Numerical Comparison of Methods for Hirota-Satsuma Model

    Get PDF
This paper outlines the implementation of the modified decomposition method (MDM) to solve a very important physical model namely Hirota-Satsuma model which occurs quite often in applied sciences. Numerical results and comparisons with homotopy perturbation (HPM) and Adomian’s decomposition (ADM) methods explicitly reveal the complete reliability of the proposed MDM. It is observed that the suggested algorithm (MDM) is more user-friendly and is easier to implement compared to HPM and ADM

Producing a mathematical model with high accuracy is the first and important step in control of systems. Nowadays fractional calculus has been in the spotlight and it has a lot of application especially in control engineering. Fractional modelling on one of the conventional converters is done in this paper. Fractional state space model and related fractional transfer functions for a fractional DC/DC Buck converter is established and achieved results are compared to integer order models. At the end of this paper Oustaloup's recursive approximation is introduced and imposed for one of gathered fractional transfer function

Measurement-Based Noiseless Linear Amplification for Quantum Communication

Entanglement distillation is an indispensable ingredient in extended quantum communication networks. Distillation protocols are necessarily non-deterministic and require advanced experimental techniques such as noiseless amplification. Recently it was shown that the benefits of noiseless amplification could be extracted by performing a post-selective filtering of the measurement record to improve the performance of quantum key distribution. We apply this protocol to entanglement degraded by transmission loss of up to the equivalent of 100km of optical fibre. We measure an effective entangled resource stronger than that achievable by even a maximally entangled resource passively transmitted through the same channel. We also provide a proof-of-principle demonstration of secret key extraction from an otherwise insecure regime. The measurement-based noiseless linear amplifier offers two advantages over its physical counterpart: ease of implementation and near optimal probability of success. It should provide an effective and versatile tool for a broad class of entanglement-based quantum communication protocols.Comment: 7+3 pages, 5+1 figures, close to published versio

Objective: Use of herbal medicines has increased in recent years and many researches show their values in the treatment and prevention of diseases. In several studies, antioxidant properties of purslane (PO) were demonstrated. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of ethanolic extract of PO (EEPO) on the renal function and antioxidant status after induction of ischemia reperfusion (I/R) injury in the rat kidney. Methods: 30 male Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups (n=6): sham operated+ vehicle (sham), sham operated+ EEPO 300mg/kg (control), I/R, I/R+ EEPO 150 and 300 mg/kg. Unilateral nephrectomy was performed in all animals, 20 days before the experiment. PO extract or vehicle was administered for 5 days, So that the last dose was administered a half hour before induction of the left kidney I/R (45 min ischemia /24 h reperfusion). At the end of reperfusion period, blood and renal tissue samples were obtained for the serum urea and creatinine (Scr) measurements as well as the tissue antioxidant assays. Results: Induction of I/R and pretreatment with PO extract, increased the level of superoxide dismutase (SOD). There were no significant changes in the levels of MDA, GSH and FRAP among different groups. On the other hand the Scr and serum urea of the I/R and treated groups were elevated compared to the sham group. Conclusion: Purslane did not strongly affect the renal antioxidant status and could not prevent the renal injury following I/R. Probable reason might be the stimulation of immune system by the PO extract

Applying Delphi technique to generating criteria & indicator for monitoring ecotourism sustainability in Northern Forest of Iran: Case study in Dohezar & Sehezar watershed.

Ecotourism is widely accepted as the most effective type of sustainable development. For monitoring ecotourism sustainability in the Northern forest of Iran, a study was designed to help identifying criteria and indicators (C&I) with the principle goal to ensure the objectives of forest management, and at the same time – maintain processes in a sustainable manner. Indicators act as an instrument which can be used for monitoring sustainability. Hence indicators should be multidisciplinary, and cover all aspect of social, ecological, cultural, economic and institutional factors affecting sustainability of ecotourism. In this study, C&I were identified by using the Delphi approach through multidisciplinary panel team. Three rounds of meetings were held for discussions and dissemination of research to a panel of local experts. At the end of the second round we reached a consensus on 9 criteria and 61 indicators, which include 21 indicators related to ecological aspects, 8 to economic aspects, 21 to social aspects, 6 to cultural aspects and 5 to institutional aspects. The selected indicators would be applied by the Iranian Cultural, Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization for monitoring ecotourism sustainability in the Northern forest of Iran

Overview of Polkadot and its Design Considerations

    Get PDF
In this paper we describe the design components of the heterogenous multi-chain protocol Polkadot and explain how these components help Polkadot address some of the existing shortcomings of blockchain technologies. At present, a vast number of blockchain projects have been introduced and employed with various features that are not necessarily designed to work with each other. This makes it difficult for users to utilise a large number of applications on different blockchain projects. Moreover, with the increase in number of projects the security that each one is providing individually becomes weaker. Polkadot aims to provide a scalable and interoperable framework for multiple chains with pooled security that is achieved by the collection of components described in this paper

The behavior of logistic equation with alley effect in fuzzy environment: fuzzy differential equation approach

    Get PDF
In this paper a fuzzy logistic equation with alley effect is introduced by considering some parameter as fuzzy numbers. Due to presence of the fuzzy number the corresponding differential equation in logistic equation model with alley effect becomes fuzzy differential equation. Considering generalized Hukuhara derivative approach the fuzzy logistic equation converted to system of two crisp differential equations. We obtain the conditions of stability criterion for different cases. Different numerical examples are given to support our work
