Spatial-temporal redistribution of point defects in three-layer stressed nanoheterosystems within the framework of self-assembled deformation-diffusion model

The model of spatial-temporal distribution of point defects in a three-layer stressed nanoheterosystem GaAs/Inx_xGa1x_{1 - x}As/GaAs considering the self-assembled deformation-diffusion interaction is constructed. Within the framework of this model, the profile of spatial-temporal distribution of vacancies (interstitial atoms) in the stressed nanoheterosystem GaAs/Inx_xGa1x_{1 - x}As/GaAs is calculated. It is shown that in the case of a stationary state (t>5τd(2)t > 5\tau _d^{(2)}), the concentration of vacancies in the inhomogeneously compressed interlayer is smaller relative to the initial average value Nd0(2)N_{d0}^{(2)} by 16%Comment: 12 pages, 5 figure

Mechanics and Mathematical Modeling of Class III Treatment with Orthodontic Appliances with a Movable Ramp

Treatment of class III is a current problem in orthodontics that requires constant improvement of its methods, development of new or modifications of known methods and techniques. We have developed and studied the modification of removable functionally-directing orthodontic appliances for treatment of Class III, which consists of a plastic base, vestibular arc, retaining clasps, ramp, which is connected with the base by means of two torsion springs. Its usage ensures a prolonged contact of ramp with the teeth. We studied two types of club-shaped springs (torsion springs): one spring, which create an amortization effect during the action of the ramp, but do not change its inclination angle and second one – spring that seek to increase the angle of the ramp inclination due to the disclosure of its curl

Suppressed star formation in circumnuclear regions in Seyfert galaxies

Feedback from black hole activity is widely believed to play a key role in regulating star formation and black hole growth. A long-standing issue is the relation between the star formation and fueling the supermassive black holes in active galactic nuclei (AGNs). We compile a sample of 57 Seyfert galaxies to tackle this issue. We estimate the surface densities of gas and star formation rates in circumnuclear regions (CNRs). Comparing with the well-known Kennicutt-Schmidt (K-S) law, we find that the star formation rates in CNRs of most Seyfert galaxies are suppressed in this sample. Feedback is suggested to explain the suppressed star formation rates.Comment: 1 color figure and 1 table. ApJ Letters in pres

Post-Newtonian Theory for Precision Doppler Measurements of Binary Star Orbits

    Get PDF
The determination of velocities of stars from precise Doppler measurements is described here using relativistic theory of astronomical reference frames so as to determine the Keplerian and post-Keplerian parameters of binary systems. We apply successive Lorentz transformations and the relativistic equation of light propagation to establish the exact treatment of Doppler effect in binary systems both in special and general relativity theories. As a result, the Doppler shift is a sum of (1) linear in c1c^{-1} terms, which include the ordinary Doppler effect and its variation due to the secular radial acceleration of the binary with respect to observer; (2) terms proportional to c2c^{-2}, which include the contributions from the quadratic Doppler effect caused by the relative motion of binary star with respect to the Solar system, motion of the particle emitting light and diurnal rotational motion of observer, orbital motion of the star around the binary's barycenter, and orbital motion of the Earth; and (3) terms proportional to c2c^{-2}, which include the contributions from redshifts due to gravitational fields of the star, star's companion, Galaxy, Solar system, and the Earth. After parameterization of the binary's orbit we find that the presence of periodically changing terms in the Doppler schift enables us disentangling different terms and measuring, along with the well known Keplerian parameters of the binary, four additional post-Keplerian parameters, including the inclination angle of the binary's orbit, ii. We briefly discuss feasibility of practical implementation of these theoretical results, which crucially depends on further progress in the technique of precision Doppler measurements.Comment: Minor changes, 1 Figure included, submitted to Astrophys.

For the first time, an integrated approach based on the assessment of the technical and tactical skills of basketball players in combination with the psychological selection was used for selectionthe candidates for the Ukrainian cadet team. From the 144 athletes, who participated in the Ukrainian Championship, 36 players were selected based on the level of technical and tactical skills. According to the results of the psychological tests main characteristics of basketball players were defended and recommendations for coaches were given. As a result, 18 players, who were selected using psychological methods, had better technical and tactical mastery. They took part in the training process for preparation for the main competitions of the year (European Championship). Commercial ingots and hot-pressed rolled sections of Al-Mg-Mn alloy doped with zinc, scandium, zirconium, chromium, and vanadium have been studied using optical microscopy, thermal analysis, electron microscopy, and electron-probe microanalysis. The compositions of the phase constituents and aluminum matrix of the alloy are determined. The sensitivity of the alloy to the formation of complex intermetallic compounds during solidification is revealed. The mechanical properties of ingots and rolled sections are determined. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd

Assessing the Adaptation of the Population of Russian Regions to Digital Technologies

Currently, digitalisation of public life is one of the most important external challenges that requires active adaptation of the population to new realities. Russia has been quite successfully implementing digital technologies, ranking in the middle of various world ratings. However, Russian regions significantly differ in terms of the population adaptation to digital technologies. We hypothesise that adaptation speed depends on demographic characteristics of the regional population. In this regard, the paper aims to develop a methodology and tools for assessing the adaptation of the population of Russian regions to digital technologies. The study employs data of a sample observation on the state of the information society in 2014–2020 obtained from the Federal State Statistics Service. Methods of statistical, cartographic, factor and regression analysis, as well as the econometric estimates conducted in the R software environment were used. Constructed econometric models show that gender and place of residence (urban or rural settlement) are the most important adaptation factors in Russian regions. In particular, urban women more actively use the Internet for shopping, while urban women and rural men use it to receive public services. Active acquisition of digital competencies by the population reduces the importance of some barrier factors (restrictions), such as the cost of connection (Internet connection becomes a basic need) and the lack of skills. While the identified effects differ in magnitude, they are significant for almost all Russian regions. The developed research methodology can be applied in future studies to analyse other aspects of social and economic adaptation of the regional population to current challenges. The findings can be used for justifying and implementing the public policy measures, in particular, the national project “Digital Economy”

Purpose of work is to determine an amount of influence from region’s innovative activity on effective usage of current scientific-research potential. Innovative activity of regions in many respects depends on the availability and efficient use of the existing research capacity. The main components of the research capacities in the region are: interest of universities, employers and society in research and development and their implementation in practice; development of research infrastructure; and a focus of higher education on the innovative activity of students; financial and tax support of enterprises engaged in innovative activities, from the stat
