    Outdoor training como metodología para potenciar la inteligencia emocional en niños y adolescentes

    Actualmente el talento es palabra clave para cualquier tipo de organización e institución. Apoyados por un cambio de mentalidad, que coincide con la entrada del siglo XXI, las investigaciones comienzan a poner en duda el CI (coeficiente de inteligencia) como factor predominante para alcanzar éxito social y profesional, pasando a defender el CE (coeficiente emocional). Así, defendemos su perfeccionamiento en niños y jóvenes para dotarlos de competencias diferenciadoras y así poder desarrollar talentos. El Outdoor Training, que coloca a los individuos en contextos naturales fuera de su zona de conforto, se ha mostrado como una metodología que permite mayor eficacia y rapidez de aprendizaje que el modelo tradicional. En este taller pretendemos demostrar cómo se pueden trabajar competencias socioemocionales en niños y jóvenes utilizando esta metodología. Iremos a desarrollar cuatro actividades de outdoor que permitan a los participantes pasar por la experiencia y así poder evaluar la pertinencia y el impacto de esta metodología. El taller será realizado con un máximo de 24 personas, en ambiente outdoor (fuera de sala de aula, en los jardines de la universidad). Un equipo de investigadores del área de outdoor training e inteligencia emocional irá a dinamizar el taller en el terreno. El taller será evaluado por medio de entrevistas y cuestionarios de apreciación.Currently the talent is the key word for any type of organization or institution. Outdoor Training, which places individuals in natural settings outside their comfort zone, has proved to be a methodology that enables better and faster learning than the traditional method. In this workshop we intend to demonstrate how socioemotional skills can be worked in children and young people using this methodology. It will be developed four outdoor activities that allow participants to go through the experience and be able to assess the relevance and impact of this methodology. The workshop will be conduct with a maximum of 30 people, outdoor environment (off living classroom, on the grounds of the university). A team of researchers in the area of outdoor training and emotional intelligence will energized the workshop on the ground.     Recent developments on the thermal properties, stability and applications of nanofluids in machining, solar energy and biomedicine

    In this review work, the recent progress made in the use of nanofluids (NFs) applied in three specific areas will be presented: machining, solar energy, and biomedical engineering. Within this context, the discussions will be guided by emphasizing the thermal and stability properties of these fluids. In machining, NFs play a prominent role in the processes of turning, milling, drilling, and grinding, being responsible for their optimization as well as improving the useful life of the tools and reducing costs. In the solar energy field, NFs have been used in the thermal management of the panels, controlling and homogenizing the operating temperature of these systems. In the biomedical area, the advantages of using NFs come from the treatment of cancer cells, the development of vaccines before the improvement of diagnostic imaging, and many others. In all lines of research mentioned in this study, the main parameters that have limited or encouraged the use of these fluids are also identified and debated.     A review of novel heat transfer materials and fluids for aerospace applications

    The issue of thermal control for space missions has been critical since the early space missions in the late 1950s. The demands in such environments are heightened, characterized by significant temperature variations and the need to manage substantial densities of heat. The current work offers a comprehensive survey of the innovative materials and thermal fluids employed in the aerospace technological area. In this scope, the materials should exhibit enhanced reliability for facing maintenance and raw materials scarcity. The improved thermophysical properties of the nanofluids increase the efficiency of the systems, allowing the mass/volume reduction in satellites, rovers, and spacecraft. Herein are summarized the main findings from a literature review of more than one hundred works on aerospace thermal management. In this sense, relevant issues in aerospace convection cooling were reported and discussed, using heat pipes and heat exchangers, and with heat transfer ability at high velocity, low pressure, and microgravity. Among the main findings, it could be highlighted the fact that these novel materials and fluids provide enhanced thermal conductivity, stability, and insulation, enhancing the heat transfer capability and preventing the malfunctioning, overheating, and degradation over time of the systems. The resulting indicators will contribute to strategic mapping knowledge and further competence.     Supported by a change of mentality, which coincides with the entry of the century, the investigations begin to question the intelligence quotient as a predominant factor in achieving social and professional success, going to defend the emotional quotient. Thus, we advocate its improvement in children and young people to equip them with differentiating competencies. Outdoor Training, which places individuals in natural settings outside their comfort zone, is shown as a methodology to better and faster learning than the traditional model. For this reason, it is being developed at this time a research project that aims to assess whether the methodology of outdoor training, used to work socio-emotional skills in executives, is also valid for working competences in children in basic education. For this, we chose an experimental study, which includes 162 students from two public schools in 1.º cycle of basic education Funchal Council, a group operating as an experimental group ( 83 students ) who participate in outdoor training activities during the academic year 2013/2014, and a control group (79 students). Children will be assessed at two points, at the beginning and end of the school year through the following instruments: the Bar -On Emotional Quotient Inventory test: Youth Version (Candeias and Rebocho, 2007), the Test of Emotional Comprehension (TEC, Ponst , Harris, and de Rosnay, 2004), the questionnaire Socially in Action (Socialmente em Acção, SA, Candeias, 2008), Social Cognitive Test Inteligência (Prueva Cognitiva de Inteligência Social, PCIS, Candeias, 2007); Raven’s progressive matrices (Simões , 2000) and the Piers-Harris Children’s Self-Concept Scale (PHCSCS -2, Veiga , 2006). By now it was made the first evaluation and are being developed outdoor training activities with the experimental group. Así, defendemos su perfeccionamiento en niños y jóvenes para dotarlos de competencias diferenciadoras. El Outdoor Training, que coloca a los individuos en contextos naturales fuera de su zona de conforto, se ha mostrado como una metodología que permite mayor eficacia y rapidez de aprendizaje que el modelo tradicional. Por esta razón, está siendo desarrollado en este momento un proyecto de investigación que pretende evaluar si la metodología de outdoor training, utilizada para trabajar competencias socioemocionales en empresarios, es también válida para trabajar competencia de niños de educación básica. Para tal, optamos por un estudio experimental, que incluye 162 alumnos de dos escuelas públicas de 1.º ciclo de educación básica del Concejo de Funchal, funcionando un grupo como grupo experimental (83 alumnos), que participará en actividades de outdoor training durante el año lectivo 2013/2014; y un grupo de control (79 alumnos). Los niños serán evaluados en dos momentos, al inicio y al final del año lectivo a través de los siguientes instrumentos: el test Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory: Youth Version (Candeias y Rebocho, 2007); el Test of Emotional Comprehension (TEC, Ponst, Harris, y de Rosnay, 2004); el cuestionario Socialmente em Acção (SA, Candeias, 2008); la Prueba Cognitiva de Inteligência Social (PCIS, Candeias, 2007); las matrizes progressivas coloridas de Ravem (MPCR, Simões, 2000) y el Piers-Harris Children’s Self-Concept Scale (PHCSCS-2 Veiga, 2006).     TLR9 Signaling Suppresses the Canonical Plasma Cell Differentiation Program in Follicular B Cells

    The relative potency and quality of mouse B cell response to Toll-like receptors (TLRs) signaling varies significantly depending on the B cell subset and on the TLR member being engaged. Although it has been shown that marginal zone cells respond faster than follicular (FO) splenic B cells to TLR4 stimulus, FO B cells retain full capacity to proliferate and generate plasmablasts and plasma cells (PBs/PCs) with 2–3 days delayed kinetics. It is not clear whether this scenario could be extended to other members of the TLR family. Here, using quantitative cell culture conditions optimized for B cell growth and differentiation, we show that TLR9 signaling by CpG, while promoting vigorous proliferation, completely fails to induce differentiation of FO B cells into PBs/PCs. Little or absent Ig secretion following TLR9 stimulus was accompanied by lack of expression of cell surface markers and canonical transcription factors involved in PB/PC differentiation. Moreover, not only TLR9 did not induce plasmocyte differentiation, but it also strongly inhibited the massive PB/PC differentiation of FO B cells triggered by LPS/TLR4. Our study reveals unexpected opposite roles for TLR4 and TLR9 in the control of plasma cell differentiation program and disagrees with previous conclusions obtained in high-density cultures conditions on the generation of plasmocytes by TRL9 signaling. The potential implications of these findings on the role of TLR9 in controlling self-tolerance, clonal sizes and regulation of humoral responses are discussed

    Modelo de análise da produção científica em Programas de Pós-Graduação com base em redes de interação: estudo de caso nas Ciências Ambientais

    A avaliação permanente dos Programas de Pós-Graduação (PPG) constitui importante instrumento para melhoria no cenário de conhecimento científico e no desenvolvimento tecnológico no Brasil. O objetivo do artigo foi desenvolver um modelo para análise da produção científica dos PPG, utilizando recursos de redes de interação, com recorte para as ciências ambientais, visando detectar padrões e conexões entre eles. O recorte da pesquisa abrangeu todos os 112 PPG e os cursos da Área de Ciências Ambientais da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoas de Nível Superior (CAPES), no período de 2013 a 2016. A metodologia foi dividida em quatro etapas: 1. coleta de dados e construção de um banco de dados (informações públicas obtidas em consulta à Plataforma Sucupira — CAPES); 5. mineração e processamento dos dados e a produção de uma rede geral para representar os termos e os temas de maior relevância comuns a todas as produções dos PPG (teses, dissertações, projetos de pesquisas, artigos, livros e capítulos de livros); 3. análise das redes semânticas; 4. geração de produtos. Os resultados da pesquisa retornaram como produtos mapas de proximidade geográfica e de agrupamentos, que permitiram analisar a produção dos PPG das Ciências Ambientais em relação aos seus temas centrais, de forma integrada. A metodologia empregada se mostrou bastante robusta e apropriada para contribuir na avaliação dos programas de pós-graduação brasileiros, bem como para identificar lacunas na pesquisa e áreas emergentes em escala nacional, culminando em uma proposta de modelo que, a partir das redes semânticas, analisem as produções científicas nas avaliações quadrienais

    A Semana Integrada do Meio Ambiente de Bauru (SIMAB) (https://sites.bauru.sp.gov.br/simab/projeto.aspx) é um evento que ocorre anualmente na cidade, durante a 1ª semana do mês de junho, envolvendo Instituições públicas e privadas, que contribui diretamente e/ou indiretamente na promoção de atividades envolvendo o tema “meio ambiente”. A USP de Bauru é uma das instituições parceiras do projeto, atuando dentro do campus através de eventos temáticos, com o objetivo de conscientizar sobre responsabilidade socioambiental. Durante essa semana, temos a distribuição de compostos orgânicos (https://www.mma.gov.br/informma/item/7594-compostagem), produzidos pela própria instituição, por meio da compostagem do lixo orgânico (restos de preparo de alimentos e podas/folhas de varrição) recolhido pela mesma. Também realizamos a Campanha “Diga Não Ao Desperdício” no Restaurante Universitário do Campus USP Bauru, na qual é feita a pesagem das sobras das bandejas dos usuários, visando avaliar a quantidade de alimentos desperdiçados e levantar dados sobre desperdício dentro da instituição que ajudem a estabelecer estratégias de incentivo ao consumo consciente. Além disso, promovemos a Feira de Trocas (BURSZTYN; BURSZTYN, 2012), que visa encorajar o consumo a partir da reutilização de materiais, de forma descontraída para cativar o público e buscar adesão da comunidade interna e externa. Durante estes três eventos, o grupo PET Odontologia tem participação direta, atuando na promoção de informação e conscientização acerca da adoção de atitudes sustentáveis, voltadas à comunidade do Campus de Bauru, o que mostrou produtivo no desenvolvimento de competências éticas e atitudinais dos estudantes. O objetivo do trabalho é a implementação de ações educativas, reflexivas e resolutivas pautadas nos 3 Rs (reduzir, reutilizar e reciclar), além de contribuir com discussões acerca da necessidade de incorporação de valores socioambientais e boas práticas ambientais no cotidiano, dentro do que está ao nosso alcance como indivíduo, por vezes negligenciadas na rotina estudantil
