[Resumo] As relações interpessoais, criadas em cada interacção verbal constituem uma dimensão fundamental da construção discursiva. Em Contos da Montanha, Miguel Torga retrata/ cria uma sociedade rural cujo traço dominante e primeiro parece ser o da solidariedade. Mas a estrutura social só aparentemente é simples. As formas de tratamento, em particular, mostram a especificidade das relações interpessoais, que irei analisar, de acordo com os eixos de distância, poder e conflito, que propõe Catherine Kerbrat-Orecchioni (1992) na sequência de Brown e Levinson (1987).[Abstract] Interpersonal relations, created in every verbal interaction, constitute a fundamental dimension of the discursive construction. La reprise dissensuelle dans le discours politique parlementaire – du dialogal au dialogique

On analyse les reprises dialogiques dissensuelles en relation avec la structuration dialogale du débat parlementaire portugais. C’est une des stratégies discursives adoptées par les débatteurs pour rendre leur parole efficace, leur discours résistant, et affaiblir, ainsi, le discours d’autrui. On considère ces questions à partir de l’alternance des tours de parole et des marques langagières de la reprise du discours de l’autre.We analyze the dialogic and agonistic repetitions in relation to the dialogal structure of the Portuguese parliamentary debate. That is one of the discourse strategies adopted by participants in order to make their words effective and dominant, and weaken, therefore, the opponent’s words. Debate eleitoral português: presidencialização e estratégias de atenuação linguística em situação de confronto político

 Num contexto de progressiva presidencialização das campanhas eleitorais para eleições legislativas, pretende-se estudar a atenuação como uma característica do debate político eleitoral português, um gênero do discurso político marcado pela interseção com o discurso mediático televisivo. O debate político eleitoral é um gênero agónico, de confronto direto entre participantes-adversários, que pretendem obter a adesão dos eleitores pelas propostas que apresentam e também, senão sobretudo, pela descredibilização do adversário político. Este confronto não é, contudo, absoluto, pois os interlocutores têm que garantir dimensões básicas da comunicação política, assegurando, pela construção, negociação e cogestão da relação interpessoal, a preservação de uma imagem individual positiva na relação com o eleitorado. Estabelecemos como hipótese que, neste processo, a atenuação linguística constitui uma estratégia nuclear, realizada em cada momento do debate segundo procedimentos linguístico-discursivos diversos. O debate eleitoral analisado realizou-se em maio de 2011, na RTP, entre Pedro Passos Coelho, líder do Partido Social Democrata, e futuro primeiro-ministro, e José Sócrates, do Partido Socialista, primeiro-ministro em funções, na altura. In a context of increasing presidentialization of legislative election campaigns, I aim to study mitigation as a feature of the Portuguese electoral political debate, a genre of political discourse marked by the intersection with the television media discourse. It is a discursive genre of confrontation between participants-adversaries, seeking for the adhesion of voters by the proposals that they present and also, if not mainly, by the discredit of the political opponent. However, confrontation is not absolute, as the interlocutors must guarantee basic dimensions of political communication, ensuring by the construction, negotiation and co-management of the interpersonal relationship the preservation of a positive individual image in relation to the electorate. I hypothesize that, in this process, linguistic mitigation constitutes a nuclear strategy, carried out in each moment of the debate according to different linguistic-discursive mechanisms. The electoral debate here analysed was held in May 2011 in RTP between Pedro Passos Coelho, leader of the Social Democratic Party, and future prime minister, and José Sócrates, of the Socialist Party, prime minister in office, at the time.

Referring to discourse participants in European Portuguese: the form of address o senhor

We will examine the uses of the noun phrase o senhor (formal 'you'), as well as its linguistic and discourse status. As a form of address, it has acquired features that are typical of pronominal forms of address, with bleaching of semantic traits that point to an ongoing process of grammaticalization. In European Portuguese, despite being an issue that has been addressed several times, a comparison of the existing theoretical explanations has yet to be accomplished. Furthermore, its usage has not been analysed in different discourse contexts so as to attest to these changes. It is therefore necessary to revive and broaden the discussion. The data we have employed in this analysis is taken from the corpus Perfil sociolinguístico da fala bracarense ('Sociolinguistic profile of Braga speech'), consisting of sociolinguistic interviews. We also built an ad hoc corpus, comprising political debates and interviews. In addition, for specific questions, some data was obtained from the CETEMPúblico corpus, and from the Davies & Ferreira corpus for diachronic data. The overall goal of this study is the analysis of the linguistic and discourse features of the address form o senhor. It is a qualitative approach, complemented by quantitative analysis of the occurrences recorded. The results of our study show that o senhor is a hybrid form of address, revealing features from the two categories, the nominal form of address and the pronominal form of address. A obra de Alain Rabatel, intitulada La Confrontation des Points de Vue dans la Dynamique Figurale des Discours, procede à apresentação, discussão e análise da figuralidade discursiva, questão central da retórica, repensada aqui a partir de um quadro enunciativo-pragmático. O trabalho desenvolve-se ao longo de 655 páginas, das quais 13 dedicadas ao índice e 41 a referências bibliográficas. A extensão do volume merece ao autor algumas palavras de explicação, por estar em contracorrente de um tempo em que a ligeireza e a brevidade parecem ser um imperativo

Discours présidentiels au Portugal. Un regard pluridisciplinaire

La République portugaise a été instaurée le 5 octobre 1910, à la suite d’un coup d’État qui a mis fin à huit siècles de monarchie. Les études sur cette institution républicaine et les discours présidentiels en particulier sont encore peu nombreux et récents. Les spécificités de ce cadre politique, un régime semi-présidentiel, sont un exemple parfait pour éclairer et justifier cette relative marginalisation des discours présidentiels en tant qu’objet de recherche, ce qui est cependant en train de changer. En adoptant un point de vue pluridisciplinaire, nous ne pouvons mieux faire que la synthèse des recherches et approches théoriques diversifiées des discours présidentiels au Portugal, en particulier, les genres de discours privilégiés, les méthodologies utilisées et les résultats obtenus.The Portuguese Republic was established on October 5, 1910, as a result of a coup that ended eight centuries of monarchy. Studies on the republican institution and particularly on presidential speeches are still few and recent. Specifics of the policy framework, a semi-presidential regime, allow clarify and justify this relative marginalization of presidential speeches as research subjects, a situation which, however, is changing. From a multidisciplinary perspective, we aim to make a synthesis of theoretical and methodological research of presidential speeches in Portugal, mainly of preferred discursive genres approaches, methodologies used and the results obtained.La República Portuguesa se instauró el 5 de octubre de 1910, como consecuencia de un golpe de estado que acabó con ocho siglos de monarquía. Los estudios sobre la institución republicana y, concretamente, sobre los discursos presidenciales son aún escasos y recientes. Plusieurs leaders politiques portugais ont participé à une émission humoristique sur une chaîne de télévision, pendant la campagne pour les élections législatives de 2009 au Portugal. En considérant les enjeux de cette spectacularisation de la politique, nous nous proposons d’étudier la façon dont les politiques négocient et cogèrent leurs discours pour en atténuer les risques et optimiser les bénéfices.Vários líderes políticos portugueses participaram num programa humorístico, numa cadeia de televisão, durante a campanha eleitoral para as eleições legislativas de 2009 em Portugal. Considerando as características e implicações desta espectacularização da política, propomo-nos estudar o modo como os políticos negoceiam e co-gerem os seus discursos de forma a atenuar os riscos e optimizar os benefícios.Several Portuguese political leaders attended a comedy show on television, during the campaign for the 2009 parliamentary elections in Portugal. Palavra de Presidente: construção da autoridade presidencial nos discursos de Abril

A celebração do 25 de Abril é um evento discursivo institucional que tem como momento central o discurso presidencial. O objetivo principal deste trabalho é analisar a construção da imagem de autoridade do locutor, segundo uma perspetiva teórica pragmático-enunciativa. Nos discursos de Abril, está em causa a função social-política de Presidente da República e a imagem de locutor que o género discursivo, o discurso de celebração nacional, prevê e se corporiza como expectativas dos interlocutores. Pretende-se considerar a construção do ethos presidencial, enquanto imagem de autoridade, em duas vertentes que conjugam a imagem institucional de Presidente da República com a imagem pública do Presidente da República. O corpus de análise é constituído pelos discursos presidenciais de celebração do 25 de Abril (até ao centenário da República), abrangendo os discursos dos quatro presidentes eleitos após o 25 de Abril

MULTIFUNCTIONALITY OF DISCOURSE MARKER "PORTANTO" IN BRAGA’S SPEECH

Multifunctionality of discourse marker portanto in Braga’s Speech. This paper explores the multifunctionality and usage patterns of the discourse marker portanto in Braga’s speech. Our main goal is to propose a revised description of portanto, while acknowledging the validity of previous research on the topic. The investigation focused on the co-occurrence of functions associated with portanto, emphasizing its pivotal role in speech construction. The frequency distribution of portanto usage was found to be consistent with earlier studies, affirming its most prevalent application as a filler (marker). Our study also highlighted that an excessive use of discourse markers can create the illusion of coherence, rather than genuinely ensuring it, especially in contexts characterized by frequent pauses, verbal hesitations, and syntactic interruptions. Furthermore, this research examined the influence of discourse genre on portanto’s usage patterns. Notably, the two predominant uses observed in Braga’s speech were linked to specific aspects of sociolinguistic interviews, particularly the recollection of life stories and features of spontaneous speech. The findings enrich our understanding of this discourse marker's multifaceted role in facilitating coherent communication and its significance in various speech contexts. REZUMAT. Multifuncționalitatea marcatorului discursiv portanto în graiul din Braga. Acest articol explorează multifuncționalitatea și modelele de utilizare ale marcatorului discursiv portanto în graiul din Braga. Scopul nostru principal este să propunem o descriere revizuită a marcatorului portanto, recunoscând în același timp validitatea cercetărilor anterioare. Cercetarea noastră s-a concentrat asupra co-ocurenței funcțiilor marcatorului portanto, care subliniază rolul esențial al acestuia în coeziunea discursului. Distribuția frecvenței utilizării lui portanto s-a dovedit a fi în concordanță cu studiile anterioare, confirmând că cea mai frecventă utilizare este de marcator. Studiul nostru a subliniat, de asemenea, că utilizarea excesivă a marcatorilor discursivi poate crea iluzia coerenței, fără însă a o asigura cu adevărat, mai ales în contexte caracterizate de pauze frecvente, ezitări verbale și discontinuități sintactice. În plus, cercetarea noastră a examinat și influența genului discursiv asupra modelelor de utilizare ale marcatorului portanto. Cele două utilizări predominante observate în graiul din Braga au fost influențate de aspecte specifice ale interviurilor sociolingvistice, în special nararea poveștilor de viață și trăsăturile discursului spontan. Concluziile noastre contribuie la înțelegerea rolului multifațetat al acestui marcator discursiv în facilitarea comunicării coerente și clarifică sensurile sale în mai multe contexte.
