Connectivity-guaranteed and obstacle-adaptive deployment schemes for mobile sensor networks
Mobile sensors can relocate and self-deploy into a network. While focusing on the problems of coverage, existing deployment schemes largely over-simplify the conditions for network connectivity: they either assume that the communication range is large enough for sensors in geometric neighborhoods to obtain location information through local communication, or they assume a dense network that remains connected. In addition, an obstacle-free field or full knowledge of the field layout is often assumed. We present new schemes that are not governed by these assumptions, and thus adapt to a wider range of application scenarios. The schemes are designed to maximize sensing coverage and also guarantee connectivity for a network with arbitrary sensor communication/sensing ranges or node densities, at the cost of a small moving distance. The schemes do not need any knowledge of the field layout, which can be irregular and have obstacles/holes of arbitrary shape. Our first scheme is an enhanced form of the traditional virtual-force-based method, which we term the Connectivity-Preserved Virtual Force (CPVF) scheme. We show that the localized communication, which is the very reason for its simplicity, results in poor coverage in certain cases. We then describe a Floor-based scheme which overcomes the difficulties of CPVF and, as a result, significantly outperforms it and other state-of-the-art approaches. Throughout the paper our conclusions are corroborated by the results from extensive simulations
An approach is proposed to construct the optimal trajectories of interplanetary transfers with combination of the high trust and low trust. It is based on using the modified method of carrying trajectory to optimize the heliocentric part of trajectory. On an example of transfer Earth – Mars with duration of 180 astronomical days, a comparative analysis is carried out for trajectories and parameters of spacecraft, which are optimal, when the classic and modified methods of carrying trajectory are using
Exploiting Semantic Proximity in Peer-to-Peer Content Searching
A lot of recent work has dealt with improving performance of content searching in peer-to-peer file sharing systems. In this paper we attack this problem by modifying the overlay topology describing the peer relations in the system. More precisely, we create a semantic overlay, linking nodes that are "semantically close", by which we mean that they are interested in similar documents. This semantic overlay provides the primary search mechanism, while the initial peer-to-peer system provides the fail-over search mechanism. We focus on implicit approaches for discovering semantic proximity. We evaluate and compare three candidate methods, and review open questions
Spin dynamics and disorder effects in the S=1/2 kagome Heisenberg spin liquid phase of kapellasite
We report Cl NMR, ESR, SR and specific heat measurements on the
frustrated kagom\'e magnet kapellasite,
CuZn(OH)Cl, where a gapless spin liquid phase is
stabilized by a set of competing exchange interactions. Our measurements
confirm the ferromagnetic character of the nearest-neighbour exchange
interaction and give an energy scale for the competing interactions K. The study of the temperature-dependent ESR lineshift reveals a
moderate symmetric exchange anisotropy term , with %. These
findings validate a posteriori the use of the Heisenberg
model to describe the magnetic properties of kapellasite [Bernu et al., Phys.
Rev. B 87, 155107 (2013)]. We further confirm that the main deviation from this
model is the severe random depletion of the magnetic kagom\'e lattice by 27%,
due to Cu/Zn site mixing, and specifically address the effect of this disorder
by Cl NMR, performed on an oriented polycrystalline sample.
Surprisingly, while being very sensitive to local structural deformations, our
NMR measurements demonstrate that the system remains homogeneous with a unique
spin susceptibility at high temperature, despite a variety of magnetic
environments. Unconventional spin dynamics is further revealed by NMR and
SR in the low-, correlated, spin liquid regime, where a broad
distribution of spin-lattice relaxation times is observed. We ascribe this to
the presence of local low-energy modes.Comment: 15 pages, 11 figures. To appear in Phys. Rev.
