    Similitud entre documentos multilingües de carácter científico-técnico en un entorno Web

    En este artículo se presenta un sistema para la agrupación multilingüe de documentos que tratan temas similares. Para la representación de los documentos se ha empleado el modelo de espacio vectorial, utilizando criterios lingüísticos para la selección de las palabras clave, la fórmula tf-idf para el cálculo de sus relevancias, y RSS feedback y wrappers para actualizar el repositorio. Respecto al tratamiento multilingüe se ha seguido una estrategia basada en diccionarios bilingües con desambiguación. Debido al carácter científico-técnico de los textos se han empleado diccionarios técnicos combinados con diccionarios de carácter general. Los resultados obtenidos han sido evaluados manualmente.In this paper we present a system to identify documents of similar content. To represent the documents we’ve used the vector space model using linguistic knowledge to choose keywords and tf-idf to calculate the relevancy. The documents repository is updated by RSS and HTML wrappers. As for the multilingual treatment we have used a strategy based in bilingual dictionaries. Due to the scientific-technical nature of the texts, the translation of the vector has been carried off by technical dictionaries combined with general dictionaries.     Corrección gramatical para euskera mediante una arquitectura neuronal seq2seq y ejemplos sintéticos

    Sequence-to-sequence neural architectures are the state of the art for addressing the task of correcting grammatical errors. However, large training datasets are required for this task. This paper studies the use of sequence-to-sequence neural models for the correction of grammatical errors in Basque. As there is no training data for this language, we have developed a rule-based method to generate grammatically incorrect sentences from a collection of correct sentences extracted from a corpus of 500,000 news in Basque. We have built different training datasets according to different strategies to combine the synthetic examples. From these datasets different models based on the Transformer architecture have been trained and evaluated according to accuracy, recall and F0.5 score. The results obtained with the best model reach 0.87 of F0.5 score.Las arquitecturas neuronales secuencia a secuencia constituyen el estado del arte para abordar la tarea de corrección de errores gramaticales. Sin embargo, su entrenamiento requiere de grandes conjuntos de datos. Este trabajo estudia el uso de modelos neuronales secuencia a secuencia para la corrección de errores gramaticales en euskera. Al no existir datos de entrenamiento para este idioma, hemos desarrollado un método basado en reglas para generar de forma sintética oraciones gramaticalmente incorrectas a partir de una colección de oraciones correctas extraídas de un corpus de 500.000 noticias en euskera. Hemos construido diferentes conjuntos de datos de entrenamiento de acuerdo a distintas estrategias para combinar los ejemplos sintéticos. A partir de estos conjuntos de datos hemos entrenado sendos modelos basados en la arquitectura Transformer que hemos evaluado y comparado de acuerdo a las métricas de precisión, cobertura y F0.5. Los resultados obtenidos con el mejor modelo alcanzan un F0.5 de 0.87

    Role of proinflammatory mutations in peri‑implantitis: systematic review and meta‑analysis

    PURPOSE: To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis on the presence of inflammatory polymorphisms in patients with peri-implantitis (PI). PI is the main complication associated to dental implant therapy. Although its main risk factors are history of periodontitis, poor plaque control and lack of regular maintenance, genetic susceptibility could also be a determinant factor for its appearance. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) are small mutations of the DNA that alter the osseointegration of implants. Inflammatory proteins participate in both destruction of the extracellular matrix and reabsorption of the alveolar bone. METHODS: A bibliographical research was made in PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science (keywords: "single nucleotide polymorphism", "polymorphism", "periimplantitis", "SNP" and "implant failure"). RESULTS: There is a statistically significant association of peri-implant bone loss with the homozygotic model of IL-1beta (-511) (OR: 2.255; IC: 1.040-4.889). CONCLUSIONS: Associations between inflammatory polymorphisms and PI must be taken with caution due to the heterogeneous methodological design, sample size and diagnostic criteria of the studies. Thus, more well-designed studies are needed that analyze the relationship between these and more SNP and PI

    Comparative study of the modified VISTA technique (m-VISTA) versus the coronally advanced flap (CAF) in the treatment of multiple Miller class III/RT2 recessions: a randomized clinical trial

    Objectives To compare the percentage of mean root coverage (MRC%) obtained in the treatment of multiple Miller class III/RT2 gingival recessions using the modified VISTA (m-VISTA) technique versus the coronally advanced flap (CAF) technique, using a connective tissue graft (CTG) in both cases. Materials and methods Twenty-four patients were randomly treated with m-VISTA (test group (TG) = 12) or CAF (control group (CG) = 12). A calibrated, experienced, and blinded examiner collected data related to multiple periodontal clinical variables, especially the recession (REC) in order to calculate the MRC% at 6 and 12 months, which was the primary outcome of the study. Also, the radiological bone level, the characteristics of the CTG, and postsurgical incidences were assessed. Finally, a descriptive and an analytical statistical analysis of the variables and their associations was performed. Results The recessions (n = 84) were located mainly in the mandible (n = 65) and in posterior sectors (premolars: n = 35; molars: n = 8). At 6 months, the MRC% was 61% (2 mm) for both study groups, and at 12 months, it increased to 73.26% (2.11 mm) in the TG and decreased to 56.49% (1.78 mm) in the CG. Conclusion When approaching multiple Miller class III/RT2 recessions, there were no statistically significant differences in the MRC% at 6 and 12 months between the group treated with the m-VISTA technique and the group treated with the CAF.Open Access funding provided thanks to the CRUE-CSIC agreement with Springer Nature.     The role of microRNAs in oral lichenoid disorders. Systematic review

    Background: Certain changes in the microRNA expression are considered to be associated with chronic inflammatory processes and with the malignant transformation of oral potentially malignant disorders. The purpose of this systematic review is to update the existing data on the aberrant microRNA expression profiles identified in oral lichenoid disease (OLD).Material and Methods: A search in PubMed-Medline and Scopus was performed on the English literature published between 2010 and August 2016 using the following keywords: oral lichenoid disease, oral lichen planus and microRNA. Results: Originally, 25 articles were considered, of which 12 case-control articles were selected according to the inclusion/exclusion criteria.Conclusions: OLD seems to have altered microRNA expression profile. Certain altered microRNAs (146a, 155) may be useful as biomarkers for this disorder. More studies including larger number of cases are needed in order to study further on the biological processes and on the regulation pathways of these altered microRNAs.peer-reviewe

    Complete Root Coverage in the Treatment of Miller Class III or RT2 Gingival Recessions: a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

    BackgroundThe primary objective of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess the evidence on complete root coverage (CRC) achieved by periodontal plastic techniques in the treatment of Miller class III/RT2 gingival recessions, comparing techniques developed along the twentieth century (pre-twenty-first) versus surgical approaches of the twenty-first century (21st).MethodsAn electronic bibliographic search was carried out in four databases up to December 2019, focusing on studies that reported CRC results in Miller class III or RT2 recessions treatment with at least a six-month follow-up. In addition, a random-effects models' meta-analysis was performed for the CRC, comparing pre-twenty-first versus twenty-first century techniques at 6 months, 12 months and more than 12 months.ResultsThirty-seven publications were included. A total of 933 gingival recessions were treated, 298 with pre-twenty-first century surgical techniques and 635 with techniques from the twenty-first century. CRC was achieved at 6 months on half of the recessions (pre-twenty-first: 57.60% vs. 21st: 51.11%), but decreased markedly for twenty-first century techniques at 12 months (pre-twenty-first: 63.82% vs. 21st: 32.87%). Thereafter, this difference was the other way around (>12 months: pre-twenty-first: 5.26% vs. 21st: 19.65%). The meta-analysis showed a high heterogeneity, with no significant differences amongst the techniques.ConclusionsAlthough CRC might be achievable by treating Miller class III or RT2 recessions with any of the described techniques, its long-term stability is not predictable. More randomized clinical trials with longer follow-ups and several visits, are needed. In addition, the patient's satisfaction should also be assesse

    Assessment of CD-105 as an Angiogenic Modulator in Odontogenic Myxomas and Dental Follicles

    Aim. Odontogenic myxoma is a benign intraosseous neoplasm of the jaws, with a locally aggressive behavior and a high recurrence rate. CD-105 is a homodimeric cell membrane glycoprotein and is a component of the TGF-β1 growth factor receptor complex that modulates angiogenesis by regulating the proliferation, differentiation and cellular migration. The aim of this study is to quantify the microvascular density of the odontogenic myxoma based on the expression of CD-105. Materials and Methods. The analysis included 18 odontogenic myxoma and 18 dental follicles as controls. A standard immunohistochemical procedure was performed with the CD-105 antibody. Five representative fields (40×) of the odontogenic myxoma and the dental follicles were selected to determine the microvascular density, which was then followed by a descriptive and comparative statistical analysis. Results. Dental follicles presented a significantly higher microvascular density compared with odontogenic myxoma (P = .001). The odontogenic myxoma smaller than 3 cm showed a greater microvascular density than those larger than 3 cm in size (P > .05), and the microvascular density was lower in large odontogenic myxomas as compared with the dental follicles (P = .003). Conclusion. A weaker expression of CD-105 in odontogenic myxoma might indicate a lower angiogenic activity, suggesting that vascular proliferation has a limited role in the growth mechanisms and in the aggressive behavior of this neoplasm.peer-reviewe

    Periodontal health in a population with Parkinson's disease in Spain: a cross-sectional study.

    Background: The aim of this research is to evaluate the periodontal health of patients with Parkinson Disease (PD) in a Spanish cohort. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed on 104 patients with PD (mean age: 66.19+9.3 years) and 106 controls (mean age: 59.26+14.11 years). A pre-designed clinical protocol was implemented, which included a standardized epidemiological index for periodontal disease (CPITN), clinical attachment loss (CAL), tooth-loss, full mouth plaque index (FMPI), and oral hygienic habits. Univariate descriptions and comparative analysis were performed. Results: The majority of PD patients presented good oral hygienic habits. There were no significant differences in relation to CPITN, periodontitis, gingival recessions and tooth loss. However, moderate/severe CAL (p=0.027) and FMPI (p=0.003) was higher in the PD group. Conclusions: There were no differences on periodontitis and tooth loss between both groups. The higher number of advanced CAL and presence of biofilm in the PD group could be related to the difficulties to perform an effective tooth brushing due to this neurological disorder.This research was not supported by any specific agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors

    Facts and controversies regarding oral health in Parkinson's disease: A case-control study in Spanish patients.

    Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the leading neurological disorders, affecting more than 6 million people worldwide. These patients present motor and non-motor symptoms, including oral pathology. The objective of this research is to determine the oral health of patients diagnosed with PD, in order to stablish a specific preventive oral health programme. Material and methods: Case-control study on 104 PD and 106 control patients. The pre-designed clinical protocol included a complete oral examination on general aspects, standardised epidemiological index for caries, periodontal disease and edentulism, analysis of oral hygiene, presence of mucous/ salivary/ functional disorder, and dental treatments. Results: A higher number of PD patients consumed daily sweets (p<0.004) and antidepressant drugs (p<0.004). Patients with PD practised less interdental hygiene (p<0.023). The mean plaque index was higher in PD (p<0.003). Drooling (p<0.001), xerostomia (p<0.001), hyposialia (p<0.001), dysphagia (p<0.001), hypogeusia/dysgeusia (p<0.025) and chewing difficulty (p<0.006) were more common in PD. Conclusions: Oral disorders are frequent in PD. A good knowledge of these alterations will allow us design a specific preventive protocol.
