The Manual Flight Skill of Airline Pilots
The manual flight ability of commercial airline pilots has been scrutinized
after several aviation disasters in the first decade of the 21st century where pilot error has been a contributing cause. Voluntary pilot incident reports from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration\u27s Aviation Safety Reporting System (ASRS) were examined as one method to determine the prevalence of manual flight skill decline among airline pilots. The investigation studied reports from unstabilized approach to landings where the pilots manually controlled the aircraft during descent. An analysis of the ASRS reports from pilots flying traditional flight deck aircraft compared with pilots flying aircraft with advanced technology flight decks revealed no significant difference in unstabilized approaches. Two additional analyses comparing ASRS reports from regional air carriers versus major air carriers as well as international operations and domestic operations from major air carriers, determined no significant differences in unstabilized approaches. The research indicates that ASRS voluntary incident reports cannot determine significant differences in airline pilot manual flight control between different airline operation types or flight deck technologies

Power control for WCDMA
This project tries to introduce itself in the physical implementations that make
possible the denominated third generation mobile technology. As well as to
know the technology kind that makes possible, for example, a video-call in real
time.
During this project, the different phases passed from the election of WCDMA
like the access method for UMTS will appear. Its coexistence with previous
network GSM will be analyzed, where the compatibility between systems has
been one of the most important aspects in the development of WCDMA, the
involved standardization organisms in the process, as well as the different
protocols that make the mobile communications within a network UTRAN
possible. Special emphasis during the study of the great contribution that has
offered WCDMA with respect to the control of power of the existing signals will
be made.
The future lines that are considered in the present, and other comment that
already are in their last phase of development in the field of the mobile
technology.
UMTS through WCDMA can be summarized like a revolution of the air
interface accompanied by a revolution in the network of their architecture
Online students´ satisfaction with blended learning
En este artículo se exponen los resultados obtenidos a través de una experiencia de formación semipresencial apoyada en el uso
de las redes, más concretamente, bajo la modalidad blended learning (b-learning) llevada a cabo con los estudiantes que cursaban
la asignatura de Filosofía y Física Introductoria en la Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra de la República Dominicana.
Para ello se parte de la presentación y fundamentación del modelo teórico en el cual se sustenta la experiencia, es decir, el b-learning,
haciendo especial hincapié en la separación de las actividades a realizar en las sesiones virtuales y presenciales. En el estudio
se recogió información a través de tres instrumentos diferentes pero complementarios para nuestro objeto de estudio: cuestionario
de satisfacción de los estudiantes, entrevistas a los alumnos y entrevistas mediante correo electrónico a los profesores. Los resultados
alcanzados y el nivel de satisfacción de los alumnos nos muestran la significación de la experiencia, así como, al mismo tiempo
se apuntan algunas de las limitaciones encontradas referidas a la necesidad de capacitación del profesorado y a la dificultad que
supone transformar las estructuras organizativas. Algunas de las conclusiones apuntan hacia la actitud favorable que tanto profesores
como estudiantes muestran hacia la formación semipresencial, así como la necesidad de la existencia en la universidad de
instituciones que apoyen la formación del profesorado en dichas acciones formativas.__________________________________________________This paper shows the results obtained from a blended training experience based on internet usage, more specifically, under the
Blended Learning (b-learning) modality carried out on first-year students of Philosophy and Physics at the Pontifical University of
Dominican Republic. The theoretical model in which this b-learning experience is sustained will be first presented and described,
emphasizing the separation of activities to be done in virtual and attending sessions. Information was gathered for the purpose of
this study through three different but complementary instruments: students’ satisfaction questionnaire, interviews with students and
interviews with lecturers by e-mail. The results achieved and the level of students’ satisfaction show the significance of the experience
as well as some limitations found concerning the need for teacher training and the difficulty of changing the organizational
structures. Some of the conclusions point to the favourable attitude shown by teachers and students in blended learning, as well
as the need for universities to include centers that support teacher training in these formative actions
Producción y caracterización de bicapas de DLC/ZrxOy usando técnicas de sputtering y CVD asistido por plasma
Este trabajo describe la síntesis de una bicapa compuesta de diamante como carbón (DLC) con una intercapa de Zirconia (ZrO2), la cual fue sintetizada por medio de un sistema deposición química en fase vapor por microondas (MPCVD) para el DLC y Sputtering por R.F. para la intercapa de ZrO2, el deposito fue hecho sobre substratos de acero inoxidable AISI 316 L, aleación de titanio Ti6Al4V y silicio (400), usando como una mezcla de metano e hidrogeno (CH4 + H2) para la capa de DLC, la intercapa de ZrO2 se realizó usando un blanco de ZrO2 estabilizado con itrio al 8% (YZS). La adición de silicio durante el depósito de la intercapa de ZrO2 resulta en una contribución para lograr crecer y adherir la capa de DLC. Las películas fueron caracterizadas en su composición química usando EDS, la estructura a partir de espectroscopia Raman para el DLC y difracción de rayos X (XRD) para la intercapa de ZrO2, la morfología fue analizada por medio de AFM y FE-SEM. Durante el depósito de la película de DLC vía MPCVD los efectos de la variación del voltaje BIAS (-200 V, -250 V, -300 V) tanto en la estructura química como en las propiedades de resistencia al desgaste y la corrosión fueron estudiados. Se analizó el comportamiento de la bicapa en diferentes condiciones de carga y velocidad durante el ensayo de desgaste, para evaluar la transición de mecanismos y la tasa de desgaste en diferentes condiciones. El volumen perdido y el COF en función del voltaje de autopolarización aplicado al momento del depósito de la capa de DLC. El comportamiento frente a la corrosión se determinó por medio de la técnica de polarización potenciodinámica.Abstract. This work describes the synthesis of a composite bilayer of diamond like carbon (DLC) with a Zirconia interlayer (ZrO2), which was synthesized by means of a microwave chemical vapor deposition system (MPCVD) for DLC and Sputtering by R.F. for the ZrO2 interlayer, the deposit was made on substrates of AISI 316 L stainless steel, titanium alloy Ti6Al4V and silicon (400), using as a mixture of methane and hydrogen (CH4 + H2) for the layer of DLC, the interlayer of ZrO2 was performed using an 8% yttrium stabilized ZrO2 target (YZS), which was further characterized in its chemical composition using EDS, the chemical structure was known by means of Raman spectroscopy for DLC and X-ray diffraction (XRD) for the ZrO2 interlayer, the morphology was analyzed by AFM and FE-SEM. During the deposition of the DLC film via MPCVD the effects of the variation of the BIAS voltage (-200 V, -250 V, -300 V) in both the chemical structure as well as the properties of wear resistance and corrosion was studied. The behavior of the bilayer at different normal loading and speed conditions at the time of the wear test was analyzed to observe the transition of wear mechanisms to the variation of conditions as well as the rate of wear, volume lost and COF as a function of the BIAS voltage applied at the time of deposition of the DLC layer, the corrosion behavior was evaluated by means of the potentiodynamic polarization technique. The addition of silicon during the deposition of the ZrO2 interlayer results in a contribution to achieve growth and adhesion of the DLC layer.Maestrí

Producción de polimedia por el profesorado universitario y su grado de aceptación en República Dominicana
The use of video in distance education contexts and in virtual training is essential. This study presents the
results of an experience with 114 university professors from two universities in the Dominican Republic who
carried out training activities on the pedagogical bases of the Polimedia systems. The degree of acceptance
of the Polimedia system was measured through an adaptation of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM)
developed by Davis in 1989, and the significance of different sociodemographic variables in the model was
analyzed. The results demonstrate the high degree of teacher acceptance of the Polimedia system and its
relationship with variables such as experience with ICT, as well as the robustness of the TAM. This strengthens
the need to establish training plans that focus less on technological aspects and more on the pedagogical
dimensionEl uso del video en contextos de formación a distancia y en actividades de formación virtuales se hace
imprescindible. El presente estudio expone los resultados de una experiencia llevada a cabo con 114
profesores universitarios de dos universidades de República Dominicana, quienes realizaron actividades
formativas sobre las bases pedagógicas de los sistemas Polimedia. Se mide el grado de aceptación del sistema
Polimedia a través de una adaptación del Modelo de Aceptación Tecnológica (TAM) formulado por Davis en
1989 y se analiza la significación de diferentes variables sociodemográficas en el modelo. Los resultados
demuestran el alto grado de aceptación entre los docentes hacia el sistema Polimedia y su relación con
variables como la experiencia con las TIC, así como la robustez del TAM. De esta manera, se afianza la
necesidad de establecer planes de formación que no se centran tanto en aspectos tecnológicos, sino en la
dimensión pedagógica
