    When technology-based learning is the only option : evaluating perceived usefulness of social media

    During unusual times involving discontinued face to face sessions in formal education settings, mobile learning (m-learning) involving social networking sites has become a popular alternative since students are always in possession of handheld electronic devices. When connection through technology was the only option due to social distancing in current pandemic, students who were already active extensive users of social networks found online learning as a new way of getting formal education. The objective of this study was to explore how the state of student’s behavioral intention for social media based online learning is driven by external factors like subjective norm and self-efficacy. To fulfill this aim, this study uses a quantitative approach to study the factors that mediate the decision behavior of students towards social media employed as a learning platform and use of m-learning involving social networks. A sample of management science students (n= 255) from four universities participated in the research. Analysis of data suggested that subjective norm and self-efficacy were significant predictors for student participation in e-learning initiatives involving social media and networks. The proposed serial mediation model revealed that self-efficacy and perceived usefulness in that order were playing a positive significant role in student use of social networking for learning. No significant differences were observed between either gender when self-efficacy, perceived usefulness, and use of social media in education were considered. © 202

    Leadership role in promoting childhood education: Perception of practitioners in Pakistan

    Early childhood care and education (ECCE) is a significant stage to develop responsible generations. Holistic child development may be possible through a plan of early childhood education (ECE) and early learning. This study is planned to explore the role of school leadership in promoting ECCE in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), Pakistan. This research study may play a significant role in sensitizing the educationist, practitioners, pedagogical leadership in early learning centers, and political leadership. The study was quantitative in nature. In the first step, a stratified sampling technique was used to select the districts among the three divisions of AJK. In the second step, a simple random sampling technique was used. Self-developed a five-point Likert scale questionnaire was used to collect the data. The study concluded that leadership plays a significant role in promoting ECCE. It is encouraging that educational leadership involves parents in the process of teaching-learning. Learners are happy in the school activities, and academic leadership is planning to minimize the workload of kids. It is recommended that children may be facilitated with better infrastructure

    Effects of hyperglycemia on coronary perfusion & left ventricular function in patients treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention for acute ST elevation myocardial infarction

    Objective: To observe the effect of hyperglycemia on coronary perfusion and left ventricular function in patients treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention for acute ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Methodology: This descriptive case series study was conducted at Cardiology Department of Gulab Devi Chest Hospital, Lahore from October 2017 to November 2018.  Consecutive patients presenting with acute ST elevation myocardial infarction were included in this study. After coronary angiography and revascularization, coronary perfusion was assessed using TIMI flow grade method. Glycosylated hemoglobin levels were also measured on the same day. Hyperglycemia was defined as HbA1c >7%. A comprehensive transthoracic echocardiogram was performed to assess the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) 24 hours after procedure.   Results: Hyperglycemia was observed in 91 (39.2%) patients presented with acute STEMI. Patients with hyperglycemia had significantly lower LVEF than normoglycemic patients (55.00 ± 19.00 vs 45.00 ± 15.00, p-value=0.001). Multivariate analysis showed that hyperglycemia is an independent predictor of LV dysfunction, defined as LVEF ≤40% 24 hours after the procedure (OR=2.522, p-value =0.002). While no statistically significant association was observed between hyperglycemia and post PPCI impaired coronary perfusion (p=0.492). Conclusion: The association between hyperglycemia (HbA1c >7%) upon hospital admission and left ventricular dysfunction in acute MI patients treated with PPCI is explained by lower left ventricular ejection fraction (≤ 40%) 24 hours after the procedure. But there is no statistically significant effect of hyperglycemia on post PCI coronary perfusion. Thus, we conclude that persistent hyperglycemia influences the post PPCI left ventricular functions in STEMI patients

    Extending the technology acceptance model for use of e-learning systems by digital learners

    Technology-based learning systems enable enhanced student learning in higher-education institutions. This paper evaluates the factors affecting behavioral intention of students toward using e-learning systems in universities to augment classroom learning. Based on the technology acceptance model, this paper proposes six external factors that influence the behavioral intention of students toward use of e-learning. A quantitative approach involving structural equation modeling is adopted, and research data collected from 437 undergraduate students enrolled in three academic programs is used for analysis. Results indicate that subjective norm, perception of external control, system accessibility, enjoyment, and result demonstrability have a significant positive influence on perceived usefulness and on perceived ease of use of the e-learning system. This paper also examines the relevance of some previously used external variables, e.g., self-efficacy, experience, and computer anxiety, for present-world students who have been brought up as digital learners and have higher levels of computer literacy and experience. © 2018 IEEE

    Effect of Employer Branding Attributes on Talent Retention with Mediating Role of Transformational Leadership

    The purpose of this paper is to empirically examine, the relationship between employer branding attributes and transformational leadership on talent retention in telecom sector of Pakistan. This study involves the data collected from questionnaire. The respondent were employees and employers of telecom industry of Pakistan. Our sample size comprise of 250 employees includes both male, female of different age group out of which data from 181 respondents were entered into Statistical Package for the Social Sciences SPSS-19. Data are analyzed by means of descriptive statistics, bivariate correlations and regression through SPSS-19 and Smart PLS. Our findings indicate that employer branding attributes like reward strategy, people orientedness, and perceived organizational support are positivity relation with talent retention whereas the training and development is not showing significant relation with talent retentions.     Organizational Commitment & Work Engagement Affected by Knowledge management: Evidence from banking sector of Pakistan

    Current study is intended to explore the influence of knowledge management (KM) on organizational commitment and work engagement of the banking employees. Paper examines the dimensions of knowledge management that can influence the effective elements of employee performance.        Five dimensions of knowledge management practices are bootstrapped on the organizational commitment and work engagement. Data collected form the different banks of Punjab, Pakistan by including 171 usable questionnaires. Data analysis was done with the help of SPSS and smart PLS. Results reveals that knowledge sharing, codification and retention helps in boosting organizational commitment of employees while knowledge creating, retention and sharing has a significant impact on work engagement. Knowledge management construct is not discussed as a complete construct as researchers opt some of its dimensions. Moreover, KM relationship with organizational commitment and work engagement is missing in the past literature. Knowledge creation, retention and sharing has a strong influence on the organizational commitment and work engagement. Managers should implement KM processes to uplift the knowledge of workers but also to boost their commitment and work engagement

    Impact of Motivation and Performance Expectancy on Women Entrepreneurial Intention

    The purpose of this paper is to review the Motivation and performance expectancy to explore the commonalities of the present theories among the women entrepreneur intentions to boost up the business enterprises. In a fact-finding study information were gathered about the aptitude of motivation and performance expectancy to foresee the Intention of the women’s being examined by the sample of 150women in Pakistan March 2020. A mixed method evaluation design has been adopted in this study. Analysis of regression model uncovered the result that the connection between performance expectations and motivation was intruded positively by entrepreneurial intention of women toward business. The sample is restricted to women entrepreneurs, limiting the generalizability of the findings. The analyses of the influence of motivation variable towards women entrepreneurial intention furnishes us with inspiration to inquire about on the developing questions of how and why females are turning out to be more business people these days. This research supports the progression of study on motivation, performance expectancy variables and its relationship to women entrepreneurial intention in an assortment of settings
