On Family-School-Symbiosis Paradigm for Education Development
Family is the space-time field which entails the closest connection with the individual development. To promote the all-round development of individuals is the common goal of family and school. At present, the practical situation in China’s education is that family shirks its responsibility for education, and society resigns itself from education. Taking symbiotic theory as the theoretical foundation, this study proposes the family-school-symbiosis paradigm for education development, and attempts to seek pragmatic ways to practice such paradigm upon the analysis of the realistic difficulties of family education and social education
Summary of the best evidence for nutritional support programs in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients undergoing radiotherapy
ObjectiveTo evaluate and summarize the best evidence for nutritional support in patients receiving radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma and to offer guidance for clinical practice.BackgroundPatients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma undergoing radiotherapy often experience a high prevalence of malnutrition, and there is a lack of compiled guideline recommendations, which complicates the provision of a reference for clinical nursing.MethodsA systematic literature search revealed the best evidence of nutritional support for nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients undergoing radiotherapy. Included in the review were various types of literature, such as clinical guidelines, expert consensus, systematic evaluations, meta-analyses, evidence summaries, and original studies. The evidence was graded according to the Australian Joanna Briggs Institute Centre for Evidence-Based Health Care Evidence Pre-Grading System (2016 version). Data were gathered from a range of sources, including BMJ Best Practice, the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network, the Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, Web of Science, CINAL, CNKI, the WanFang database, SinoMed, the Yi Maitong Guidelines Network, Dingxiangyuan, the Chinese Nutrition Society, the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism website, and the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition website. The search spanned from January 2013 to 2023.ResultsA comprehensive review identified a total of 3,207 articles, comprising six guidelines, eight expert consensus articles, four systematic evaluations, five randomized controlled trials, two cohort trials, and two observational studies. From these articles, we synthesized 63 pieces of evidence spanning six domains: nutritional risk screening and assessment, nutrient requirements, nutritional support, management of nutritional symptoms, functional exercise, and nutritional monitoring and follow-up.ConclusionA total of lines of evidence supporting nutritional support for nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients receiving radiotherapy were summarized. However, the evidence should be combined with the actual clinical situation, and it should be validated in the future by combining large-sample and multicenter studies to provide a more scientific and beneficial nutritional support program for nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients receiving radiotherapy
Attitudes, practices and information needs regarding novel influenza A (H7N9) among employees of food production and operation in Guangzhou, Southern China: a cross-sectional study
BACKGROUND: As of 30 May 2013, 132 human infections with avian influenza A (H7N9) had been reported in 10 Chinese cities. On 17 May 2013, because a chicken infection with H7 subtype avian influenza virus was detected in Guanzhou, Guangzhou became the 11th city to conduct emergency response operations. The goal of this study was to identify attitudes, practices and information needs among employees of food production and operation in Guangzhou. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey of face-to-face interviews was used during 17–24 June 2013. All adults seeking health examination in Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention who had lived in Guangzhou for at least 3 months, were engaged in food production and operation, and agreed to participate were interviewed. RESULTS: Of 1,450 participants, 69.72% worried about being infected with the A/H7N9 and 74.41% stated that they had searched for information about A/H7N9. The internet (76.92%), television (67.56%), and newspapers (56.26%) were the main methods of obtaining information; the use of these methods differed significantly by various demographic variables (P < 0.05). More than one-fifth of participants complained that the information was not timely enough (20.28%) and was intentionally concealed by the government (20.76%). Nearly one-third (32.35%) did not believe that the government could control the A/H7N9 epidemic. Most participants (80.76%) reported washing hands more frequently than before, while over one-third (37.17%) stated no longer buying poultry. A total of 84.00% indicated a willingness to receive an A/H7N9 vaccine, and the primary reason for not being willing was concern about safety (58.19%). A history of influenza vaccination and worry about being infected with the A/H7N9 were significantly associated with intention to receive an A/H7N9 vaccine (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Our findings provide insight into the attitudes and practices of employees of food production and operation 3 months after the first human A/H7N9 case reported in China, and 1 month after infected chickens were identified in Guangzhou. Distrust in the health department should be addressed, and more effort should be made to improve compliance of proper preventive measures to reduce panic among the public. The information needs should be taken into account in the next step of health education
Analysis of corrections to the eikonal approximation
Various corrections to the eikonal approximations are studied for two- and
three-body nuclear collisions with the goal to extend the range of validity of
this approximation to beam energies of 10 MeV/nucleon. Wallace's correction
does not improve much the elastic-scattering cross sections obtained at the
usual eikonal approximation. On the contrary, a semiclassical approximation
that substitutes the impact parameter by a complex distance of closest approach
computed with the projectile-target optical potential efficiently corrects the
eikonal approximation. This opens the possibility to analyze data measured down
to 10 MeV/nucleon within eikonal-like reaction models.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figure

TCF1 and LEF1 Control Treg Competitive Survival and Tfr Development to Prevent Autoimmune Diseases.
CD4+ Foxp3+ T regulatory (Treg) cells are key players in preventing lethal autoimmunity. Tregs undertake differentiation processes and acquire diverse functional properties. However, how Treg's differentiation and functional specification are regulated remains incompletely understood. Here, we report that gradient expression of TCF1 and LEF1 distinguishes Tregs into three distinct subpopulations, particularly highlighting a subset of activated Treg (aTreg) cells. Treg-specific ablation of TCF1 and LEF1 renders the mice susceptible to systemic autoimmunity. TCF1 and LEF1 are dispensable for Treg's suppressive capacity but essential for maintaining a normal aTreg pool and promoting Treg's competitive survival. As a consequence, the development of T follicular regulatory (Tfr) cells, which are a subset of aTreg, is abolished in TCF1/LEF1-conditional knockout mice, leading to unrestrained T follicular helper (Tfh) and germinal center B cell responses. Thus, TCF1 and LEF1 act redundantly to control the maintenance and functional specification of Treg subsets to prevent autoimmunity
Pharmacokinetic Comparison of 20(R)- and 20(S)-Ginsenoside Rh1 and 20(R)- and 20(S)-Ginsenoside Rg3 in Rat Plasma following Oral Administration of Radix Ginseng Rubra and Sheng-Mai-San Extracts
Ginsenosides Rh1 and Rg3, as the main bioactive components from Ginseng, are effective for prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Sheng-Mai-San (SMS), a classical complex prescription of traditional Chinese medicines, is composed of Radix Ginseng Rubra, Fructus Schisandrae, and Radix Ophiopogonis. In this research, a sensitive and specific liquid chromatography-mass spectrometric method was developed and validated for stereoselective determination and pharmacokinetic studies of 20(R)- and 20(S)-ginsenoside Rh1 and 20(R)- and 20(S)-ginsenoside Rg3 epimers in rat plasma after oral administration of Radix Ginseng Rubra or SMS extracts. The main pharmacokinetic parameters including Tmax, Cmax, t1/2, and AUC were calculated by noncompartment model. Compared with Radix Ginseng Rubra, SMS could significantly increase the content of ginsenosides Rh1 and Rg3 in the decocting process. Ginsenosides Rh1 and Rg3 following SMS treatment displayed higher Cmax, AUC(0–t), and AUC0–∞ and longer t1/2 and tmax except for 20(R)-Rh1 in rat plasma. The results indicated SMS compound compatibility could influence the dissolution in vitro and the pharmacokinetic behaviors in vivo of ginsenosides Rh1 and Rg3, suggesting pharmacokinetic drug-drug interactions between ginsenosides Rh1 and Rg3 and other ingredients from Fructus Schisandrae and Radix Ophiopogonis. This study would provide valuable information for drug development and clinical application of SMS
Feed types driven differentiation of microbial community and functionality in marine integrated multitrophic aquaculture system
Integrated multi trophic aquaculture (IMTA) improves the production of aquatic animals by promoting nutrient utilization through different tropical levels. Microorganisms play an important role in elements cycling, energy flow and farmed-species health. The aim of this study was to evaluate how feed types, fresh frozen fish diet (FFD) or formulated diet (FD), influence the microbial community diversity and functionality in both water and sediment in a marine IMTA system. Preferable water quality, higher animal yields and higher cost efficiency were achieved in the FD pond. Feed types changed the pond bacterial community distribution, especially in the rearing water. The FFD pond was dominated with Cyanobacteria in the water, which played an important role in nitrogen fixation through photosynthesis due to the high nitrogen input of the frozen fish diet. The high carbohydrate composition in the formulated diet triggered higher metabolic pathways related to carbon and lipid metabolism in the water of the FD pond. Sediment had significantly higher microbial diversity than the rearing water. In sediment, the dominating genus, Sulfurovum and Desulfobulbus, were found to be positively correlated by network analysis, which had similar functionality in sulfur transformation. The relatively higher rates of antibiotic biosynthesis in the FFD sediment might be related to the pathogenic bacteria introduced by the trash fish diet. The difference in microbial community composition and metabolic pathways may be associated with the different pathways for nutrient cycling and animal growth performance. The formulated diet was determined to be more ecologically and economically sustainable than the frozen fish diet for marine IMTA pond systems.</p
Identification of the para-nitrophenol catabolic pathway, and characterization of three enzymes involved in the hydroquinone pathway, in pseudomonas sp. 1-7
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p><it>para</it>-Nitrophenol (PNP), a priority environmental pollutant, is hazardous to humans and animals. However, the information relating to the PNP degradation pathways and their enzymes remain limited.</p> <p>Results</p> <p><it>Pseudomonas </it>sp.1-7 was isolated from methyl parathion (MP)-polluted activated sludge and was shown to degrade PNP. Two different intermediates, hydroquinone (HQ) and 4-nitrocatechol (4-NC) were detected in the catabolism of PNP. This indicated that <it>Pseudomonas </it>sp.1-7 degraded PNP by two different pathways, namely the HQ pathway, and the hydroxyquinol (BT) pathway (also referred to as the 4-NC pathway). A gene cluster (<it>pdcEDGFCBA</it>) was identified in a 10.6 kb DNA fragment of a fosmid library, which cluster encoded the following enzymes involved in PNP degradation: PNP 4-monooxygenase (PdcA), <it>p</it>-benzoquinone (BQ) reductase (PdcB), hydroxyquinol (BT) 1,2-dioxygenase (PdcC), maleylacetate (MA) reductase (PdcF), 4-hydroxymuconic semialdehyde (4-HS) dehydrogenase (PdcG), and hydroquinone (HQ) 1,2-dioxygenase (PdcDE). Four genes (<it>pdcDEFG</it>) were expressed in <it>E. coli </it>and the purified <it>pdcDE</it>, <it>pdcG </it>and <it>pdcF </it>gene products were shown to convert HQ to 4-HS, 4-HS to MA and MA to β-ketoadipate respectively by <it>in vitro </it>activity assays.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>The cloning, sequencing, and characterization of these genes along with the functional PNP degradation studies identified 4-NC, HQ, 4-HS, and MA as intermediates in the degradation pathway of PNP by <it>Pseudomonas </it>sp.1-7. This is the first conclusive report for both 4-NC and HQ- mediated degradation of PNP by one microorganism.</p
Research Progress on Flexibility Modification of Coal-Fired Generating Units
[Introduction] The strategic goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" has increased the demand for new energy power grid integration, so it is necessary to improve the flexible operation capacity of coal-fired generating units. [Method] This paper introduced the flexible transformation technology and common evaluation indicators of existing coal-fired units in detail. Flexibility transformation mainly included condensate throttling technology, coupled biomass co-combustion transformation technology of coal-fired units, flexibility technology of pulverizing system of coal-fired units, etc.; Common evaluation indicators for the flexibility of coal-fired generating units included: the power consumption rate of the generator set plant, the thermal efficiency of the boiler, the standard coal consumption rate of the generator set, etc. On this basis, this paper summarized and analyzed the flexibility transformation technology and evaluation indexes. [Result] Finally, the paper puts forward seven kinds of the technology development direction and relevant suggestions of coal-fired generating units. [Conclusion] The structural improvement of original generating units, the introduction of multi-form new energies and the coordinated regulation design of multi-heat storage will be the main direction of subsequent development. It is expected that paper can provide reference for subsequent coal-fired generating units to adapt to "dual carbon" energy planning
