Chiral phase transition in an extended linear sigma model: initial results
We investigate the scalar meson mass dependence on the chiral phase
transition in the framework of an SU(3), (axial)vector meson extended linear
sigma model with additional constituent quarks and Polyakov loops. We determine
the parameters of the Lagrangian at zero temperature in a hybrid approach,
where we treat the mesons at tree-level, while the constituent quarks at 1-loop
level. We assume two nonzero scalar condensates and together with the
Polyakov-loop variables we determine their temperature dependence according to
the 1-loop level field equations.Comment: Presented at the Workshop on Unquenched Hadron Spectroscopy:

ZnO layers deposited by Atomic Layer Deposition
The structure of 40 nm thick epitaxial ZnO layers grown on single crystalline
sapphire and GaN substrates by atomic layer deposition has been studied using transmission
electron microscopy. The growth is carried out between 150°C and 300°C without any buffer
layer using di-ethyl zinc and water precursors. The ZnO layer on sapphire is found to be
polycrystalline, which is probably due to the large misfit (~15 %) and the relatively low
deposition temperature. However, the small misfit (~1.8 %) between the ZnO layer that is
deposited on GaN at 300°C resulted in a high quality single crystalline layer
Térbe zárt kert = Enclosed garden
The archetype of the enclosed garden is the medieval hortus conclusus, which make the perfect type from the former types. The enclosed gardens of nowadays have developed from the hortus conclusus, which behave like a prism. Peter Zumthor's Serpentine Gallery Pavilion is the best example for the contemporary hortus conclusus. The purpose of our study to make a typological collection about contemporary enclosed gardens. The base of the typology is the borderline of the garden, the wall of the garden. We based the study of borderline to Dom Hans van der Laan's architectural theory and his monastery building in Vaals. We analyze the typology by six contemporary enclosed gardens from the simple wall to the building volume through the volumes of the wall. The openings of the walls can be the next way of our analysis.A bezárt kertek kiérlelt archetípusa a hortus conclusus, a középkori kolostorudvarok kertjei. A hortus conclusus, mint egy prizma összegyűjti az összes megelőző bezárt kert változatot, tökéletes típust hoz létre, majd belőle fejlődnek tovább napjaink bezárt kertjeinek végtelen variációi. A hortus conclusus kortárs beteljesülése Peter Zumthor Serpentine Gallery pavilonja. A kutatásunk célja a kortárs kertek tipológiai gyűjteményének elkészítése, melynek alapja a kert határa, a kertet határoló fal vizsgálata.
Effect of inulin supplementation and age on growth performance and digestive physiological parameters in weaned rabbits
[EN] Three diets were formulated, a control diet (C, 40.7% NDF, 15.1% CP), the same diet but medicated (M, 500 mg/kg oxytetracycline and 50 mg/kg thiamulin), and a third diet obtained substituting 4% of barley with inulin (Frutafi t) in C diet (I). Pannon White does and their litters were randomly allocated into three groups (8/group) at 21 d of lactation and diets offered to the does and kids from 21 d of lactation onwards. After weaning (28 d), growing rabbits (30 cages/ treatment, 2 rabbits/cage) were fed the same diet as before weaning. At 28, 35 and 42 d of age, 6 healthy animals from each group (1 animal/cage) were slaughtered. Live body weight, feed intake and feed conversion ratio increased and growth rate decreased with age (P<0.001). Feed intake decreased in rabbits fed I diet compared to those fed M diet (by 11%, P<0.05), with those fed C diet showing an intermediate value. Growth rate from 28 to 35 d of age was not affected by diets, but decreased from 36 to 42 d in rabbits fed I diet compared to those fed C and M diets (P<0.05), with no effect on feed conversion ratio. Inulin did not affect mortality, which was low (¿ 3.3%), but increased morbidity compared to C and M diets (11.7 vs. 2.5%, P<0.05). Diets did not affect caecal weight, pH, cellulase and pectinase activity or microbial counts. Inulin diet decreased caecal xylanase activity (P<0.05) compared to C and M diets, reduced propionic and butyric acid and increased acetic acid concentration compared to M diet, whereas C diet showed intermediate values. Caecal pH and counts of E. coli and total aerobic bacteria increased and pectinase activity decreased (P<0.05) at 35 d of age (compared to 28 and 42 d of age). The number of the strictly anaerobic bacteria decreased and cellulase and xylanase activity increased (P<0.05) at 42 d of age compared to 28 and 35 d. Propionic acid concentration decreased with age from 28 to 42 d (P<0.05) but VFA concentration and acetic and butyric acids proportions did not change. In conclusion, the inclusion of 4% of inulin in the diet of weanling rabbits showed no positive effect. The research was funded by the OTKA (project No. T046999) and the TéT foundation (project No. FR27/2007).The authors are grateful to Dr. L. Applicability Results of a Nonlinear Model-Based Robust Blood Glucose Control Algorithm
INTRODUCTION: Generating optimal control algorithms for an artificial pancreas is an intensively researched problem. The available models are all nonlinear and rather complex. Model predictive control or run-to-run-based methodologies have proven to be efficient solutions for individualized treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). However, the controller has to ensure safety and stability under all circumstances. Robust control methods seek to provide this safety and guarantee to handle even the worst-case situations and, hence, to generalize and complement results obtained by individualized control algorithms. METHODS: Modern robust (e.g., H(inf)) control is a linear model-based methodology that we have combined with the nonlinear model-based linear parameter varying technique. The control algorithm was designed on the high-complexity modified nonlinear glucose–insulin model of Sorensen, and it was compared step-by- step with linear model-based H(inf) control results published in the literature. The applicability of the developed algorithm was tested first on a control cohort of 10 healthy persons’ oral glucose tolerance test results and then on a large meal absorption profile adapted from the literature. In the latter case, two preliminary virtual patients were generated based on 1–1 week real continuous glucose monitor measurements. RESULTS: We have found that the algorithm avoids hypoglycemia (not caused by physical activity or stress) independently from the considered absorption profiles. CONCLUSION: Use of hard constraints proved their efficiency in fitting blood glucose level within a defined interval. However, in the future, more data of different T1DM patients will be collected and tested, including dynamic absorption model and in silico tests on validated simulators
Dynamics of Haumea’s dust ring
The particle dynamics of the recently observed ring around dwarf planet Haumea is numerically
investigated. The point mass gravitational force, a second degree and order gravity field, and
the solar radiation pressure as the main perturbations are considered. The quasi-stationary
state of the ring varies for different micron-sized grains and depends also on the spin–orbit
resonances between the rotation rate of the main body and the orbital period of the dust
particles. The simulations confirm the variable radial width of the ring observed during the
transit ingress and egress. Results show that the micron-sized grains, initially on circular orbits,
become eccentric and form an apse-aligned ring at the observed radial distance near to the
3:1 spin–orbit resonance. It is also demonstrated that this coincidence is only apparent and
independent of 3:1 resonance
