"Safe Routes to School is a collaborative effort involving multiple organizations, and has been integral in increasing partnerships between public health and school state-level officials as evidenced by the statewide case studies from California, Massachusetts, Mississippi and Oklahoma. The statewide case studies provided numerous examples of state level collaboration among officials that are resulting in important policy changes. Safe Routes to School has brought together Departments of Education and Public Health on Task Forces, Advisory Committees, Project Selection Committees and Project Development Committees. Working together on advancing SRTS on these committees has resulted in increased communications and understanding between the agencies, relationship building, opening communication channels and increased opportunities to spread a unified message about SRTS to make sure it is a successful program."Text document in PDF format.Cover title.Title from PDF title page (viewed on April 2, 2009)."Prepared by the Safe Routes to School National Partnership for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention by Brooke Driesse.""December 2008."Mode of access: World Wide Web.Includes bibliographical references

The thesis is about a modular low budget prototype hardware-in-the-loop system for testing diesel heaters. A modular plant model of the heater has been developed using model-based development in Simulink. The model has been derived mathematically from tests and empirical investigations. C-code was generated from the plant model and implemented in a microcontroller. The microcontroller simulates the model and sends the data values to different sensor emulators so that the electrical control unit is tricked into thinking it is connected to a real heater.   The modularity is implemented in both software and hardware of the HILsystem. The plant model is modular by using different subsystems for the different parts of the heater. The hardware was also designed to be modular, in the form of ”fake” sensors that can be changed and also in the form of the different loads that represent the actuators, such as fan, in the heater. These loads can be changed is size depending on what is needed.   An important aspect was to have the HIL-rig as low budget as possible. The tests show that the HIL-rig is suffering from bad resolution on the temperature during higher temperatures. This is due to the fact that the digital potentiometer used had a fairly low resolution. This performance could be improved using potentiometers with a higher resolution, but it would increase the price.

This report is the result of a group project that has been a part of a bachelor thesis in mechatronics. The task was to build a robot and was given by the advertising agency FamiljenPangea, who stated that the purpose of the robot was to be on stage with the famous artist Robyn during her concerts. The robot’s features should contribute to the show in one way or another, and its design should preferably be appealing to Robyn. The project’s time frame was 8 weeks, and the budget was 1 500 Swedish kronor. Using an agile way of working, there was a focus on having meetings frequently rather than planning everything in detail. During the initial phase, a number of required features were defined and divided into different modules, such as design, motor control, radio control, LED matrix, IR remote control and beat sensor. As the group members had different skills in different areas, each member got their own field of responsibility. The final product measures 90 cm in height and has a cylindrical shape with a diameter of 60 cm at its widest part. It has a face that is made of an LED matrix that can change between three different states – a face, a strobe light effect and a scrolling text. The robot’s movement is radio controlled. The LED matrix states and some arm movement controlled using an infra-red remote control. As the robot is moving forward, its arms will move to make it look a bit more human. The robot also has a heart made of red LED:s that is pulsing to the beat of the music. The final product fulfilled all the required and one of the desired features

This report studies the development of a usable web application for gifts with an engaging buying process, where the customer is given suggestions on gifts based on his preferences. The demand was examined and confirmed by studies which formed the basis for the development of the application. The work was done with the project methodology Scrum, which is presented and evaluated. The report presents and discusses the technical solutions chosen for the implementation of the web application.Design choices have been made and are discussed, with the main objective to create ausable web application with an engaging buying process. Usability and commitment hasbeen created through a buying process in which the products are presented one at a time. Finally, the report argues that Presentshoppen is to some extent usable and with an engaging buying process, but it is difficult to prove this before any launch.

Mice lacking ALK activity have previously been reported to exhibit subtle behavioral phenotypes. In this study of ALK of loss of function mice we present data supporting a role for ALK in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in male mice. We observed lower level of serum testosterone at P40 in ALK knock-out males, accompanied by mild disorganization of seminiferous tubules exhibiting decreased numbers of GATA4 expressing cells. These observations highlight a role for ALK in testis function and are further supported by experiments in which chemical inhibition of ALK activity with the ALK TKI crizotinib was employed. Oral administration of crizotinib resulted in a decrease of serum testosterone levels in adult wild type male mice, which reverted to normal levels after cessation of treatment. Analysis of GnRH expression in neurons of the hypothalamus revealed a significant decrease in the number of GnRH positive neurons in ALK knock-out mice at P40 when compared with control littermates. Thus, ALK appears to be involved in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism by regulating the timing of pubertal onset and testis function at the upper levels of the hypothalamic-pituitary gonadal axis
