Regulierung des Kleinen Fruchtwicklers im ökologischen Obstbau

Der Kleine Fruchtwickler Grapholita lobarzewskii Rag. hat sich zu einem wichtigen Schädling in der Bodenseeregion entwickelt. Um den betroffenen Betriebe Perspektiven aufzuzeigen, sollte untersucht werden, ob von den für den Öko-Obstbau zugelassenen potentiell gegen Wicklerarten wirksamen Insektiziden ein Effekt zu erwarten ist. Im Hinblick auf die aktuelle Situation ohne zugelassene Regulierungsmethode waren hier auch relativ geringe Wirkungsgrade von Interesse. Auf der Basis der hier erzielten Ergebnisse kann davon ausgegangen werden, daß mit Aufwandmengen an Quassiaextrakt von ungefähr 3 g/ha und mKh Quassin und einer Applikation im Normalfall Wirkungsgrade bis zu 60 % erzielt werden können. Eine Zugabe von Trifolio-T/S forte als Formulierungshilfe und Netzmittel wäre zu empfehlen. Die Kosten für diese Behandlung liegen momentan bei ca. 140 € pro ha, sind also relativ hoch. Obwohl keine Erklärung für die Ergebnisse gefunden werden konnte, zeigte eine Variante mit einer einzigen Behandlung mit XenTari (Bacillus thuringiensis) kurz vor Eiablage ebenfalls in einigen Versuchen eine gewisse Wirkung. Die Kosten belaufen sich ungefähr auf 35 € pro ha, so daß dies für die Praxis sehr attraktiv wäre. Kombinationen aus Quassia und XenTari sowie von XenTari und NeemAzal-T/S waren von den Kosten und Wirkungsgrad her unattraktiv. Eine Regulierung des Kleinen Fruchtwicklers ist also mit den im Öko-Obstbau zur Verfügung stehenden Präparaten nur in begrenztem Umfang möglich. Die erzielten Wirkungsgrade würden jedoch für eine gewisse Reduktion der Population ausreichen. Hier bietet sich eine Kombination mit der Verwirrungstechnik, für die eine Zulassung in Deutschland jetzt angestrebt wird, geradezu an. Im ersten Jahr ist die Verwirrungstechnik bei höherem Ausgangsbefall nicht vollständig wirksam. Je nach Ausgangsbefall, Befallssituation (Waldränder!) und Flugverlauf des Kleinen Fruchtwicklers war eine Reduktion des Befalls auf die Toleranzschwelle von 1 % durch mehrjährige Anwendung der Verwirrungstechnik möglich oder auch nicht

Zu diesem Zweck werden jene Stellen analysiert, die ein genaues Bild der Hauptcharaktere Kinbote und Shade zeichnen. Bezüge zu Housman, Gide, Proust und Goethe heben Kinbotes Homosexualität sowie seine pädophile Neigung hervor. Darüber hinaus wird seine Todessehnsucht durch Hinweise auf Donne und Shakespeare verdeutlicht. Hinweise auf Poe, Pope und Swift unterstreichen Kinbotes geistige Verwirrtheit. Historic images are in demand—especially those available for discovery online. At the same time, digitizing large photograph collections can be daunting, particularly when a project involves balancing access and preservation with tight budgets, limited staff, and fragile or deteriorating objects. Outside collaborators can help leverage available resources and increase the effectiveness and reach of the project but identifying and recruiting partners and keeping diverse stakeholders on the same page can be challenging. Panelists will discuss collaborating across disciplines on two large digitization projects, the Religious News Service photographs, 1945-1982 (about 60,000 prints and negatives) and the Los Angeles Department of Public Works photographic materials (about 700,000 prints, negatives, and slides)

Measuring the impact of learning at the workplace on organisational performance

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to explore the importance of workplace learning in the context of performance measurement on an organisational level. It shows how workplace learning analytics can be grounded on professional identity transformation theory and integrated into performance measurement approaches to understand its organisation-wide impact. Design/methodology/approach: In a conceptual approach, a framework to measure the organisation-wide impact of workplace learning interventions has been developed. As a basis for the description of the framework, related research on relevant concepts in the field of performance measurement approaches, workplace learning, professional identity transformation, workplace and social learning analytics are discussed. A case study in a European Public Employment Service is presented. The framework is validated by qualitative evaluation data from three case studies. Finally, theoretical as well as practical implications are discussed. Findings: Professional identity transformation theory provides a suitable theoretical framework to gain new insights into various dimensions of workplace learning. Workplace learning analytics can reasonably be combined with classical performance management approaches to demonstrate its organisation-wide impact. A holistic and streamlined framework is perceived as beneficial by practitioners from several European Public Employment Services. Research limitations/implications: Empirical data originates from three case studies in the non-profit sector only. The presented framework needs to be further evaluated in different organisations and settings. Practical implications: The presented framework enables non-profit organisations to integrate workplace learning analytics in their organisation-wide performance measurement, which raises awareness for the importance of social learning at the workplace. Originality/value: The paper enriches the scarce research base about workplace learning analytics and its potential links to organisation-wide performance measurement approaches. In contrast to most previous literature, a thorough conceptualisation of workplace learning as a process of professional identity transformation is used

Factor H-Related Protein 5 Interacts with Pentraxin 3 and the Extracellular Matrix and Modulates Complement Activation.

The physiological roles of the factor H (FH)-related proteins are controversial and poorly understood. Based on genetic studies, FH-related protein 5 (CFHR5) is implicated in glomerular diseases, such as atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome, dense deposit disease, and CFHR5 nephropathy. CFHR5 was also identified in glomerular immune deposits at the protein level. For CFHR5, weak complement regulatory activity and competition for C3b binding with the plasma complement inhibitor FH have been reported, but its function remains elusive. In this study, we identify pentraxin 3 (PTX3) as a novel ligand of CFHR5. Binding of native CFHR5 to PTX3 was detected in human plasma and the interaction was characterized using recombinant proteins. The binding of PTX3 to CFHR5 is of approximately 2-fold higher affinity compared with that of FH. CFHR5 dose-dependently inhibited FH binding to PTX3 and also to the monomeric, denatured form of the short pentraxin C-reactive protein. Binding of PTX3 to CFHR5 resulted in increased C1q binding. Additionally, CFHR5 bound to extracellular matrix in vitro in a dose-dependent manner and competed with FH for binding. Altogether, CFHR5 reduced FH binding and its cofactor activity on pentraxins and the extracellular matrix, while at the same time allowed for enhanced C1q binding. Furthermore, CFHR5 allowed formation of the alternative pathway C3 convertase and supported complement activation. Thus, CFHR5 may locally enhance complement activation via interference with the complement-inhibiting function of FH, by enhancement of C1q binding, and by activating complement, thereby contributing to glomerular disease

Control of the apple sawfly (Hoplocampa testudinea Klug) with extracts from Quassia amara L.: Quality and combination

In the last years the contro I 01 the apple sawfly Hoplocampa testudinea Klug was not efficient in organic Iruit growing. This was due to quality problems 01 the "Quassia wood" used lor the treatments. First orientating criteria based on one 01 the active ingredients, Quassin, were established lor the quality 01 "Quassia" preparations. A lield test on apple sawfly showed, that the quantity 01 Quassin per ha required lor good sawfly control is about 12-18 9 Quassin. In the nex! years, more active ingredients (Le. Neoquassin) have to be included in the quality criteria and evaluated by biotests. Only this way, reliable recommendations can be given to the growers. NeemAzal-T/S was effective only against the secondary inlestation. Thus, it can be recommended only in situations with low inlestation. The combination with Quassia (12 9 Quassin/ ha) did not give better results than Quassia alone. Antileedant effects have to be considered and may provocate antagonistic effects
