Evaluation of circumferential airflow uniformity entering combustors from compressors. Volume 2: Data supplement

    Get PDF
A study of the airflow uniformity leaving compressors and entering combustors was made using compressors from two advanced engines, the J58 and F100/F401. The data used in the analysis of each case is presented in tabular form and computer-generated profile plots. A plot of the square root of the dynamic pressure ratio, which is similar to airflow deviation, is also presented

Acoustic emission spectral analysis of fiber composite failure mechanisms

    Get PDF
The acoustic emission of graphite fiber polyimide composite failure mechanisms was investigated with emphasis on frequency spectrum analysis. Although visual examination of spectral densities could not distinguish among fracture sources, a paired-sample t statistical analysis of mean normalized spectral densities did provide quantitative discrimination among acoustic emissions from 10 deg, 90 deg, and plus or minus 45 deg, plus or minus 45 deg sub s specimens. Comparable discrimination was not obtained for 0 deg specimens

Maternal Pre‐Pregnancy Body Mass Index Is Not Associated With Infant and Young Child Feeding in Low‐Income Mexican Children 1–24 Months Old

    Get PDF
Pre-pregnancy overweight and obesity is associated with shorter breastfeeding (BF) duration. Whether pre-pregnancy overweight and obesity is associated with other aspects of infant and young child feeding (IYCF) hasnot been investigated. We used data from 370 children born January 1999–September 2001 in a semi-urbancommunity in Morelos, Mexico, where information on how they were fed was available at 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 and 24months of age. We modified the World Health Organization’s dietary diversity indicator to assess the quality ofthe complementary foods. An index that included BF, quality of complementary foods and other behaviours wasconstructed to measure IYCF. We used survival analysis to examine the association of pre-pregnancy body massindex (pBMI) category and BF duration and mixed models for quality of complementary food and IYCF index.Mean maternal pBMI was 24.44.1; 31% were overweight, and 9% were obese. pBMI was not associated with BF duration. Quality of complementary food improved over time (6 months, 1.3 1.3; 24 months, 3.8 1.04).Compared with normal-weight women, overweight and obese women were more likely to feed from more foodgroups (0.24 0.11 point,P=0.03), but this did not improve diet diversity from 6 to 24 months. IYCF indexdecreased throughout follow-up (1 month, 7.8 2.4; 24 months, 5.5 1.8), and pBMI was not associated withIYCF (-0.11 0.13 point,P=0.4). We conclude that heavier women were not engaging in IYCF behaviours thatwere distinct from those of normal-weight women from 1 to 24 months post-partum

    Hybrid Ion-Detector/Data-Acquisition System for a TOF-MS

    Get PDF
A modified ion-detector/data-acquisition system has been devised to increase the dynamic range of a time-of-flight mass spectrometer (TOF-MS) that, previously, included a microchannel-plate detector and a data-acquisition system based on counting pulses and time-tagging them by use of a time-to-digital converter (TDC). The dynamic range of the TOF-MS was limited by saturation of the microchannel plate detector, which can handle no more than a few million counts per second. The modified system includes (1) a combined microchannel plate/discrete ion multiplier and (2) a hybrid data-acquisition system that simultaneously performs analog current or voltage measurements and multianode single-ion-pulse-counting time-of-flight measurements to extend the dynamic range of a TDC into the regime in which a mass peak comprises multiple ions arriving simultaneously at the detector. The multianode data are used to determine, in real time, whether the detector is saturated. When saturation is detected, the data-acquisition system selectively enables circuitry that simultaneously determines the ion-peak intensity by measuring the time profile of the analog current or voltage detector-output signal

Multidimensional sexual perfectionism and female sexual function: A longitudinal investigation

    Get PDF
Research on multidimensional sexual perfectionism differentiates four forms of sexual perfectionism: self-oriented, partner-oriented, partner-prescribed, and socially prescribed. Self-oriented sexual perfectionism reflects perfectionistic standards people apply to themselves as sexual partners; partner-oriented sexual perfectionism reflects perfectionistic standards people apply to their sexual partner; partner-prescribed sexual perfectionism reflects people’s beliefs that their sexual partner imposes perfectionistic standards on them; and socially prescribed sexual perfectionism reflects people’s beliefs that society imposes such standards on them. Previous studies found partner-prescribed and socially prescribed sexual perfectionism to be maladaptive forms of sexual perfectionism associated with a negative sexual self-concept and problematic sexual behaviors, but only examined cross-sectional relationships. The present article presents the first longitudinal study examining whether multidimensional sexual perfectionism predicts changes in sexual self-concept and sexual function over time. A total of 366 women aged 17-69 years completed measures of multidimensional sexual perfectionism, sexual esteem, sexual anxiety, sexual problem self-blame, and female sexual function (cross-sectional data). Three to six months later, 164 of the women completed the same measures again (longitudinal data). Across analyses, partner-prescribed sexual perfectionism emerged as the most maladaptive form of sexual perfectionism. In the cross-sectional data, partner-prescribed sexual perfectionism showed positive relationships with sexual anxiety, sexual problem self-blame, and intercourse pain and negative relationships with sexual esteem, desire, arousal, lubrication, and orgasmic function. In the longitudinal data, partner-prescribed sexual perfectionism predicted increases in sexual anxiety and decreases in sexual esteem, arousal, and lubrication over time. The findings suggest that partner-prescribed sexual perfectionism contributes to women’s negative sexual self-concept and female sexual dysfunction

The Five Factor Model of personality and evaluation of drug consumption risk

The problem of evaluating an individual's risk of drug consumption and misuse is highly important. An online survey methodology was employed to collect data including Big Five personality traits (NEO-FFI-R), impulsivity (BIS-11), sensation seeking (ImpSS), and demographic information. The data set contained information on the consumption of 18 central nervous system psychoactive drugs. Correlation analysis demonstrated the existence of groups of drugs with strongly correlated consumption patterns. Three correlation pleiades were identified, named by the central drug in the pleiade: ecstasy, heroin, and benzodiazepines pleiades. An exhaustive search was performed to select the most effective subset of input features and data mining methods to classify users and non-users for each drug and pleiad. A number of classification methods were employed (decision tree, random forest, kk-nearest neighbors, linear discriminant analysis, Gaussian mixture, probability density function estimation, logistic regression and na{\"i}ve Bayes) and the most effective classifier was selected for each drug. The quality of classification was surprisingly high with sensitivity and specificity (evaluated by leave-one-out cross-validation) being greater than 70\% for almost all classification tasks. The best results with sensitivity and specificity being greater than 75\% were achieved for cannabis, crack, ecstasy, legal highs, LSD, and volatile substance abuse (VSA).Comment: Significantly extended report with 67 pages, 27 tables, 21 figure

Willingness to Get Vaccinated and Attitude Toward COVID-19 among Humanities and Social Sciences Students

    Get PDF
Divergent viewpoints about COVID-19 health guidelines continue to impact the collective effort to reduce COVID-19 transmission. Thus, this descriptive-correlational study was conducted to determine if there is a significant relationship between the level of willingness to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and the attitude toward COVID-19 among sixty randomly selected Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students of the University of San Carlos - South Campus in Cebu City, Philippines. Online data collection was done through two adapted and reliable Likert-type survey questionnaires. The findings indicated that the degree of willingness to be vaccinated was high (x = 3.79, SD = .98), while the level of attitude toward COVID-19 was very high (x = 4.36, SD = .75). Moreover, the correlation between the two variables was found to be significant, r(58) = 0.48, p = .000104, p < .05 at = .05. Therefore, the null hypothesis of no significant relationship was rejected, and the researchers found that there is a weakly positive correlation (r =.48) between the levels of willingness to be vaccinated and the students' attitude regarding COVID-19. This result indicates that their attitude toward COVID-19 improves in proportion to their vaccination willingness. This also suggests that adolescents who understand authorized COVID-19 vaccination guidelines are more eager to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The researchers recommend that more initiatives be developed to boost the public's desire and attitude toward COVID-19 immunization, and that additional research be conducted to validate results and examine trends in other communities
