Gospodarcze i społeczne relacje współczesnego świata
Publikacja recenzowana / Peer-reviewed publicationGospodarcze i społeczne relacje współczesnego świata to przede wszystkim dynamiczny rozwój handlu międzynarodowego, turystyki międzynarodowej, internacjonalizacja działalności gospodarczej, postępujący proces integracji gospodarczej w różnych regionach świata, a także proces globalizacji przedsiębiorstw i instytucji. W trakcie obrad VII Międzynarodowej Konferencji Naukowej w Krakowie zorganizowanej przez Krakowską Szkołę Wyższą im. Andrzeja Frycza Modrzewskiego w dniach 27-29 maja 2007 roku w sekcji „Handel międzynarodowy i gospodarka światowa” przedstawiono kilkadziesiąt referatów, posterów i głosów w dyskusji. W niniejszej publikacji zamieszczono szesnaście tekstów dopuszczonych do druku przez Radę Naukową Konferencji i recenzenta prof. dr hab. Stanisława Wydymusa z Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego w Krakowie, które można podzielić na trzy grupy zagadnień: podstawowe parametry ekonomiczne determinujące handel międzynarodowy; znaczenie i rodzaje zagranicznych inwestycji bezpośrednich; społeczne i kulturowe problemy integracji gospodarczej i handlu
Zrównoważony rozwój, systemy informacyjne i zarządzanie bezpieczeństwem w perspektywie długoterminowej przedsiębiorstw
Z wprowadzenia: "Pojęcie zrównoważonego rozwoju jest szeroko opisywane w literaturze
przedmiotu, często również kojarzone z pojęciem sustainability. Dotyczy
harmonijnego rozwoju organizacji, w tym także biznesowych, które
w swych założeniach są nastawione na równoczesną realizacje celów
ekonomicznych, społecznych i ekologicznych. Aspekty społeczne będą
się przejawiać m.in. w realizacji założeń CSR. Zrównoważenie może być
zakłócane występowaniem różnego rodzaju zagrożeń, także wynikających
ze skrajnej turbulencji otoczenia. Skutki takich zakłóceń (w tym
w ujęciu ekologicznym) mogą wywoływać stany kryzysowe w przedsiębiorstwach.
Oczekiwane są zatem zachowania o charakterze rezylientnym
(o różnym stopniu odporności i zdolności dostosowawczych wobec
zmiennych warunków), pozwalającym na przezwyciężenie sytuacji kryzysowych.
Mając na uwadze realizację założeń rozwoju zrównoważonego,
podkreślić należy rolę polityki informacyjnej przedsiębiorstw odnośnie
do ochrony środowiska naturalnego, a także znaczenie systemów
zarządzania środowiskowego czy funkcjonowania łańcuchów dostaw.
Zróżnicowanie zagrożeń – w tym występowanie tych o charakterze pandemicznym
– powoduje konieczność właściwego ukierunkowania działań
społecznie odpowiedzialnych. W ramach szeroko pojętej koncepcji
zrównoważonego rozwoju dokonano między innymi wstępnej analizy
wykonalności konkretnego, proekologicznego i innowacyjnego projektu hydrologicznego, umożliwiającego wytwarzanie energii elektrycznej. Powyższe
tematy zostały podjęte w części pierwszej monografii pod tytułem:
Zarządzanie zrównoważonym rozwojem organizacji. Strategie proekologiczne
przedsiębiorstw.
Część druga monografii nosi tytuł: Systemy informacyjne i zarządzanie
bezpieczeństwem w strategiach rozwoju organizacji. Z jednej strony naświetlone
zostały tu problemy zarządzania bezpieczeństwem organizacji
rozumiane jako możliwości ciągłego, efektywnego funkcjonowania głównie
firm produkcyjnych przy wsparciu m.in. współczesnych systemów
informatycznych. Z drugiej – zwrócono uwagę na wzrost znaczenia bezpieczeństwa
opisywanego jako bezpieczeństwo publiczne. Ten nurt w zarządzaniu
zyskuje na znaczeniu wobec narastających, nieoczekiwanych
zagrożeń, również pandemicznych. Także na znaczeniu zyskują działania
zarządcze w przedsiębiorstwach świadczących usługi dla szerokich rzesz
społeczeństwa. Problem, ten omówiono na przykładzie bezpieczeństwa
ruchu kolejowego.
Poruszono różne ważne kwestie szczegółowe, między innymi skuteczność
narzędzi informatycznych w zakresie komunikowania istotnych
informacji biznesowych, wspomaganie procesów biznesowych z wykorzystaniem
Publikacja ukazuje wybrane aspekty dorobku naukowego i obszary
zainteresowań badawczych zarówno pracowników Wydziału Zarządzania
i Komunikacji Społecznej Krakowskiej Akademii im. Andrzeja Frycza Modrzewskiego,
jak i pracowników innych uczelni i wydziałów, w szczególności
deklarujących dyscyplinę nauki o zarządzaniu i jakości."(...
“Actually, it could be like this, why it is not?” : Examining early career in-service Polish preschool teachers’ conceptions of preschool children’s contributions to their own education through the lens of the Swedish Preschool Curriculum
Throughout the world, children's contributions to the preschool education are key for respecting children's rights and establishing the environment of democratic relationships between teachers and children. However, it is unclear how, internationally, given the various cultural contexts and steering documents, teachers conceptualize a child and therefore engage children in their everyday practices at preschools. The aim of this study was to examine early career in-service Polish preschool teachers’ reflections on the Swedish curriculum’s view of the child and children's contributions to their own education, as well as to identify obstacles for incorporating these contributions in the Polish preschool teachers’ practices. Furthermore, the study aimed to document Polish preschool teachers’ conceptualizations of potential implementations in their own practices of the Swedish curriculum's principles and guidelines representing pre-schoolers as competent contributors. Four focus groups interviews were conducted with 11 early career in-service Polish preschool teachers. Results indicate that Polish preschool teachers do not generally support children's contributions and conceive of a child as incompetent and in the need of control. Nevertheless, when discussing Pedagogical Documentation as a tool to develop their work practices, the preschool teachers presented an altered view of a child and could identify possible implementations of the Swedish practices based on children's contributions. It might suggest that the way in which teachers conceptualize children vary according to the context and hence, Pedagogical Documentation could be a promising tool for promoting genuine contributions by children in Poland. Given the complexity of the phenomenon and the potential for changes in the Polish preschool provision, future large-scale research on how exactly the pedagogical tools, steering documents and the work environment can influence on the teachers’ practices, is recommended

Can aid stimulate productivity in Sub-Saharan Africa? A dynamic panel approach
The aim of the study was to examine the impact of the official development aid (ODA) on productivity in Sub-Saharan Africa. As development policies embrace different types of aid interventions, we decomposed aid by type of flows and analysed their relations with 24 African states’ productivity (measured by total factor productivity) over the period 1995-2014. Results of the dynamic panel model estimation reveal important implications for the development cooperation policy agenda. It appears that although total value of ODA does not support productivity, technical aid disbursements are associated with higher total factor productivity. This implies that the implementation of technical cooperation enables absorption of technology and contributes to the increase of technology development in recipient Sub-Saharan African countries. The results are fairly robust. Moreover, in this study we confirm that low infrastructure development and shortages in primary education are associated with lower productivity, while trade openness, development of financial market, and political stability - with higher productivity values
Authoritarian Leadership, Conflicts and Economic Performance in Sub-Saharan Africa
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The goal of the paper is to analyze how the authoritarian leadership could impact economic performance in the region of Sub-Saharan Africa in the post-colonial period until currently.
THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: Authoritarian leadership and power abuse led to a number of armed conflicts in the region since its formal independence. This may be accounted as one of the reasons, for which the region lags in terms of economic development compared to developed countries. The research comprises of qualitative and quantitative methods, including comparative analysis, basic statistics, and correlations.
THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: First, the literature review was conducted with the application of comparative and system analysis. Next, based on the available World Value Survey and Global Governance Indicators data, empirical analysis of the power indicators and economic growth relations in sub-Saharan Africa was performed. The results are discussed in the context of the ideas anchored in the theory of public choice and new institutional economics.
RESEARCH RESULTS: The results indicate the existence of a power paradox, which burdens development of the region, people rely on strong leaders despite the fact that strong leadership leads to power abuse and economic crises. The attitudes to politics, democracy and trust are particular for the region and may be related with this problem.
CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The lack of control mechanisms over the exercise of public authority in politically unstable Sub-Saharan African countries contributes to the consolidation of unfavorable attitudes and the abuse of power by privileged position by political leaders. The focus should be placed on reinforcement of institutional capacities and accountability for power abuse
