Leadership in standard chartered organization: a comparative study between Malaysia and Japan / Raja Alia Zafirah Raja Abdul Rahim
Leadership literature in the past decade has drawn a sharp distinction between three types of leadership: transactional, charismatic and transformational. The leadership has dealt extensively with the sources and aspects of these leadership patterns, particularly in the context of “the leader and his people”. Hence this paper will look through in comprehensive view and examines the probability of the various leadership patterns emerging in organizations from the point of view of the conditions prevailing in the organization and their psychological implications. The dilemma faced by many businesses today is managing strategic change initiatives efficiently and effectively. Arguably, managing changes simultaneously poses great challenges to organizational success in terms of the desired change. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the driving forces that occurred during management of change in Standard Chartered bank in two countries that are Malaysia and Japan. Issues in the implementation process include change initiatives and the challenges that were faced by the leaders. This observation suggests that organizational leaders should give careful attention to how each activity can be designed and well integrated when planning and implementing organizational change in order to

Race and Sport in the Florida Sun: The Rollins/Ohio Wesleyan Football Game of 1947
As the most popular sport in the United States, football occupies a central place in popular discourse. Since the early twentieth century, public engagement with football has been central to sport culture. Across the South, football provided a moment of common experience, and this was especially true of Rollins College. Being the oldest liberal arts institution in Florida, life at Rollins was linked to football for decades. Yet, as this comment suggested, the nature of the relationship could not be unaffected by the changing racial dynamic in the United States. As a small liberal arts college, the faculty and students at Rollins has long supported “progressive” racial politics. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of that history in the 1947 Rollins/Ohio Wesleyan University football game is how that racial progressiveness vie with the reality of White Supremacy. Despite notable social progress since World War II, Florida in the late 1940s remained a frontier state in terms of racial relations, since the state law still prohibited the mixed participation in any educational programs. When Ohio Wesleyan led by Branch Rickey insisted on bringing its African American player to the game, President Hamilton Holt failed to take a stand against racial injustice, fearing violence, even though the cancellation was against his personal beliefs. Notwithstanding his own limit and surrender to political pressures in the segregated South of his time, Holt ultimately was able to stand on the right side of history and made his mark on the social integration in the United States
Measuring some kinesthetic perception tests using the computer-programmed atrussonic distance sensor for volleyball players according to their specialities
The problem of the research lies in the possibility of making the tests used through accurate devices that work according to the computer system to avoid self-evaluation, which takes a lot of time in the testing process, the study aimed to design some tests of kinaesthetic perception using the computer-programmed atrousonic distance sensor and identify the level of some kinaesthetic perception tests For the research sample, the research sample was represented by a group of volleyball players in (Basra, Maysan, Dhi Qar), totalling (40) players divided according to their specializations in playing. The results of the Colum grove Seminarov test for the normal distribution of volleyball players according to their specialities as well as the results of the analysis of variance of the value of (F) The calculated and tabular tests for the perception of the distance for the right hand and the perception of the distance for the left hand of the volleyball players, the researchers concluded that there are differences between the specialities of playing in the volleyball team and this is evidence that the specifications of the volleyball players differ from one player to another according to the requirements of modern play. Researching the reasons that cause the variation in the level of some specialities of playing in the volleyball team
Socio-technical factors influencing big data analytics adoption in healthcare
The purpose of this study is to determine the key socio-technical factors influencing big data analytics adoption in healthcare services. A systematic literature review was conducted using peer-reviewed scholarly publications spanning from 2013 to 2023 to illuminate the influencing factors. Twelve papers focused on the factors influencing big data analytics (BDA) adoption in healthcare services were included for review. The factors were divided into four major groups namely i) person, ii) technology, iii) organization, and iv) environment. Analytical skills define a person, whereas technology is characterized by system quality and information quality. Organization support, organization resources, training, data governance, and evidence-based decision-making are all associated with the organization. Finally, government regulations are allocated to the environment. This review presents evidence of the socio-technical factors that influence big data analytics adoption in healthcare services. The findings from this review recommend future big data analytics adoption in healthcare services to carefully evaluate the factors identified in this study
current state of poison control centers in Pakistan and the need for capacity building.
Background: Chemical exposure is a major health problem globally. Poison control centers (PCCs) play a leading role both in developed and developing countries in the prevention and control of poisonous chemical exposures. In this study, we aimed to assess the current state of PCCs in Pakistan and highlight capacity building needs in these centers. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of the two registered PCCs was done during August – December 2011. Necessary services of the PCCs were evaluated and the data were recorded on a predesigned checklist. Results: Both PCCs are affiliated to a tertiary care hospital. Clinical services to poisoned patients were available 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. Information on common local products was available to poison center staff. Both centers were involved in undergraduate and post graduate teaching. Telephone poison information service was not available in either of centers. There was a limited capacity for qualitative and analytical toxicology. Common antidotes were available. There were limited surveillance activities to capture toxic risks existing in the community and also a deficiency was observed in chemical disaster planning. Conclusion: PCCs in Pakistan need capacity building for specialized training in toxicology, toxicovigilance, chemical disaster planning, analytical laboratory tests and telephone service for consultation in poisoning cases
THE LINKAGE BETWEEN CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSIONS, ENERGY USE AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN MALAYSIA
The aim of the study is to know the linkages between carbon dioxide emissions (CO2), energy use
and economic growth (GDP) in Malaysia. Annual data has been used in this study. The result of Unit Root test
shows that all the variables are stationary at first difference. Based on the causality relationship between three
variables, the short-run causal relationship had been recognised in this study; a unidirectional causality running
from energy use to carbon dioxide and from energy use to economic growth (GDP) and a bidirectional causality
running between carbon dioxide and economic growth (GDP). Some policies had been recommended as for solution
to Malaysian and as a springboard for researcher to further the study on economic growth, energy use and carbon
dioxide
