO constellation with the same probability. Therefore, the search of the best codes can be reduced to this class. This paper presents a new and general method to design 2^n-PSK balanced STTCs for any number of transmit antennas. This method is simpler than the first method, which was described only for 4-PSK modulation and can be generalized for any configuration of the space-time trellis encoder. Simulation results of new 4-PSK and 8-PSK balanced codes prove the importance of this class
MIMO Hardware Simulator: Digital Block Design for 802.11ac Applications with TGn Channel Model Test
International audienceThis paper presents new frequency domain and time domain architectures for the digital block of a hardware simulator of MIMO propagation channels. This simulator can be used for 802.11ac applications. The hardware simulator facilitates the test and validation cycles by replicating channel artifacts in a controllable and repeatable laboratory environment, thus making it possible to ensure the same test conditions in order to compare the performance of various equipments. After the description of the general characteristics of the hardware simulator, the new architectures of the digital block are presented and designed on a Xilinx Virtex-IV FPGA. Their accuracy and latency are analyzed. TGn channel model E tests are given in details. Lastly, results for all TGn channel models are presented
An improved method to design QPSK Balanced Space-Time Trellis Codes
International audienceRecently, a new class of Space-Time Trellis Codes was proposed as having the best performance. These codes are 'balanced' because they use the points of the constellation with the same probability. In this correspondence, we propose a new and simpler method than exisiting method to design these class for QPSK modulation and several transmit antennas. New and better balanced codes for 3 and 4 transmit antennas are also proposed
