Influence function and asymptotic efficiency of the affine equivariant rank covariance matrix.
Visuri et al (2001) proposed and illustrated the use of the affine equivariant rank covariance matrix (RCM) in classical multivariate inference problems. The RCM was shown to be asymptotically multinormal but explicit formulas for the limiting variances and covariances were not given yet. In this paper the influence functions and the limiting variances and covariances of the RCM and the corresponding scatter estimate are derived in the multivariate elliptic case. Limiting efficiencies are given in the multivariate normal and t-distribution cases. The estimates based on the RCM are highly efficient in the multinormal case, and for heavy tailed distribution, perform better than those based on the regular covariance matrix.Efficiency;
Suomen jatkosota (1941-1944): HyökkÀys- vai puolustussota? Liittolais- vai erillissota? : Analyysi kansainvÀlisestÀ - etenkin oikeudellisesta - nÀkökulmasta
TĂ€mĂ€ on ensimmĂ€inen kansainvĂ€lisoikeudellinen analyysi jatkosodan oikeudellisesta luonteesta. Liitto Saksan kanssa kĂ€vi heikommaksi, mutta Saksalta saamansa avun takia Suomi pysyi muodollisesti Saksan liittolaisena aina rauhan solmimiseen saakka eli syyskuuhun 1944.In September 1939, after having included a secret protocol on spheres of influence in the so-called Molotov- Ribbentrop Pact, Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Poland and divided it between themselves. It was not long before the Soviet Union approached Finland by proposing exchanges of certain territories: âin our national interest we want to have from you certain territories and offer in exchange territories twice as large but in less crucial areasâ. Finland, suspicious of Soviet motives, refused â the outcome was the Soviet war of aggression against Finland by the name of the Winter War in 1939â1940. The Soviet Union won this war and compelled Finland to cede several territories â about 10 per cent of Finlandâs area. After the Winter War, Finland sought protection from Germany against the Soviet Union and decided to rely on Germany. After Germany attacked the Soviet Union in June 1941, Finland joined the German war effort in the so-called Continuation War and reoccupied the territories lost in the Winter War. Finnish forces did not stop at the old border but occupied Eastern (Soviet) Karelia with a desire eventually to annex it. By that measure, Finland joined as Germanyâs ally in its war of aggression against the Soviet Union in violation of international law. In their strong reliance on Germany, the Finnish leaders made some very questionable decisions without listening to warnings from Western States about possible negative consequences. Germany lost its war and so did Finland, which barely avoided entire occupation by the Soviet Army and succeeded in September 1944 in concluding an armistice with the Soviet Union. Finland lost some more territories and was subjected to many obligations and restrictions in the 1947 Paris Peace Treaty, dictated by the Allies. This article analyses, according to the criteria of international law, Finlandâs policy shortly prior to and during the Continuation War, especially Finlandâs secret dealings with Germany in the months prior to the German attack against the Soviet Union and Finlandâs occupation of Eastern Karelia in the autumn of 1941. After Adolf Hitler declared that Germany was fighting against the Soviet Union together with Finland and Romania, was the Soviet Union entitled â prior to the Finnish attack â to resort to armed force in self-defence against Finland? And was Finland treated too harshly in the aftermath of World War ii? After all, its role as an ally of Germany had been rather limited.Peer reviewe
Parhaiden vÀrien valinta ihon pigmentin mukaan
VÀrit kuuluvat jokapÀivÀiseen elÀmÀÀn. Kauneudenhoitoala on visuaalinen eikÀ tulisi toimeen ilman vÀriosaamista. OpinnÀytetyön tavoitteena oli perehtyÀ kirjallisin menetelmin ihon sÀvyyn ja siihen sopiviin vÀreihin vÀrianalyysin nÀkökulmasta. Yhteistyöyritys Kauneushoitola Pigmentin palveluihin kuuluvaa vÀrianalyysia on pyritty kehittÀmÀÀn edellisten vuosien aikana. YrityksessÀ kaivattiin kokonaisvaltaista ja perusteellista tietoa palvelusta ja siihen vaikuttavista tekijöistÀ. Suomessa on useita vÀrianalyysin tarjoajia, joiden menetelmÀt eroavat toisistaan.
Kosmetiikassa tarjonta on monipuolinen. Yhteistyöyritykselle tieto on arvokasta jatkosuunnitelmiin sekÀ sellaisenaan nykyisille asiakkaille.Choosing the right colours for the skin pigmentation
Colours are part of everyday life. The beauty industry is a visual environment dependent on the knowledge of colours. The aim of this thesis was to study the literature on skin tone and the colours that flatter a skin tone from the viewpoint of a colour analysis. The thesis was assigned by Beauty Salon Pigment where the colour analysis service has been developed during the past few years. The salon needed comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of the service and the factors affecting it. In Finland there are several colour analysis providers whose methods differ from each other. Consumers may have had different analyses from different providers. People have their own unique ways to see the colours.
Genetic factors affect a personâs complexion. Skin color may change due to the impact of various factors. Colours are perceived according to the light, visual perception and colour vision. Trend colours that change every season may change peopleâs behavior as regards the colours. A skin tone can be a cold or a warm tone. The results of the thesis can be applied in everyday life. The results provide useful information to the collaboration partner company and its customers

Rauhanturvaamisesta kriisinhallintaan : sotilaalliset ja poliittiset perustelut Suomen osallistumiselle kriisinhallintaoperaatioihin kylmÀn sodan jÀlkeen
TÀssÀ pro gradu -tutkimuksessa tarkastelen Suomen osallistumista kansainvÀlisiin kriisinhallintaoperaatioihin analysoimalla valtioneuvoston selontekoasiakirjoja. Selontekoasiakirjoja tarkastelemalla pyrin selvittÀmÀÀn, kuinka valtioneuvoston selontekoasiakirjoissa on perusteltu Suomen osallistumista kansainvÀlisiin kriisinhallintaoperaatioihin. Tutkimuksen aineistona toimii kuusi valtioneuvoston selontekoa sekÀ useampia selontekoihin liittyviÀ puolustusvaliokunnan mietintöjÀ ja ulkoasiainvaliokunnan lausuntoja koskien kahta YK-johtoista, kahta EU-johtoista ja kahta Nato-johtoista kriisinhallintaoperaatiota. Tarkasteltavat operaatiot sijoittuvat kylmÀn sodan jÀlkeiselle ajalle.
Aineistoa analysoin teoriaohjaavan sisÀllönanalyysin keinoin ja tulokset jaan sotilaallisiin ja poliittisiin perusteluihin. Aineiston avulla pyrin selvittÀmÀÀn, minkÀlainen kuva kriisinhallinnasta toimintana perustelujen kautta hahmottuu, mikÀ on toimijoiden rooli kriisinhallintaoperaatioihin osallistumisessa ja minkÀlaisia merkityksiÀ osallistumiselle perusteluilla rakennetaan. Pohdin suomalaista kriisinhallintaa eri turvallisuustoimijoiden, kuten YK:n, EU:n ja Naton kautta, sekÀ tarkastelen kriisinhallintaa myös historiallisessa kontekstissa. Tarkastelen myös, mikÀ merkitys on turvallisuuspoliittisella ympÀristöllÀ, turvallistamisella, uhkakuvapolitiikalla sekÀ suomalaisella ja lÀnsimaisella turvallisuusdiskurssilla kriisinhallintaoperaatioihin osallistumisessa.
Suomi on pyrkinyt kylmÀn sodan jÀlkeen vahvasti identifioitumaan lÀnteen. LÀnsimaat muodostavat sen viitekehyksen, jossa Suomi turvallisuuttaan tarkastelee. KeskeisimpÀnÀ tutkimustuloksena nÀyttÀytyy Suomen ulko-, turvallisuus- ja puolustuspoliittisten pyrkimysten edistÀmisen kriisinhallinnan keinoin, kuten Suomen tarve yllÀpitÀÀ ja kehittÀÀ kansallista puolustuskykyÀÀn, halu osoittaa tukea kansainvÀliselle yhteisölle vastavuoroisuuden toivossa, sekÀ pyrkimys yleensÀkin parantaa Suomen ja Euroopan turvallisuutta uudessa, kylmÀn sodan jÀlkeisessÀ turvallisuusympÀristössÀ
