Tourism and Guidebooks in the Activities of Academic Staff at the Faculty of Fine Art at Stefan Batory University in Vilnius

Stefan Batory University in Vilnius was established in 1919 as a regional entity to carry out scientific research and develop Polish academic education. One of its faculties – the Faculty of Fine Arts (1930–1939) – gathered charismatic and popular artists, historians and architects. Among them, two professors – Juliusz Kłos (1888–1933) and Marian Morelowski – published the guidebooks for Vilnius and Wileńszczyzna region (Wilno. Przewodnik krajoznawczy, 1937; Zarys sztuki wileńskiej z przewodnikiem po zabytkiem między Niemnem a Dźwiną, 1939). The book written by Kłos gained popularity and was often purchased by the tourists who visited Vilnius. The aim of the article is to determine the main methodology, historical approaches and working styles of both authors. Moreover, the paper involves their attitude towards developing tourism, cultural heritage and historical research. The article also involves the main ideas of artistic education professors had and how much tourism was involved in the whole education process for them

Amendment to the general directives of judicial sentencing (Article 53(1) of the Penal Code) as a determinant of a change in the punishment philosophy?

The paper aims to determine whether the amendment (editorial and allocative) to the general directives of judicial sentencing (Article 53(1) of the Penal Code) can be a fac-tor directing towards a pro-repressive modelling of the penal policy. A comparative analysis of the previous and the new (i.e. in force since 1 October 2023) redaction of the general directives of judicial sentencing will serve as a starting point for answering the question whether the courts will be “obliged” to take into account the analyzed regulations “in the spirit” of repressiveness. Giving a negative answer in this respect, the paper will present anattempt to provide the general directives of judicial sentencing with a correct interpretation that de facto abstracts from the distorted intentions of the originators. Further in the paper, attention will also be paid to whether the new wording of Article 53(1) of the Penal Code will be of significance to increasing the practical usefulness of the discussed determinants in the process of judicial sentencing.Celem artykułu jest ustalenie, czy zmiana (redakcyjna oraz alokacyjna) ogólnych dyrektyw sądowego wymiaru kary (art. 53 § 1 k.k.) może stanowić czynnik ukierunkowu-jący na prorepresyjnie zorientowane modelowanie polityki karnej. Komparatystyczna analiza poprzednio obowiązującej oraz nowej (tj. obowiązującej od 1 października 2023 r.) redakcji ogólnych dyrektyw sądowego wymiaru kary będzie stanowiła punkt wyjścia do udzieleniaodpowiedzi na pytanie, czy sądy będą zobligowane do uwzględniania analizowanych regulacji w duchu represyjności. Udzielając odpowiedzi negatywnej w tym zakresie, w artykule przedstawiono próbę nadania ogólnym dyrektywom sądowego wymiaru kary prawidłowej wykładni, de facto abstrahującej od wypaczonych intencji projektodawców. W dalszej części opracowania zwrócono uwagę również na to, czy zmodyfikowane ujęcie art. 53 § 1 k.k. może mieć znaczenie dla zwiększenia praktycznej przydatności omawianych determinantów w procesie sądowego wymiaru kary

Okołoliteracka edukacja obywatelska w Kanadzie a potrzeba polskich rozwiązań programowych

The article describes an example of an excerpt from a program / proposal for project activities by Shawntelle Nesbitt around books from the Canadian ‘Holocaust Remembrance Series for Young Readers’. In the context of the proposed core curriculum for the Polish language, formulated by Krzysztof Biedrzycki, the values of the didactic package for Canadian schools were discussed. In Canada literary education is closely related to civic education, as well as other educational goals (Character Education). Foreign solutions were indicated as a valuable example for the creators of the new core curriculum for the Polish school.W artykule został opisany przykład fragmentu programu / propozycji działań projektowych autorstwa Shawntelle Nesbitt wokół książek dla młodego odbiorcy z kanadyjskiej serii Holocaust Remembrance Series for Young Readers. W kontekście propozycji podstawy programowej do języka polskiego, sformułowanej przez Krzysztofa Biedrzyckiego, omówiono walory pakietu dydaktycznego dla kanadyjskich szkół, w którym kształcenie literackie łączy się ściśle z edukacją obywatelską, a także celami wychowawczymi. Prawnokarny zakaz wstępu na imprezę masową

This article aims at analysing the punitive measure in the form of a ban on participation at mass events in the view of the criminal law. The study refers to not only the ratio legis of implementing that institution but also to the statutory prerequisites determining the justifiability of adjudicating that measure. Further, the article also presents possible forms of the said ban, as well as the legal consequences related to the infringement thereof. In the end notes, the study highlights the basic interpretation difficulties related to the application of the discussed regulation. Furthermore, the article expresses the view that ensuring security during mass events requires, in fact, the application of a number of mechanisms, both of a legal and an extralegal nature.Celem niniejszego artykułu jest prawnokarna analiza środka karnego w postaci zakazu wstępu na imprezę masową. W opracowaniu tym odwołano się nie tylko do ratio legis wprowadzenia tej instytucji, lecz także do ustawowych przesłanek determinujących zasadność orzeczenia tego środka. W dalszej kolejności wskazano również możliwe postacie omawianego zakazu, a także konsekwencje prawne związane z jego nieprzestrzeganiem. W ramach uwag końcowych zasygnalizowano z kolei podstawowe trudności interpretacyjne, które wiążą się ze stosowaniem omawianej regulacji. Ponadto, wyrażono pogląd, iż zapewnienie bezpieczeństwa podczas imprez masowych wymaga w istocie zaangażowania szeregu mechanizmów zarówno o charakterze prawnym, jak i pozaprawnym
