Rectal Dieulafoy Lesions: A Rare Etiology of Chronic Lower Gastrointestinal Bleeding

Dieulafoy lesion is rarely seen, yet it can be life-threatening. This lesion makes up to 1-2% of gastrointestinal bleedings and must definitely be considered in gastrointestinal bleedings whose source cannot be identified. In this case study, the 75-year-old woman was suffering from active, fresh, and massive rectal bleeding. Colonoscopy was applied in order to find out the source of bleeding. In the typical endoscopic appearance of the lesion a single round mucosal defect in the rectum and arterial bleeding were observed. To procure hemostasis, epinephrine was injected into the lesion and the bleeding vein was sutured

Objective: The aim of current study was to investigate the interaction between factors such as personality, catastrophizing, mood disturbance and disease severity, which may affect the quality of life in patients with multiple sclerosis. The result of this study can identify the factors that have an impact on quality of life among these patients and hopefully it may lead to improve the services provided for these patients. Design: One hundred and thirteen participants with multiple sclerosis completed the following questionnaires: Type D Personality (DS-14), Hospital Anxiety and Depression (HADS), Illness Perception (Brief-IPQ) and Quality of Life (SF-36). The Expanded Disability Statue Scale (EDSS) assessed disease severity. Main Outcome Measures: Data was analyzed in structural equation modeling. Results: Type D personality was associated with quality of life and the relationship was mediated by disease severity, catastrophizing and mood status. Conclusion: Results showed a significant relationship between Type D personality and QOL. However, when the variables were added to the model, the relationship ceased to exist. These results suggest that personality traits are indirectly associated with QOL, mediated by another variable. Quality of Life Model in Multiple Sclerosis: Personality, Mood Disturbance, Catastrophizing and Disease Severity

Adenocarcinomas constitute 90 % of gallbladder tumors and most of them are well or moderately differentiated tumors. Pure mucinous adenocarcinoma is rarely seen, and very limited number of related case reports have been reported in the literature. In this article, we aimed to present a case which a 89 year old female presented with clinics symptoms of acute cholecystitis and with the finding a palpable mass in the right lower quadrant. She had emergent cholecystectomy and periportal lymph node sampling because of the clinic progression and diagnosed with pure mucinous adenocarcinoma in pathologic assessment

A rare cause of intra-abdomınal cystic lesion: mesenterıc cystic lymphangioma

Lymphangiomas are the benign cystic masses that resulted from the proliferation of lymp-hatic vessels due to lymphatic blockage in the lymphatic system. Usually localized in the axil-la and neck and often encountered in the pe-diatric age group. Abdominal lymphangiomas in the differential diagnosis of mesenteric cysts are very rare lesions and often localized in the small bowel mesentery. It presented with dif-ferent symptoms depending on the size and location of the cyst. In the literature, less than of 200 cases of abdominal lymphangioma have been reported in all age groups. In this article, we aim to present the case of mesenteric ab-dominal cystic lymphangioma which inciden-tally detected during a routine gynecological examination.

    UV-stable paper coated with APTES-modified P25 TiO2 nanoparticles

In order to inhibit the photocatalytic degradation of organic material supports induced by small titania (TiO2) nanoparticles, highly photocatalytically active, commercially available P25-TiO2 nanoparticles were first modified with a thin layer of (3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTES), which were then deposited and fixed onto the surface of paper samples via a simple, dip-coating process in water at room temperature. The resultant APTES-modified P25 TiO2 nanoparticle-coated paper samples exhibit much greater stability to UV-illumination than uncoated blank reference paper. Very little, or no, photo-degradation in terms of brightness and whiteness, respectively, of the P25-TiO2-nanoparticle-treated paper is observed. There are many other potential applications for this Green Chemistry approach to protect cellulosic fibres from UV-bleaching in sunlight and to protect their whiteness and maintain their brightness

Torbiel mezotelialna więzadła obłego to rzadka przyczyna przepukliny pachwinowej.
