    Hopa hemsinlis: history, language and identity

    This thesis aims at studying with the Homşetsnak/Hemşince speaking Hopa Hemşinlis with a focus on their history, language, culture, and ethnic identity with the use of ethnographic data and oral history interviews. My analysis focuses on how Hopa Hemşinlis construct their past at the present, as well as the already existing studies on Hemşin history within a discussion of history writing in general. This study also describes the history of Hemşince focusing on the language ideologies held by Hopa Hemşinlis in addition to the processes having impact on the use of Hemşince. In this study, it is depicted that Hemşin history and language are resorted as sites for ethnic identity negotiations and discussions by researchers as well as Hopa Hemşinlis. Although there have been endeavors to attain Turkish and Armenian origins to Hopa Hemşinlis, which still continue today, Hopa Hemşinlis exhibit a strong sense of Hemşinli identity

    Access of Discharged Schizophrenia Patients to Employment and Association Memberships in Turkey

    Background: Patients with schizophrenia can experience a deteriorated performance in many of the skills needed in daily life, the workplace, the family circle, or in social interactions.Objective: This definitive study used comparison to evaluate the functionality, treatment compliance to therapy, and styles of coping with stress of schizophrenic patients who work and are members of an association.Methods: The individuals participating in this study were divided into four groups. Group 1 were members of an association and employed; Group 2 were members of an association and unemployed; Group 3 comprised non-members who were employed; and group 4 were non-members and unemployed. A total of 60 patients (15 in each group) comprised the sample. Data was collected by means of the Individual Information Form, the Adaptation Rate Scale for Medical Therapy, the Functional Recovery Scale in Schizophrenia Patients, and the Scale for Coping with Stress. Statistical analyses and interpretations were conducted using frequency and percentage, t test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) to assess the data.Results: It was observed that being a member of an association and working at a job affected the social and occupational functionalities in schizophrenia patients participating in the study, but the styles of therapy adaptation and coping with stress did not affect these areas.Conclusion: Results indicated that the use of current antipsychotic drugs did not affect functional areas, therapy adaptation, or styles of coping with stress

    Beta-glucan attenuates cerebral ischemia/reperfusion-induced neuronal injury in a C57BL/J6 mouse model

    Beta-glucans (βg), that have many useful effects on human health, are natural polysaccharides. Our aim in this study was to determine useful effect of βg against oxidative and neuronal damage caused by global cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (IR) in stroke imitated mice via surgical operation. A total of 40 mice divided into four equal groups randomly. The group 1 (sham operated) was kept as control. Bilateral carotid arteries of subjects in group 2 (I/R) and group 4 (I/ R + βg) were clipped for 15 min, and the mice in group 4 (I/R + βg) were treated with βg (50 mg/kg/day), while the mice in group 2 (I/R) were treated with only vehicle for 10 days. The mice of group 3 (βg) were treated with βg for 10 days without carotid occlusion. Global cerebral I/R significantly increased oxidative stress and decreased members of antioxidant defense system. In addition, I/R caused histopathological damage in the brain tissue. However, βg treatment ameliorated both oxidative and histopathological effects of I/R. Our present study showed that βg treatment significantly ameliorated oxidative and histological damage in the brain tissue caused by cerebral I/R. Therefore, βg treatment can be used as supportive care for ischemic stroke patients

Bu alan içerisindeki iĢlenmiĢ bulunun orman suçlarındaki artıĢlara ve azalıĢlara etki eden faktörler ele alınmıĢtır. Bu amaçla; Bölge Müdürlüğümüz faaliyet sınırları içerisinde yer alan Amasya, Çorum, Samsun ve Tokat illerinde adli yargılamaya konu olan orman suçları incelenmiĢtir.     Spontaneous bilateral quadriceps rupture is rarely seen in systemic diseases. Although the underlying mechanism in tendon rupture is not clearly understood, β2-amyloidosis, chronic acidosis, impaired collagen metabolism, accumulation of uremic toxins and secondary hyperparathyroidism are held to be responsible. The patients with bilateral spontaneous quadriceps rupture can be able to achieve significant functional improvement with the postoperative rehabilitation program.     Türkiye Romatizma Araştırma ve Savaş Derneği ankilozan spondilit ulusal tedavi önerileri

    Objectives: To develop Turkish League Against Rheumatism (TLAR) National Recommendations for the management of ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Materials and methods: A scientific committee of 25 experts consisting of six rheumatologists and 19 physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists was formed by TLAR. Recommendations were based on the 2006 ASsessment in Ankylosing Spondylitis International Working Group(ASAS)/European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) recommendations and a systematic review of associated publications between January 2005 and September 2010. A Delphi process was used to develop the recommendations. Twelve major recommendations were constructed for the management of AS. Voting using a numerical rating scale assessed the strength of each recommendation. Results: The 12 recommendations include patient assessment, patient follow-up along with pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods. Some minor additions and changes have been made to the ASAS/EULAR recommendations. All of the recommendations had sufficient strength. Conclusion: National recommendations for the management of AS were developed based on scientific evidence and consensus expert opinion. These recommendations will be updated regularly in accordance with recent developments.Türkiye Romatizma Araştırma ve Savaş Derneği᾽nin (TRASD) Ankilozan Spondilit (AS) için ulusal tedavi önerilerinin oluşturulmasıdır. Gereç ve yöntemler: TRASD tarafından altı Romatoloji ve 19 Fiziksel Tıp ve Rehabilitasyon uzmanı olmak üzere toplam 25 kişiden oluşan bir bilimsel kurul oluşturuldu. Önerilerde 2006 yılında yayınlanan Ankilozan Spondilit Değerlendirme Uluslararası Çalışma Grubu (ASAS)/Romatizmaya karşı Avrupa Ligi (EULAR) önerileri ve Ocak 2005 - Eylül 2010 arasında yayınlanmış olan ilişkili yayınlar konusundaki sistematik bir inceleme temel alındı. Öneriler oluşturulurken Delphi süreci kullanıldı. Ankilozan spondilit tedavisi ile ilgili 12 ana öneri oluşturuldu. Oylama yapılarak önerilerin güçlülük düzeyi bir nümerik derecelendirme skalası ile belirlendi. Bulgular: On iki öneri hasta değerlendirilmesini, hasta takibini ve farmakolojik ve non-farmakolojik yöntemleri içermektedir. ASAS/EULAR önerilerine bazı ilaveler ve önerilerde bazı küçük değişiklikler yapılmıştır. Tüm öneriler yeterli kuvvete sahipti. Sonuç: Bilimsel kanıtlar ve uzmanların görüş birliği ile AS tedavisine yönelik ulusal öneriler oluşturulmuştur. Bu öneriler, yeni gelişmeler doğrultusunda düzenli olarak güncellenmelidi

Oysaki günümüz eğitim sistemlerinde öğrenci merkezliliği artmış ve öğretmenin mesleki gelişimini sürdürme zorunluluğu öne çıkmıştır. Bu bağlamda, öğretmenin liderlik becerilerini bilmesi, geliştirmesi ve işlevselleştirmesi için her türlü araştırmanın hızlı bir şekilde çoğaltılıp yaygınlaştırılması gerekmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı; Düzce ilinde bulunan resmi ve özel ortaokullarda görev yapan öğretmenlerin öğretimsel liderlik davranışlarını bilme ve gösterebilme düzeylerini saptamak ve öğretmenlerin öğretmen liderliğine ilişkin görüşlerini belirlemektir. Bu çalışma ile ülkemizde sınırlı sayıda çalışma yapılmış olan öğretmen liderliği ile ilgili farklı bir bakış açısı geliştirerek, öğretmen liderliğinin okul ve öğrenci başarısı için ne kadar önemli olduğunu göstermesi beklenmektedir. Liderlik sürecinde en etkili yollardan biri, iletişim ve işbirliği içinde çalışmaktır. Bu nedenle, öğretmen liderler için farkındalık oluşturmak ve öğretmen liderliği ile ilgili yapılacak diğer çalışmalar için araştırmacılara fikir vermek ve literatüre katkı sağlamak açısından önem arz etmektedir. Araştırmanın amacına uygun olarak toplanan veriler istatistik paket programına işlenmiştir. Ölçekten elde edilen öğretmenlerin algı ve beklenti ölçeklerinin geneli ve alt faktörleri bağlamında puanların normal dağılım varsayımının sınanması için Kolmogorov-Smirnov Z testi incelemiş p>,05'e göre puan dağılımının normal dağıldığı yani normallik varsayımını sağladığı görülmektedir. Çalışma sonucunda, ortaokullarda görev yapan öğretmenlerin öğretimsel liderlik davranışlarının gerekliliklerine ilişkin beklentileri ile öğretimsel liderlik davranışlarını sergileme derecelerine ilişkin algıları arasında ilişkinin olduğu görülmüştür. Çalışmaya katılan öğretmenlerin öğretimsel liderlik davranışlarının gerekliliklerine ilişkin beklentileri oldukça yüksektir. Bu nedenle, araştırma sonuçlarına göre ülkemizde öğretimsel liderlik kavramının geliştirilmesi ve uygulanması için öğretmenlerin istekli ve hazır oldukları söylenebilir. Yapılacak yeni çalışmalar ve uygulanacak eylem planları ile öğretmenlerin, öğretimsel liderlik davranışlarını sergileme oranlarının hızla artacağı öngörülmektedir.When it is called about teacher leadership or instructional leadership, the school administrators come to mind as first. However, in today's educational systems, student centering has increased and the necessity of continuation of teacher's professional development has come forward. In this context, it is necessary that all kinds of researches be rapidly multiplied and disseminated in order for the teacher to know, develop and functionalize leadership skills. The purpose of this research is to determine the present level of knowing and demonstrating the instructional leadership behaviors of the teachers who work in the public and private secondary schools in Düzce and to identify the opinions of the teachers about the teacher leadership. This study is expected to show the importance of teacher leadership for school and student achievement by developing a different point of view on teacher leadership which has been studied in a limited number of works in our country. One of the most effective ways in the leadership process is to work in communication and cooperation. For this reason, it is important to create awareness for the leader teachers and give an opinion to the researchers and contribute to the literature for other studies about the leadership of the teacher. For the purpose of the study, the collected data were processed into the statistics package program. It is seen that the Kolmogorov-Smirnov Z test has been tested for testing the assumption of normal distribution of scores in the context of the general and sub-factors of the perception and expectation scales of the teachers obtained from the scale, and it is seen that the distribution of points according to p>,05 is normal distribution, that is normality assumption. As a result of the study, it is seen that there is a relation between the expectations of the teachers who work in secondary schools about the necessity of instructional leadership behaviors and the perceptions of the degrees of display of instructional leadership behaviors. Teachers involved in this study have high expectations about the requirements of instructional leadership behaviors. For this reason, according to the results of the research, it can be said that the teachers are willing and ready for the development and implementation of the concept of instructional leadership in our country. With the new work to be done and the action plans to be implemented, it is foreseen that the rate of teachers showing their instructional leadership behaviors will increase rapidly
