SIMULATION OF T-JOINTS BETWEEN RHS STEEL MEMBERS WITH OFFSET IN ABAQUS CAE

    Get PDF
The current paper focuses on numerical simulation peculiarities of offset welded rectangular hollow section joints. Understanding the modelling techniques can result in easier and faster and above all correct outcomes from FEA for future use. The steel joints under discussion are composed from cold-formed regular rectangular hollow sections where RHS brace members are laterally shifted from chord axis. Joints work under monotonically increasing compression load applied to a brace top. Numerical models were developed in FE programme Abaqus. FE-models is composed of C3D8R 8-noded solid linear brick elements with an emphasis on mesh size effect and modelling of a weld seam. FE advanced model were compiled considering both material and geometric nonlinearities. For validation purposes, the full-scale laboratory tests were conducted. Proposed FE models reliably predict the structural behaviour of welded offset T-joints thanks to good agreement achieved on deformation limit 3 % b0 with the maximum deviation 10.3 %

Biorecognition Ability of Polysaccharides as Piezo Quartz Biosensors

Piezoquartz biosensors (PQB) which are analytical devices for recognition of biochemical interactions have recently attracted increasing interest from different researchers such as analysts, immune-chemists, medical doctors, environmentalists, etc. This is due to the advantages of PQB for having high detection sensitivity (at ng and mg level depending on the mass of sorbates or micro-organisms) and the ability to monitor biochemical reactions in turbid or highly coloured liquids (including in biological fluids) in real time. The use of additional markers and preliminary sample preparation are not required in this biorecognition process. This paper reports on the principle of the PQB and the design units to perform analysis in static and dynamic conditions using different types of biomolecules (immunoglobulins, DNA, lipopolysaccharides, glycoconjugates, hapten-protein conjugates and polysaccharides). Research results performed at the Department of Chemistry, Lipetsk State Technical University (Russia) and School of Physics, College of Natural Sciences, UDOM (Tanzania) are presented. The report aims to review various examples of use of carbohydrate molecules and glycoconjugates in the design of the PQB. These examples include the following: use of sulphated polysaccharides to increase the strength of the sensor’s bio-laye;, use of glycolipids such as O-antigens of bacteria (Yersinia enterocolitica) with different chemical structures in the development of immunosensors for the determination of specific immunoglobulins at 3-100 mg/ml levels in serum; and the use of polysaccharide hydrogels of the first chemical structure (hyaluronic acid, zosteran and neutral and acidic polysaccharide fractions isolated from water hyacinth Eichhornia crassipes) in studying their effectiveness in Pb2 +ions sorption.Key Words: Quartz crystal microbalance, piezoquartz biosensors (PQB), bioreceptor molecules, polysaccharide hydro gel, liquid media, “dip and dry”, flow injection analysis (FIA), adsorption, heavy metals

    FinTech Market Development Perspectives

    Get PDF
Fast development of technologies has led to emergence of the new market – FinTech – which is very attractive for investors today. By now this market has a great number of different concepts: P2P-crediting, E-wallets, Bitcoins, mPOS-acquiring, T-commerce, mobile banks, etc. Many of these tools have already heavily entered our ordinary life. People can obtain any credits through special services on the Internet from other users without participation of banks, pay by credit card using mobile devices, and get information about expenses and incomes according to the card anywhere in the world. Users do not need to go to banks anymore and to spend their time for credit arrangements, currency exchange, to look for ATMs to remove cash. Purchases on the Internet can be paid not only in rubles, but also in new digital currency. These tools make life easier, however, they pose a serious threat for banks. Now, bank institutions should create more convenient and utility services for the clients to keep clients. Therefore, bank and credit systems start to change actively

Purpose : to make a program of physical rehabilitation for convalescents after community-acquired pneumonia, promotes normalization of respiratory function. The objectives of the study was to evaluate the dynamics spirographic indicators during convalescence community-acquired pneumonia. Material: the study involved 28 women aged 19 to 24 years with a diagnosis of community-acquired pneumonia after convalescent. Results: the positive influence of physiotherapy based dance aerobics; morning hygienic gymnastics; therapeutic massage and physical therapy on indicators of lung volumes, ventilation and bronchial patency according spirographic research. Conclusion: in community-acquired pneumonia during the convalescence period recommended physical rehabilitation, which includes curative gymnastics based on dance aerobics, morning hygienic gymnastics, massage therapy, physiotherapy. It improves the functionality of the cardiorespiratory system, nonspecific immunity and overall physical performance level

Urban Economies Resource Productivity and Decoupling: Metabolism Trends of 1996-2011 in Sweden, Stockholm, and Gothenburg

    Get PDF
Resource productivity and evidence of economic decoupling were investigated on the basis of the time series in 1996-2011 of material flow analysis for Sweden, Stockholm, and Gothenburg. In the three cases, absolute reductions in CO2 emissions by about 20% were observed, energy consumption per capita decreased, while gross domestic product (GDP) per capita grew. The energy consumption of the residential and public sectors decreased drastically, while the transport energy consumption is still growing steadily. Decoupling of the economy as a whole (i.e., including materials) is not yet happening at any scale. The domestic material consumption (DMC) continues to increase, in parallel with the GDP. The rate of increase for DMC is slower than that for GDP in both Stockholm and Sweden as a whole (i.e., relative decoupling). The metabolism of the cities does not replicate the national metabolism, and the two cities each have their own distinct metabolism profiles. As a consequence, policy implications for each of the case studies were suggested. In general, because of the necessarily different roles of the two cities in the national economy, generic resource productivity benchmarks, such as CO2 per capita, should be avoided in favor of sectorial benchmarks, such as industry, transport, or residential CO2 per capita. In addition, the share of the city impacts caused by the provision of a service for the rest of the country, such as a port, could be allocated to the national economy

PSYCHOLINGUISTIC PECULIARITIES IN UNDERSTANDING OF INDIRECT MEANING OF PROVERBS BY CHILDREN OF PRE-SCHOOL AGE

The study reveales psycholinguistic peculiarities of understanding of indirect meaning of the proverbs of Ukrainian speaking pre-school children. The experiment took place on the basis of pre-school education establishments of Ukraine. Children were proposed to express themselves in order to find out how they understand given proverbs. If they had difficulties in meaning explication, so they were proposed some variants of proverbs interpretations, among which the first was correct (with indirect meaning) and the second with the direct meaning and the third with occasional associative meaning. The experiment proved such results: there are children with obvious intuitive language ability to feel the general meaning of proverbs. The proverb understanding is seen by child as complex cognitive task, which foresees decipherment of the common thought or conclusion, understanding its meaning (implication). That is why the proverbs cause problems among children.
