ICT education and access in public libraries: Library Development Program

During last years a rapid growth in access to information and communication technologies could be observed in Poland as well as in other European countries. At the same time many investigations show that access to the new technologies, knowledge about available services and IT skills are still not developed well enough. It's noticeable especially in poor and rural areas. Local public libraries in such areas are usually the only places providing ICT support for communities

Archaeological research as a benefit for the local community : southern Jordan in the preliminary socioarchaeological study

Starting an archaeological research is not only the beginning of gathering new scientific data for academic analysis. The role of a scientist is not only to build the ‘tower of knowledge,’ but also to make it beneficial to people. Therefore, archaeological projects should also vastly contribute to the promotion of the heritage of the region and its modern value and to the development of tourism, education and local community activities. Understanding the local community and its view on the historical heritage, as well as on archaeological research seems to be a very important aspect of this type of activity. It will not only allow to identify potential risks and create a plan of regular research, excavations, as well as future maintenance. As a benefit of the sociological study, the future revitalization of the area will occur. This outcome may be an important extension of theoretical and practical principles of global heritage protection and may become a standard solution based on the belief that cultural heritage can be a factor of local community development and prosperity

Stictocephala bisonia Kopp et Yonke, 1977 (Hemiptera: Cicadomorpha, Membracidae) in Poland

The aim of this paper is to provide new data on a distribution of alien and invasive species Stictocephala bisonia Kopp et Yonke, 1977 in Poland. This species has rapidly spread across Europe and other parts of the world in the last 100 years and has colonized new territories. S. bisonia belongs to the group of leafhopper species of Nearctic origin

Amorphous AlN films grown by ALD from trimethylaluminum and monomethylhydrazine

The great interest in aluminium nitride thin films has been attributed to their excellent dielectric, thermal and mechanical properties. Here we present the results of amorphous AlN films obtained by atomic layer deposition. We used trimethylaluminum and monomethylhydrazine as the precursors at a deposition temperature of 375-475 °C. The structural and mechanical properties and chemical composition of the synthesized films were investigated in detail by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, electron and probe microscopy and nanoindentation. The obtained films were compact and continuous, exhibiting amorphous nature with homogeneous in-depth composition, at an oxygen content of as low as 4 at%. The mechanical properties were comparable to those of AlN films produced by other techniques

Carriage of oversize loads in special transport vehicles

Zasadniczym celem autorów publikacji jest przeprowadzenie analizy i dokonanie oceny podejścia do zarządzania przewozami ładunków wielkogabarytowych w pojazdach nienormatywnych. Analizy dokonano na przykładzie przewozów ponadgabarytowych w Polsce na tle barier i stymulatorów przewozu ładunków ponadnormatywnych występujących w Unii Europejskiej. Tok wywodów ma także na celu zweryfikowanie hipotezy badawczej: „Optymalizacja zarządzania przewozami ładunków wielkogabarytowych w pojazdach nienormatywnych jest możliwa dzięki kompleksowej platformie rejestracji przejazdów, aplikowania o pozwolenie na przejazd, wyznaczania trasy przejazdu, monitorowania przewoźników, a także w drodze permanentnej poprawy komunikacji pomiędzy jednostkami administracji publicznej”. W publikacji: zdefiniowano ładunki wielkogabarytowe i pojazdy nienormatywne oraz dokonano ich uproszczonej klasyfikacji; zaprezentowano miejsce przewozów wielkogabarytowych w transporcie oraz wskazano wymagania związane z poruszaniem się pojazdów nienormatywnych; scharakteryzowano podejście do zarządzania przewozami ładunków wielkogabarytowych w pojazdach nienormatywnych w Polsce; zdiagnozowano bariery oraz stymulatory rozwoju rynku przewozów ponadgabarytowych; zaproponowano modyfikacje w zakresie przewozu ładunków wielkogabarytowych w pojazdach nienormatywnych w Polsce.The main goal of the authors of this publication is to analyse and evaluate the approach to the management of oversize loads in special transport vehicles. The analysis was made with regard to heavy and oversized transportation in Poland against the background of barriers and stimulants for heavy and oversized transportation in the European Union. The reasoning of the arguments is also to verify the research hypothesis: "Optimization of the management of oversize loads in special transport vehicles is possible thanks to a comprehensive platform for registering such shipments, applying for a permission to operate on roads, determining the route, monitoring carriers, as well as through permanent improvement of communication between public administration units". In this publication: oversize loads and special transport vehicles were defined and roughly classified; the place of heavy and oversized transportation was presented and requirements related to the movement of special transport vehicles were indicated; the approach to managing oversize loads in special transport vehicles in Poland was characterized; barriers and stimulants for the development of heavy and oversized transportation were diagnosed; as for heavy and oversized transportation in special transport vehicles in Poland, modifications were proposed
