The study is focused on revealing the ideational metafunction of the text by utilizing transitivity analysis which identifies the process, participant, and circumstance of a clause. The main data are twelve university students’ Narrative texts (six male and six female students). The transitivity analysis is examined in three main perspectives: the representation of male and female characters in all students’ Narrative texts, in male students’ Narrative texts and those of female students, and in groups of high, middle, and low achievers of male and female students’ Narrative texts. The present study is completed with interview. In all twelve students’ Narrative texts, perpetuation of male domination and female subordination in language is found. Male characters are relatively more visible with higher frequency of occurrences, more significant roles of participant, and higher number of circumstantial elements. However, the students are found to favor the character that has the same sex type with them but there is still a tendency of female students to portray female characters more as the affected participant in material process. Particularly, it occurs in the groups of female-middle and female-low achiever students. Meanwhile, the female-high achievers show a distinct ability to represent female characters in relatively more powerful and active roles. From the interview, mass media is the most influencing factor in developing the students’ understanding upon gender roles and relationship within society. Keywords: Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), gender representation

One of the skills in the writing aspect of Indonesian language subjects at the elementary school level is writing pantun. This classroom action research was carried out to overcome the difficulties in writing pantun that many grade 5 students still experience. Several factors cause these difficulties. The internal factor is that students do not have broad ideas and vocabulary so they are confused when writing pantun, and the external factor is the lack of use of innovative learning models and learning media. The researcher used the classroom action research method by applying the multiliteracy transformation model assisted by poster media to overcome the difficulties of writing the pantun. The subjects studied were 34 students in class 5A at SDN 1 Ciwareng. The instruments used to obtain data were observation sheets and pantun writing skills tests. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded: 1) The learning activities of class 5A students at SD Negeri 1 Ciwareng have increased from cycle I to cycle II and 2) The rhyme writing skills of class 5A students have increased in value after being given treatment with the assisted transformation multiliteracy model poster media on pantun writing skills. This research was motivated by the low story listening skills of students. Based on the results of pre-cycle data, the story listening skills of class IV students at SDN 8 Nagrikaler are still low. So, the researchers took action by implementing the Think Pair Share model assisted by media literacy cloud during the learning process with the aim of improving students' story listening skills. This research was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method with the design of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart goes through 2 cycles and begins with a pre-cycle. This research was carried out at SDN 8 Nagrikaler with research subjects of 28 students consisting of 12 female students and 16 male students. There was an increase in story listening skills after implementing the Think Pair Share learning model assisted by literacy cloud which was obtained from the results of teacher and student activities as well as student learning outcomes. The results of teacher and student activities showed an increase in cycle I of 70% in the good category and in Cycle II 100% in the very good category. The average student story listening skills test results in the pre-cycle were 51 with the number of students completing 5 students. Cycle I obtained an average score of 61 with 12 students completing and a completion percentage of 43%. Cycle II obtained an average score of 80 with the number of students completing 24 students and a completion percentage of 86%. Thus, the application of the Think Pair Share learning model assisted by media literacy cloud can improve the story listening skills of class IV students

Beginning reading and writing or MMP is a learning program that is oriented towards beginning reading and writing skills in the early grades when students start entering school. Mastering initial reading skills is the foundation for children to be able to progress to the next stage of reading. This research aims to determine the effect of the numbered head together model assisted by big book media on the beginning reading ability of class I students, as well as to find out whether there is an improvement between experimental class students who are better than control class students. The type of research used was a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The subjects in this study consisted of 56 grade I elementary school students. The instruments used were initial reading ability tests and observation sheets. The results of data analysis show that the influence of the numbered head-together model assisted by big book media on the initial reading ability of class I students is 79.9%. The results of the n-gain test for the experimental class were in the medium interpretation and the control class was in the low interpretation.
