The paper addresses the issue of imagology of the territory covered by the countries located on the Balkans and in the Orient. It is based on an overview of prejudices and perceptions concerning the same territory held by a large number of authors throughout the centuries. Moreover, it elaborates on the causes of the origins both of hetero-perceptions and auto-perceptions. It presents the thus far predominant imaginarium throughout the Republic of Croatia, striving simultaneously to find ways to provide a new imaginarium. In addition, it partly tackles also the questioning of truthfulness or authenticity of perceptions and their creation, whilst taking into account the methodology –it is actually a research rather than focusing on the provision of judgements on the truthfulness. The paper also considers different attitudes assumed by various authors on the imaginarium originating on the territories located on the Balkans and inthe Orient or the predominant attitudes assumed on other territories about the previously mentioned territories. Furthermore, the paper studies the ways in which different identities are created, such as the identity of the Balkans and the Orient and the ways in which their development functions until they reach a point of inclusion of an artificially created identity into a generally accepted reality

OBJECTIVE: Odorous compounds produced at the biosolids composting plant in Bariloche (NW Patagonia) attract a variety of insects, mainly belonging to the order Diptera. In order to characterize these flies, collected specimens were taxonomically identified, their community characteristics were described and their sanitary and synanthropic importance and autochthonous or introduced character were determined. METHODS: Sampling was performed from October 1999 until March 2000. Adults were collected using an entomological net, and larvae and puparia were obtained from the composting material and incubated to obtain adults. Richness, abundance and sex ratio were calculated. RESULTS: A total of 9 taxa of Diptera were identified: Sarconesia chlorogaster, Phaenicia sericata, Calliphora vicina, Cochliomya macellaria, Ophyra sp, Muscina stabulans, Musca domestica, Sarcophaga sp and Fannia sp. Specimens of Anthomyiidae, Acaliptratae and one larva of Eristalis tenax were also found. Ophyra sp. was the most abundant taxa. All the captured Diptera belonged to introduced taxa. Most of them are considered to be eusynanthropic and/or hemisynanthropic and have sanitary importance as they may cause myiasis and pseudomyiasis. The high number of females registered and the finding of immature stages indicated that flies can develop their complete life cycle on biosolid composting windrows. CONCLUSIONS: The characterization of flies obtained in this study may be useful for defining locations of urban or semi-urban composting facilities. It also highlights the importance of sanitary precautions at such plants.OBJETIVO: Los compuestos odoríferos producidos en la Planta de Compostaje de Biosólidos de Bariloche (NO Patagonia) atraen diferentes insectos, principalmente moscas (Orden Diptera).

Disability; risk of disability and altered work capacity - an unacceptable prerequisite for insurance against accident at work and occupational disease

Najjednostavnije ćemo to učiniti inverzijom definicijskih i preuzetih odredaba u Zakonu o mirovinskom i invalidskom osiguranju i u Zakonu o zdravstvenom osiguranju.According to Croatian legislation disability, risk of disability and altered work capacity are prerequisites for recognition of job injuries, occupational diseases, and, consequently, of the worker\u27s special rights. That is also valid for all areas of insurance. The legislation, if applied, would make it impossible for a great number of insured workers to realize their particular rights based on work related health damage, especially in the field of health insurance and reinsurance of health care costs. Health insurance boards, along with insurance companies, manage by evading the condition of disability, risk of disability and altered work capacity. This has been proved on a sample of 63 cases of job injuries and one occupational disease registered in the Occupational safety unit of the Clinical Hospital in Split from May 1994 to May 1995. In all cases the medical doctor of choice, the authorized health insurance board and the authorized insurance company enabled the insured (workers injured at work or having occupational disease, the employer) to make use of their specific insurance rights without waiting for the fulfillment of the prescribed condition of disability, risk of disability and altered work capacity. The authors consider such behaviour to be inadmissible in a state based on the rule of law. If the condition of disability, risk of disability and altered work capacity is unsuitable, as indeed it is, a solution should be sought for in changing the regulations. The simplest way of doing it is to invert the defining and taking over decrees in the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance and the Law on Health Insurance

A total of 139 oases of occupational asbestosis were registered in companies working with asbestos in Croatia between the years 1985 and 1994. In the period from 1992 to 1994 thirty-five diseased workers sued in court for compensation of damage. In all suits and at all levels, the employer was judged to be responsible for the damage. Questioning the exclusiveness of responsibility, or at least co-responsibility of the other parties involved in the structure of occupational use of asbestos, the authors ascertained, in all the 35 cases of occupational asbestosis from the sample, that the full responsibility lay with the third party - the State - as representing the unity of the legal, executive and judicious powers
