    La historia de las matemáticas en el currículo para la formación de profesores de matemáticas

    En este artículo se presentan las justificaciones y las alternativas a la utilización de la Historia de las Matemáticas en el currículo para la formación profesores de Matemáticas. Fueron analizadas las respuestas de los participantes en la investigación a una encuesta para la evaluación de la asignatura en la cual fueron realizadas investigaciones y presentaciones de seminarios como instrumentos de evaluación y de aprendizaje. Los datos cualitativos y cuantitativos fueron colectados, analizados concomitantemente, de modo igualitario en el método mixto QUAN+QUAL que posibilitó complementariedad de los datos analizados, para la obtención de informaciones completas y complejas en este estudio. En general, los resultados apuntaron a que el abordaje metodológico y evaluativo en este estudio contribuyeron para el aprendizaje de los contenidos relacionados con la Historia de las Matemáticas de modo eficiente, constante y continuo

    Neste artigo apresentamos uma pesquisa em desenvolvimento com uma turma de alunos do oitavo ano do ensino fundamental de uma escola pública da rede municipal de uma cidade do interior de minas gerais, Brasil. O objetivo dessa pesquisa é a verificação das possíveis contribuições da história da matemática e do programa etnomatemática para o processo de ensino e aprendizagem de tópicos da matemática financeira. Por recorrer à história da matemática na perspectiva da etnomatemática, espera-se que essa pesquisa possa apontar um caminho para a contribuição de um currículo capaz de proporcionar a formação de cidadãos criativos, críticos e capazes de tomar decisões para a melhoria da nossa sociedade. Na verdade, buscamos nesta fundamentação teórica um meio de colocar a matemática a serviço da educação

    Este estudo foi conduzido com 35 alunos matriculados no oitavo ano do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola pública localizada na microrregião de Sete Lagoas, no estado de Estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. O principal objetivo foi verificar as contribuições de atividades fundamentadas pelo Programa Etnomatemática e pela perspectiva sociocultural da História da Matemática para o desenvolvimento da cidadania dos alunos por meio do ensino e aprendizagem de conteúdos da Educação Financeira A coleta, a análise e a interpretação dos dados foram desenvolvidas por meio da utilização da metodologia do estudo misto como o design de pesquisa denominado QUAL+ quan. Uma contribuição importante desse estudo foi a (re)conciliação entre a escola e o cotidiano dos alunos por meio da utilização do conhecimento financeiro e da perspectiva etnomatemática em sala de aula

    A transversal methodology for the implementation of virtual reality in Architecture learning

    [EN] Virtual reality (VR) has achieved an adequate level of development in education and research in higher education The training in Architecture requires a reflection on the incorporation of new design technologies at the Degree and Master’s level, due, in part, to the dissatisfaction of the students with the poor implementation of these technologies. The pedagogical possibilities of VR are very high. The aim of this paper is to propose a transversal methodology for several subjects in the same semester. It consists of the virtual recreation of a work of relevant architecture in the history of contemporary Architecture. The possibilities of implementing VR in the architectonic subjects are analyzed. This methodology takes advantage of the potential of this technology to create a transversal educational activity, for different subjects and areas of knowledge in the same academic year. Subsequently, the different phases for its implementation are described in terms of activities and scenarios. The paper concludes that transversal methodology offers the opportunity to analyze the same building from different disciplines, checking the interrelation between them, and saves time for the student in completing teaching assignments.Rosa-Jimenez, C.; Ventura-Blanch, F.     Where does galactic dust come from?

    Here we investigate the origin of the dust mass (Mdust) observed in the Milky Way (MW) and of dust scaling relations found in a sample of local galaxies from the DGS and KINGFISH surveys. To this aim, we model dust production from Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) stars and supernovae (SNe) in simulated galaxies forming along the assembly of a Milky Way-like halo in a well resolved cosmic volume of 4cMpc using the GAMESH pipeline. We explore the impact of different sets of metallicity and mass-dependent AGB and SN dust yields on the predicted Mdust. Our results show that models accounting for grain destruction by the SN reverse shock predict a total dust mass in the MW that is a factor of ~4 lower than observed, and can not reproduce the observed galaxy-scale relations between dust and stellar masses, and dust-to-gas ratios and metallicity, with a smaller discrepancy in galaxies with low metallicity (12 + log(O/H) < 7.5) and low stellar masses (Mstar < 10^7 Msun). In agreement with previous studies, we suggest that competing processes in the interstellar medium must be at play to explain the observed trends. Our result reinforces this conclusion by showing that it holds independently of the adopted AGB and SN dust yields.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures. Accepted version for publication in MNRA

    RAST: RoundAbout Solar Tracking

    Abstract Roundabouts became popular worldwide as a tool to reduce the number of car accidents and the EU encourages and promotes this technology as a solution to the problems of urban and extra-urban traffic. RAST (Roundabout Solar Tracking) systems are designed to exploit the available space in roundabouts, which are already equipped and monitored, in order to produce electricity with a photovoltaic single axis tracking system. The energy produced can be used directly by the surrounding facilities or stored and consumed later or channelled to nearby car charge points. The amount of energy that can be produced on a single roundabout is limited by the land size and is normally in the range 100-400 kWp, but the number of suitable roundabouts in cities is high. Therefore, RAST could make an important contribution to the energy production

    In the last decades, the applied approach for the use of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) on clinical and health psychology has grown exponentially. These technologies have been used to treat several mental disorders, for example, phobias, stress-related disorders, depression, eating disorders, and chronic pain. The importance of VR/AR for the mental health field comes from three main concepts: (1) VR/AR as an imaginal technology, people can feel “as if they are” in a reality that does not exist in external world; (2) VR/AR as an embodied technology, the experience to feel user’s body inside the virtual environment; and (3) VR/AR as connectivity technology, the “end of geography’. In this chapter, we explore the opportunities provided by VR/AR as technologies to improve people’s quality of life and to discuss new frontiers for their application in mental health and psychological well-being promotion

    The dust production rate of AGB stars in the Magellanic Clouds

    We compare theoretical dust yields for stars with mass 1 Msun < mstar < 8 Msun, and metallicities 0.001 < Z < 0.008 with observed dust production rates (DPR) by carbon- rich and oxygen-rich Asymptotic Giant Branch (C-AGB and O-AGB) stars in the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds (LMC, SMC). The measured DPR of C-AGB in the LMC are reproduced only if the mass loss from AGB stars is very efficient during the carbon-star stage. The same yields over-predict the observed DPR in the SMC, suggesting a stronger metallicity dependence of the mass-loss rates during the carbon- star stage. DPR of O-AGB stars suggest that rapid silicate dust enrichment occurs due to efficient hot-bottom-burning if mstar > 3 Msun and Z > 0.001. When compared to the most recent observations, our models support a stellar origin for the existing dust mass, if no significant destruction in the ISM occurs, with a contribution from AGB stars of 70% in the LMC and 15% in the SMC.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures, accepted by MNRA
