    Masalah utama dalam penelitian ini yaitu bagaimana menerapkan metode pembelajaran Resitasi untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar fisika peserta didik SMA Negeri 1 Bangkala Barat Kab. Jeneponto. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan seberapa besar hasil belajar fisika peserta didik kelas XI. IPA1 sebelum dan setelah diterapkan metode pembelajaran Resitasi dan untuk mendeskripsikan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar fisika peserta didik kelas XI. IPA1 SMA Negeri 1 Bangkala Barat Kab. Jeneponto setelah diterapkan metode pembelajaran Resitasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada Pretest yang tuntas secara individual dari 21 orang peserta didik hanya 3 orang peserta didik atau 14,28% yang memenuhi kriteria ketuntasan minimal (KKM) atau berada pada kategori sangat rendah dan adapun skor rata-rata peserta didik diperoleh sebesar 15,58%. Sedangkan pada Posttest dari 21 orang peserta didik terdapat 15 peserta didik atau 71,42% telah memenuhi KKM atau berada pada kategori sedang dan skor rata-rata peserta didik 21,38%.Kata Kunci: Pra-Eksperimen, Resitasi, Pretest-Posttest Design, Hasil belajarThe main problem in this research is how to apply the recitation teaching methods to improve student learning outcomes physics Bangkala West Senior High School 1 District. The results showed that the pretest is completed individually from 21 students only 3 people, or 14.28% of learners who meet the minimum completeness criteria (KKM) or are in the category of very low and as for the average score obtained by 15 students , 58%. While on the posttest of 21 students there are 15 students or 71.42% KKM have met or are in the medium category and an average score of 21.38% learners

    This study aimed to investigate what La Trobe pharmacy students (Australia) considered to be the attributes of a good lecturer (faculty member) and to compare the findings to pharmacy undergraduates at Cardiff University, Wales, UK. A 22 item questionnaire, developed at Cardiff, was administered to students at La Trobe University. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, and Mann-Whitney U Test or Kruskal-Wallis Test were used to compare groups. Ethics approval was obtained. Pharmacy students believed good lecturers (faculty) provided clear instruction and assessment criteria, were enthusiastic, inspired students to do their best, motivated students to learn, were accessible for support and started the teaching sessions on time. They also provided timely feedback and illustrated the relevance of material to pharmacy. Australian and UK pharmacy undergraduates in this study shared the same opinions on most aspects of the positive attributes of faculty (lecturers)

    Towards the development of an EIT-based stretchable sensor for multi-touch industrial human-computer interaction systems

    In human-computer interaction studies, an interaction is often considered as a kind of information or discrete internal states of an individual that can be transmitted in a loss-free manner from people to computing interfaces (or robotic interfaces) and vice-versa. This project aims to investigate processes capable of communicating and cooperating by adjusting their schedules to match the evolving execution circumstances, in a way that maximise the quality of their joint activities. By enabling human-computer interactions, the process will emerge as a framework based on the concept of expectancy, demand, and need of the human and computer together, for understanding the interplay between people and computers. The idea of this work is to utilise touch feedback from humans as a channel for communication thanks to an artificial sensitive skin made of a thin, flexible, and stretchable material acting as transducer. As a proof of concept, we demonstrate that the first prototype of our artificial sensitive skin can detect surface contacts and show their locations with an image reconstructing the internal electrical conductivity of the sensor

    Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe NHT dalam  meningkatkan pemahaman siswa pada pertidaksamaan linear satu variabel di kelas VII E SMP Negeri 7 Palu. Desain penelitian ini mengacu pada model penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dikembangkan oleh Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart yang terdiri dari  empat komponen, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII E SMP Negeri 7 Palu pada tahun ajaran 2015/2016 yang berjumlah 24 orang siswa dan dipilih 5 orang siswa sebagai informan berdasarkan pada kemampuan akademiknya. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus. Data yang dikumpulkan pada penelitian ini diperoleh dari aktivitas guru dan siswa melalui lembar observasi, hasil wawancara, catatan lapangan serta hasil tes pada siklus I dan siklus II. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe NHT dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa pada pertidaksamaan linear satu variabel melalui langkah, yaitu (1) menyampaikan tujuan pembelajaran dan memotivasi siswa, (2) menyajikan informasi, (3) penomoran (numbering), (4) mengajukan pertanyaan (questioning), (5) berpikir bersama (heads together), (6) menjawab pertanyaan (answering) dan  (7) memberikan penghargaan.Kata Kunci: Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe NHT, Meningkatkan Pemahaman,  Pertidaksamaan linear Satu Variabel

    A checklist for clinical trials in rare disease: Obstacles and anticipatory actions-lessons learned from the FOR-DMD trial

    Background: Trials in rare diseases have many challenges, among which are the need to set up multiple sites in different countries to achieve recruitment targets and the divergent landscape of clinical trial regulations in those countries. Over the past years, there have been initiatives to facilitate the process of international study set-up, but the fruits of these deliberations require time to be operationally in place. FOR-DMD (Finding the Optimum Steroid Regimen for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy) is an academic-led clinical trial which aims to find the optimum steroid regimen for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for 5 years (July 2010 to June 2015), anticipating that all sites (40 across the USA, Canada, the UK, Germany and Italy) would be open to recruitment from July 2011. However, study start-up was significantly delayed and recruitment did not start until January 2013. Method: The FOR-DMD study is used as an example to identify systematic problems in the set-up of international, multi-centre clinical trials. The full timeline of the FOR-DMD study, from funding approval to site activation, was collated and reviewed. Systematic issues were identified and grouped into (1) study set-up, e.g. drug procurement; (2) country set-up, e.g. competent authority applications; and (3) site set-up, e.g. contracts, to identify the main causes of delay and suggest areas where anticipatory action could overcome these obstacles in future studies. Results: Time from the first contact to site activation across countries ranged from 6 to 24 months. Reasons of delay were universal (sponsor agreement, drug procurement, budgetary constraints), country specific (complexity and diversity of regulatory processes, indemnity requirements) and site specific (contracting and approvals). The main identified obstacles included (1) issues related to drug supply, (2) NIH requirements regarding contracting with non-US sites, (3) differing regulatory requirements in the five participating countries, (4) lack of national harmonisation with contracting and the requirement to negotiate terms and contract individually with each site and (5) diversity of languages needed for study materials. Additionally, as with many academic-led studies, the FOR-DMD study did not have access to the infrastructure and expertise that a contracted research organisation could provide, organisations often employed in pharmaceutical-sponsored studies. This delay impacted recruitment, challenged the clinical relevance of the study outcomes and potentially delayed the delivery of the best treatment to patients. Conclusion: Based on the FOR-DMD experience, and as an interim solution, we have devised a checklist of steps to not only anticipate and minimise delays in academic international trial initiation but also identify obstacles that will require a concerted effort on the part of many stakeholders to mitigate

    Clinical trial readiness to solve barriers to drug development in FSHD (ReSolve): protocol of a large, international, multi-center prospective study

    Background Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is a dominantly-inherited progressive muscular dystrophy caused by de-repression of the DUX4 gene, which causes disease by a toxic-gain-of-function. As molecularly targeted drugs move from preclinical testing into human trials, it is essential that we validate clinical trial tools and methodology to facilitate the drug development process. Methods/design The primary goal of this study is to hasten drug development for FSHD by validating two novel clinical outcome assessments (COAs) and refining clinical trial strategies. We will perform an 18-month longitudinal study in 220 genetically confirmed and clinically affected participants using our FSHD Clinical Trial Research Network, comprised of 8 sites in the United States, and 3 collaborating sites in Europe. Visits occur at baseline and months 3, 12, and 18. At each visit we will collect: 1) a novel FSHD functional composite COA made up of 18 evaluator-administered motor tasks in the domains of shoulder/arm, hand, core/abdominal, leg, and balance function; and 2) electrical impedance myography as a novel muscle quality biomarker (US sites). Other COAs include 1) Domain 1 of the Motor Function Measure; 2) Reachable workspace; 3) orofacial strength using the Iowa Oral Performance Instrument; 4) lean muscle mass using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA); 5) strength as measured by quantitative myometry and manual muscle testing; and 6) the FSHD Health Index and other patient-reported outcomes. Plasma, DNA, RNA, and serum will be collected for future biomarker studies. We will use an industry standard multi-site training plan. We will evaluate the test-retest reliability, validity, and sensitivity to disease progression, and minimal clinically important changes of our new COAs. We will assess associations between demographic and genetic factors and the rate of disease progression to inform refinement of eligibility criteria for future clinical trials. Discussion To the best of our knowledge, this is the largest collaborative study of patients with FSHD performed in the US and Europe. The results of this study will enable more efficient clinical trial design. During the conduct of the study, relevant data will be made available for investigators or companies pursuing novel FSHD therapeutics

    A mean square chain rule and its application in solving the random Chebyshev differential equation

    [EN] In this paper a new version of the chain rule for calculat- ing the mean square derivative of a second-order stochastic process is proven. This random operational calculus rule is applied to construct a rigorous mean square solution of the random Chebyshev differential equation (r.C.d.e.) assuming mild moment hypotheses on the random variables that appear as coefficients and initial conditions of the cor- responding initial value problem. Such solution is represented through a mean square random power series. Moreover, reliable approximations for the mean and standard deviation functions to the solution stochastic process of the r.C.d.e. are given.     Online teacher training in a context for forced immobility: the Case of Gaza, Palestine

    This article discusses an action research study that involved the design and delivery of an online training course for teachers of Arabic to speakers of other languages in the Gaza Strip (Palestine). Grounded in Freirean pedagogy, the course aimed to respond to the employment needs of university graduates by creating opportunities for online language teaching. The action research study explored the dynamics at play within the online educational environment, to evidence elements that challenged and/or facilitated effective collaboration between trainers and trainees. This article retraces and discusses the processes through which the course moved from didacticism to engaged critical pedagogy

    Review of the Diagnosis and Treatment of Periodic Paralysis

    Periodic paralyses (PPs) are rare neuromuscular disorders caused by mutations in skeletal muscle sodium, calcium, and potassium channel genes. PPs include hypokalemic paralysis, hyperkalemic paralysis, and Andersen-Tawil syndrome. Common features of PP include autosomal dominant inheritance, onset typically in the first or second decades, episodic attacks of flaccid weakness, which are often triggered by diet or rest after exercise. Diagnosis is based on the characteristic clinic presentation then confirmed by genetic testing. In the absence of an identified genetic mutation, documented low or high potassium levels during attacks or a decrement on long exercise testing support diagnosis. The treatment approach should include both management of acute attacks and prevention of attacks. Treatments include behavioral interventions directed at avoidance of triggers, modification of potassium levels, diuretics, and carbonic anhydrase inhibitors
