Meta-tools for software language engineering : a flexible collaborative modeling language for efficient telecommunications service design
International audienceThe increasingly competitive environment pressures telecommunications service providers to reduce their concept-to-market time. This time is influenced by a multitude of factors. For the benefit of telecom service designers, this paper focuses on increasing the degree of automation, offering team collaboration capabilities and bridging heterogeneous technologies. To address these factors, we propose a model-based meta-tool approach, which rapidly and iteratively generates particular tools for software languages. Each language is specific to one of the viewpoints involved in the definition of a service, as identified in the Intelligent Network Conceptual Model. A flexible language prototype for service designers, that blends a higher degree of formality with creative freedom, has already been implemented. The integration of first collaboration capabilities, defined and tooled, into this language, by including the rationale behind the designers' decisions, is currently being pursued. A second language prototype, for network designers, together with syntactic and semantic (partial) automatic interoperability between these two viewpoints, are also proposed
A transversal alignment between measurements and enterprise architecture for early verification of telecom service design
International audienceEarly verification of Telecom Services (TS) at the design time helps an enterprise to avoid wasting of implementation cost and time. Simulation provides the designer with helpful feedbacks on TS design leaving the implementation and installation costs behind. Our objective in this paper is to present our approach to obtain valuable feedbacks from network simulators and relate them to the information from high abstract scenario of a TS. Relying on Model Driven Engineering discipline and Enterprise Architecture standard, we propose to associate measurement elements with the design ones of different abstraction levels. We implement a model transformation to generate automatically the configurations for NS-3 simulator as a test-bed for our case studies. We illustrate our approach with a video conference example, presenting the different abstract levels and their relationship with measurements
An approach for constructing a domain definition metamodel with ATL
International audiencePresent day Telecommunications competitive market requires a rapid definition process of new services. To ensure this, we propose to replace the current paper-based process with a computer-aided one. Central to this later process is an information model that captures domain specific knowledge. We approach its construction by defining model querying and model transformation rules in ATL over existing network abstraction layers. We also report on the way we used ATL to define these rules and the benefits of doing so, and pinpoint issues that may be addressed in future ATL releases
Labelled network capture generation for anomaly detection
In the race to simplify man-machine interactions and maintenance processes, hardware is increasingly interconnected. With more connected devices than ever, in our homes and workplaces, the attack surface is increasing tremendously. To detect this growing flow of cyber-attacks, machine learning based intrusion detection systems are being deployed at an unprecedented pace. In turn, these require a constant feed of data to learn and differentiate normal traffic from abnormal traffic. Unfortunately, there is a lack of learning datasets available. In this paper, we present a software platform generating fully labelled datasets for data analysis and anomaly detection
The co-design of scenarios for a didactic-based E-learning system viewed as an adaptive virtual document
The design and engineering of E-learning systems must be considered as a transdisciplinary problem requiring the integration of different scientific approaches. The design process of E-learning systems needs to consider several theories, models and artifacts – the e-learning system. We claim it is essential to ensure the traceability and the interpretation of phenomena related to the use of artifacts in studying precisely the relationships between theories, models and artifacts. Consequently, we develop a co-design methodology to deal with these goals. The main contribution of this paper is to describe a methodological approach enabling the co-design of problem-based learning scenarios in sciences which are based on teacher real practices acquired by means of the theory in didactic anthropology of knowledge and to show why we can formalize them in a hierarchical task model to design an adaptive E-learning system
Towards validation of the Internet Census 2012
The reliability of the ``Internet Census 2012'' (IC), an anonymously published scan of the entire IPv4 address space, is not a priori clear. As a step towards validation of this dataset, we compare it to logged reference data on a /16 network, and present an approach to systematically handle uncertainties in timestamps in the IC and reference data. We find evidence the scan indeed took place, and a 93\% match with the /16 reference data

IST CANDLE : approaches and tools designed, lessons learned and experienced
International audienceThis paper presents the lessons learned and experienced with the IST Candle project. This EU-funded research programme was launched within the Information Society Technologies (IST) programme and our team at ENST Bretagne played a major role for the design and development of innovative approaches for computer enhanced learning and instrumented them through tools and guidelines. This paper relates our main contributions and the experience gained during these three years
