Characteristics of Mesospheric Temperature and Gravity Waves Over Chile in 2020-2021

Atmospheric gravity waves (AGWs) that propagate up into the mesospheric region break and transfer energy into the region. This energy process affects seasonal temperatures in the mesosphere and has important implications for rocket launches and GPS satellites. Using the Utah State University (USU) Mesospheric Temperature Mapper (MTM) located at the Andes Lidar Observatory (ALO) in Chile (30°S), wave activity and seasonal temperature changes were studied over the Andes Mountain Range from Jan 2020 to the first few months of 2021 for this study. The primary goal of the whole project was to continue the long-term data collection and analysis (since 2009) and to better understand mesospheric gravity wave dynamics and climatology. The data derived from this research follows the same seasonal temperature variation patterns established by earlier work done by our group but was not without its drawbacks. Electronic interference from the meteor system collocated at ALO was present in an overwhelming number of nights observed, most likely due to failed cable shielding in the MTM camera system. This has made it difficult to get large amounts of useful wave data but left the temperature relatively unscathed

Modeling and Validation of ARINC653 architectures

International audienceAvionics systems must be carefully designed due to their criticality since fault may lead to loss of life. Thes e systems must be verified and certified. However, design of avionics arc hitectures becomes more and more complex due to an increasing demand of new functionalities. It makes very diffic ult to analyze systems and detect potential faults that may cause damages. This paper presents an approac h to model and validate avionics systems. Architecture requirements, properties and constraints are described with the Architecture Analysis and Design Language (AA DL) and its associated A RINC653 annex. Then, we apply validation rules to check system correctness and constraints enforcement. This approac h provides a high-level view of the system and eases the development of avionics system by validating their requirements at a model- level, before any implementation effort

International audienceThe torments and speeches about precariousness and exclusion in France in the 20th century This article sums up the book Les maux et les mots de la précarité et de l'exclusion en France au XXe siècle, published under the supervision of André Gueslin and Henri-Jacques Stiker. It followed a two-day seminar held in May 2011 at the University Paris Diderot. Eleven researchers highlight the many aspects of precariousness and analyze the social exclusion process. They study different features of vulnerable populations. The authors focus on the rhetoric of both the outcasts and their relations. The different players involved, especially the State, have a large part in this study.Cet article se propose de faire le compte rendu de l'ouvrage collectif Les maux et les mots de la précarité et de l'exclusion en France au XXe siècle, rédigé sous la direction d'André Gueslin et d'Henri-Jacques Stiker. Il fait suite à deux journées d'étude qui se sont tenues en mai 2011 à l'Université Paris Diderot. Onze chercheurs soulignent le caractère multi facettes de l'exclusion et de la précarité et analysent les processus qui fondent l'exclusion. On observe ainsi différents visages de ces populations fragilisées. Les auteurs se sont intéressés à la parole de l'exclu et de ceux qui le côtoient ou le désignent. Les différents acteurs, et en particulier l'État, occupent une place importante dans ces études

Il convient donc d'étudier le terreau culturel et scientifique duquel a pu émerger cette oeuvre et renouer les liens philologiques qui révèlent la profondeur de l'héritage des Lumières

Vehicle Security System Based on GSM Technology

The aim of the vehicle security system is to use the wireless communication technology inventively for the automotive environments. The main focus of this project is to protect the thieving of vehicle. This is done with the help of GSM modem and circuit which consists of AT mega 16 microcontroller, relay and step down transformer. When someone tries to filch the car then microcontroller gets an interrupt and orders GSM Modem to send the message & the owner is made aware that someone is trying to pilfer his vehicle. Adjacency visualization in mobile networks

The ever-increasing usage of mobile phones forces the network operators to expand and tune their mobile networks continuously to meet the growing requirements for the quality of service. This is done with the help of optimization tools. One of the network optimization tools used by operators is Nokia Optimizer, whose adjacency management functionality as well as the process for developing the said functionality is described in this thesis. The development of Optimizer started in 2001, at the time as this study began. Several versions of Optimizer were developed during the course of this study. The aim of this thesis is to study the possibilities for managing and visualizing handovers in a mobile network in a graphical user interface. The thesis also covers software architecture and performance related issues as part of the software implementation process. The most important research problem was adjacency visualization on top of a geographical map. More specifically, the aim was to study what kind of icons and color usage were best suited for representing adjacencies and related information on the map, at the same time keeping in mind that the solution would have to work also in cases where a sizeable amount of objects as well as other information was to be shown. During the course of this study it came apparent that performance issues related to adjacency management had to be addressed as well. As a result of this study, useful solutions for adjacency visualization were found for Optimizer. SISTEM LAYANAN INFORMASI TAGIHAN TELEPON MELALUI SHORT MESSAGE SERVICE (SMS)

Short Message Service (SMS) adalah suatu layanan layanan global dengan sistem komunikasi nirkabel yang mentransmisikan pesan teks antara dua atau lebih handphone. Teks ini tersusun dari kata-kata atau sejumlah kombinasi karakter alphanumeric. Setiap pesan singkat SMS panjangnya adalah 160 karakter dalam huruf latin dan 70 karakter untuk huruf non latin seperti penggunaan huruf Arab dan China. Pada Tugas Akhir ini Penulis mencoba untuk memanfaatkan layanan Short Message Service (SMS) dari sebuah handphone sebagai alternatif media informasi tagihan telepon rumah. Diharapkan dengan penggunaan layanan SMS kendala seperti mobilitas dari pelanggan dan kondisi layanan billing yang memiliki tingkat ketersediaan rendah dapat diatasi karena pelanggan dapat mengaksesnya setiap saat dan dimana saja. Sistem ini mempunyai kelebihan yaitu informasi tagihan telepon dapat divisualisasikan dalam bentuk SMS. Sistem ini bekerja secara otomatis dengan mengolah pesan yang masuk sebagai pemicu sistem untuk melakukan pengiriman SMS secara otomatis yang berisi informasi tagihan telepon kepada pelanggan

Investigating Mesospheric Gravity Wave Dynamics and Temperature Variability over the Andes

Observations of mesospheric OH(6,2) temperatures by the Utah State University Mesospheric Temperature Mapper located at Cerro Pachon, Chile (30.3°S, 70.7°S) reveal a large range of nightly variations induced by atmospheric gravity waves and tides, as well as strong seasonal oscillations. Comparative studies with other data sets including the satellite-borne SABER instrument show good agreement on nightly, as well as seasonal, temperature measurements
