Application of an opinion consensus aggregation model based on OWA operators to the recommendation of tourist sites

    Get PDF
Given the growth in tourism online data as a result of a large number of users posting their personal opinions in social networks and other online platforms with the idea to help other visitants, many authors have proposed a huge variety of ways to classify the sentiments contained in these opinions in order to recommend services (hotels, restaurants, etc.) and destinations to the users with the intention of facilitating their trip planning. In this paper, the authors propose a model to rank tourist sites of a city, based on OWA operators, with the objective of being used as a recommender system. The authors would like to acknowledge the financial support from the EU project H2020-MSCA-IF-2016- DeciTrustNET-746398. In on line communities, where there is a huge number of users that interact under anonymous identities, it has been observed that e-word of mouth is a very powerful influence tool. So far, this technology is well known in on-line marketplaces, such as Amazon, eBay or travel based platforms like Tripadvisor or Booking. However, these trust based approach can be leverage in other scenarios from e-democracy to trust based recommendations on e-health context and e-learning systems. The purpose of this contribution is to analyse the main existing trust and reputation mechanisms and to point out new research challenges that needs to be accomplished with the objective of fully exploiting these systems in real world on-line communities. The authors would like to acknowledge the financial support from the EU project H2020-MSCA-IF-2016- DeciTrustNET-746398 and FEDER funds provided in the Spanish project TIN2016-75850-P

Managing Incomplete Preference Relations in Decision Making: A Review and Future Trends

    Get PDF
In decision making, situations where all experts are able to efficiently express their preferences over all the available options are the exception rather than the rule. Indeed, the above scenario requires all experts to possess a precise or sufficient level of knowledge of the whole problem to tackle, including the ability to discriminate the degree up to which some options are better than others. These assumptions can be seen unrealistic in many decision making situations, especially those involving a large number of alternatives to choose from and/or conflicting and dynamic sources of information. Some methodologies widely adopted in these situations are to discard or to rate more negatively those experts that provide preferences with missing values. However, incomplete information is not equivalent to low quality information, and consequently these methodologies could lead to biased or even bad solutions since useful information might not being taken properly into account in the decision process. Therefore, alternative approaches to manage incomplete preference relations that estimates the missing information in decision making are desirable and possible. This paper presents and analyses methods and processes developed on this area towards the estimation of missing preferences in decision making, and highlights some areas for future research

A review on trust propagation and opinion dynamics in social networks and group decision making frameworks

On-line platforms foster the communication capabilities of the Internet to develop large- scale influence networks in which the quality of the interactions can be evaluated based on trust and reputation. So far, this technology is well known for building trust and harness- ing cooperation in on-line marketplaces, such as Amazon (www.amazon.com) and eBay (www.ebay.es). However, these mechanisms are poised to have a broader impact on a wide range of scenarios, from large scale decision making procedures, such as the ones implied in e-democracy, to trust based recommendations on e-health context or influence and per- formance assessment in e-marketing and e-learning systems. This contribution surveys the progress in understanding the new possibilities and challenges that trust and reputation systems pose. To do so, it discusses trust, reputation and influence which are important measures in networked based communication mechanisms to support the worthiness of information, products, services opinions and recommendations. The existent mechanisms to estimate and propagate trust and reputation, in distributed networked scenarios, and how these measures can be integrated in decision making to reach consensus among the agents are analysed. Furthermore, it also provides an overview of the relevant work in opinion dynamics and influence assessment, as part of social networks. Finally, it identi- fies challenges and research opportunities on how the so called trust based network can be leveraged as an influence measure to foster decision making processes and recommen- dation mechanisms in complex social networks scenarios with uncertain knowledge, like the mentioned in e-health and e-marketing frameworks. The authors acknowledge the financial support from the EU project H2020-MSCA-IF-2016-DeciTrustNET-746398, FEDER funds provided in the National Spanish project TIN2016-75850-P , and the support of the RUDN University Program 5-100 (Russian Federation)

Despite of those good features, there is still a necessity of developing tools to help users to reach decisions with a high level of consensus in those new virtual environments. In this contribution we present a new consensus reaching tool with linguistic preferences designed to minimize the main problems that this kind of organization presents (low and intermittent participation rates, difficulty of establishing trust relations and so on) while incorporating the benefits that a new digital library offers (rich and diverse knowledge due to a large number of users, real-time communication and so on). The tool incorporates some delegation and feedback mechanisms to improve the speed of the process and its convergence towards a consensual solution.FEDER funds in FUZZYLING-II Project TIN2010-17876Andalusian Excellence Projects TIC-05299 and TIC-5991Proyecto de Investigación del Plan de Promoción de la Investigación UNED 2011 (2011/PUNED/0003

This research work has been developed with the financing of FEDER funds in FUZZYLING-II Project TIN2010- 17876, the Andalusian Excellence Projects TIC-05299 and TIC-5991 and the mobility grant program awarded by the University of Granada ’s International Office.2nd International Conference on Information Technology and Quantitative Management, ITQM 2014Rapid changes in the business environment such us the globalization as well as the increasing necessity to make crucial decisions involving a huge range of alternatives in short period of time or even in real time have made that computerized group decision support systems become very useful tools. However in the majority of the cases the panel of experts cannot provide all the information about their preferences due to different reasons such as lack of knowledge, time etc. Therefore different approaches have been presented to deal with the missing preferences in group decision making contexts. In this paper we review and analyse the state-of-the-art research efforts carried out on this topic for incomplete fuzzy preference relations and multiplicative preference relations.FEDER funds in FUZZYLING-II Project TIN2010- 17876Andalusian Excellence Projects TIC-05299 and TIC-5991Mobility grant program awarded by the University of Granada ’s International Offic

TET3 prevents terminal differentiation of adult NSCs by a non-catalytic action at Snrpn.

Ten-eleven-translocation (TET) proteins catalyze DNA hydroxylation, playing an important role in demethylation of DNA in mammals. Remarkably, although hydroxymethylation levels are high in the mouse brain, the potential role of TET proteins in adult neurogenesis is unknown. We show here that a non-catalytic action of TET3 is essentially required for the maintenance of the neural stem cell (NSC) pool in the adult subventricular zone (SVZ) niche by preventing premature differentiation of NSCs into non-neurogenic astrocytes. This occurs through direct binding of TET3 to the paternal transcribed allele of the imprinted gene Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein-associated polypeptide N (Snrpn), contributing to transcriptional repression of the gene. The study also identifies BMP2 as an effector of the astrocytic terminal differentiation mediated by SNRPN. Our work describes a novel mechanism of control of an imprinted gene in the regulation of adult neurogenesis through an unconventional role of TET3

Consensus Reaching with Time Constraints and Minimum Adjustments in Group with Bounded Confidence Effects

The file attached to this record is the author's final peer reviewed version. The Publisher's final version can be found by following the DOI link.In the bounded confidence model it is widely known that individuals rely on the opinions of their close friends or people with similar interests. Meanwhile, the decision maker always hopes that the opinions of individuals can reach a consensus in a required time. Therefore, with this idea in mind, this paper develops a consensus reaching model with time constraints and minimum adjustments in a group with bounded confidence effects. In the proposed consensus approach, the minimum adjustments rule is used to modify the initial opinions of individuals with bounded confidence, which can further influence the opinion evolutions of individuals to reach a consensus in a required time. The properties of the model are studied, and detailed numerical examples and comparative simulation analysis are provided to justify its feasibility
