Treatment of bilateral hyperplasia of the coronoid process of the mandible : Presentation of a case and review of the literature

Bilateral hyperplasia of the coronoid process is infrequent. It consists of an elongation of the coronoid process of the mandible and is, accordingly, a mechanical problem, limiting mouth opening. This article looks at the case of a 28 year-old male with significant limitation on opening his mouth, secondary to bilateral hyperplasia of the coronoid process. We reviewed the literature and analysed the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures used, paying special attention to the surgical approaches to the coronoid process and emphasising the importance of early post-operative rehabilitation, describing our experience with the TheraBite® (Atos Medical AB, PO Box 183, 242 22 Hörby, Sweden). The satisfactory result of the procedure is marked by the stable recovery of the mouth opening, achieved by a good combination of surgical and physiotherapeutic techniques

Comparativo de la volatilidad trimestral del índice COLCAP en el periodo 2012-2017

The Colombian Stock Market is managed by the Colombian Stock Exchange, which evaluates the behavior of the market through financial indicators, among which is the COLCAP index, that measures the movement of the price of the most liquid shares in the Colombian market. This indicator is updated quarterly, both in the actions that comprise it and in the corresponding participation of each of them, so it is important to compare the variation of said index from one quarter to another, and thus determine if there is significant evidence in the difference between the quarterly variations of the index. In order to carry out this study, information is taken from the index in the period from the first (01) of February 2012 to the thirty-one (31) of January 2017 and the data is analyzed using the simple variance analysis model or a Only factor starting from the initial hypothesis that the variation of period 1 is equal to the remaining periods (2, 3 and 4), showing in the results that there is not enough statistical evidence to reject this hypothesis.El Mercado Bursátil en Colombia se encuentra administrado por la Bolsa de Valores de Colombia, la cual evalúa el comportamiento del mercado a través de indicadores financieros, entre los cuales se encuentra el índice COLCAP, que mide el movimiento del precio de las acciones más liquidas en el mercado. Este indicador se actualiza de manera trimestral, tanto en las acciones que lo conforman como en la participación correspondiente de cada una de ellas, de modo que es importante comparar la variación de dicho índice de un trimestre a otro, y así determinar si existe evidencia significativa en la diferencia entre las variaciones trimestrales del índice. Para realizar este estudio se toma información del índice en el periodo comprendido desde el primero (01) de febrero de 2012 al treinta y uno (31) de enero de 2017 y se analizan los datos aplicando el modelo de análisis de varianza simple o de un solo factor partiendo de la hipótesis inicial de que la media de la volatilidad del periodo 1 es igual a los periodos restantes (2, 3 y 4), mostrando en los resultados que no existe suficiente evidencia estadística para rechazar esta hipótesis.&nbsp

Corrigendum to: Many-Core Algorithm of the Embedded Zerotree Wavelet Encoder

In the literature, the image compression was implemented using a variety of algorithms; such as vector quantization and subband coding and transform-based schemes. The current problem is that the selection of an image compression algorithm depends on criteria of compression ratio, but the quality of reconstructed images depends on the technology used. Some papers about of the wavelet transform-based coding show this field as an emerging option for image compression with high coding efficiency. It is well known that the new wavelet-based image compression scheme JPEG-2000 has been standardized. This chapter shows the developed novel algorithm executed in parallel using the embedded Zerotree wavelet coding scheme, in which the programs integrate parallelism techniques to be implemented and executed in the many-core system Epiphany III

Descripción: Ética y Ciudadanía es un curso de formación general, de carácter teórico-práctico, dirigido a estudiantes de ciclos iniciales de distintas carreras; que busca contribuir al desarrollo una de las competencias generales de nuestro modelo educativo: Ciudadanía en el nivel 1.
