The survey was applied to a nationalsample composed of 603 employees (followers) operating in a financial institution. The authors utilized a fewstatistical techniques to analyze the data collected, namely descriptive statistics, factor analysis, varianceanalysis and linear regression.Findings – The results indicate that employees have a high perception toward transformational leadership; nosignificant differences between the groups of respondents were found. Followers perceive their leader as atransformational agent, who inspires, encourages, considers and motivates them.Practical implications – The relevance of this research theme and the main findings of this researchcontribute to managerial practices since the leadership style under investigation is associated with positiveoutcomes.Originality/value – This research sought to explore transformational leadership in an unexpected context. The originality of the study relies on the identification of a positive leadership style in the national financialsystem, which is usually more focused on economic criteria. The aim of this study is to relate leadership and decision-making styles with the intention of remaining in the organization. The study was conducted with employees of private companies in southern Brazil. The survey research method was used, with a sample of 324 respondents. Data were submitted to factor analysis, linear regression analysis and mean difference tests. The results indicate that the transformational style together with the strategic and rational decision making had the greatest explanatory power in the intention of the employees to remain in the organization. The study contributes to leadership and decision-making research: (i) by highlighting a predominance of rational decision-making style, despite initiatives to highlight the growing importance of intuition; (ii) by assessing leadership style from the perceptions of the employees, which eliminates possible self-evaluation biases and (iii) by raising new variables to be investigated in order to remain in the job. Adopting a development vision that emphasizes the endogenous factors of each locality, this paper investigates the factors that determine the level and the nature of the capital stock of a community. The concept of development defended in this study only is possible of being reached through the increasing of the social and cultural characteristics of the region. Being thus, it is necessary that the region knows to promote and to adopt its social capital level - as part of the development process. The survey was done in the city of Farroupilha (RS), using a sample of business students of a local college. Descriptive statistics, factorial analysis, linear regression and analysis of variance had been used. The results point the variables related to the “Participation in the community” as having the lesser levels of social capital, while the variables related to the “Work environment” reached the best performances. The analysis of the results considers the socio-cultural aspects of the region and aims, thus, to find elements related to the characteristics and the endogenous forces of the community. As future intention it is expects to raise insights for the construction of social actions - promoted for private companies, government or civil society -, which answer to the challenges of generation of social capital and local development.

Three elements of local development are highlighted by tourism activity: the society, the environment and the economy, that are integrated and reinforce themselves mutually, on the context that the social and cultural diversity and the productive differentiation must be used as potential transformational resources and of local development. The Vale dos Vinhedos (Brazil) region has become the most important wine and oenology park in the country, that beyond producing wines also manifests itself as a oenotouristic destine. This study is characterized as an exploratory-descriptive, of quali-quantitative character, and constitutes a preliminar and exploratory analysis made under the light of a territorial development concept. From this analysis new research questions have been formulated that aim to further the territorial development of Vale dos Vinhedos, attaching the concepts of territory and territorial resources to the tourism life cycle model. We are able to verify, from the life cycle analysis, that the Vale dos Vinhedos is on the “Development” stage, which indicates a tendency of diminishing participation of the local community on the planning and decision making of the touristic development process.

The present paper addresses the issue of collective competence and social capital analysis for collaborative networks. The objective of the project is to understand how collaborative networks can be influenced considering the perspective of social capital and core competences. In this model we defend the emphasis on endogenous resources, once the technology is, in a general way, accessible to most of the companies and, therefore will not be a long term competitive advantage. The model shows that collaborative networks will be more competitive and successful if they invest in to core elements that are: organizational culture and people. Therefore, the model contributes for the researches in socio-organizational filed and provides a tool to evaluate collaborative networks
