Title: Knee - straining of modern gymnasts For the basic study of human movements we need to take into consideration geometry of moving units (bodies), kinematics and dynamics. The theoretical part generally describes all the subjects connected to the research project, especially information about functions of human musculoskeletal system, description of basic biomechanics of knee joint, walking and methods of acquiring and processing of data for kinematic analysis of walking. The experimental part focuses on straining on a knee joint of modern gymnasts. It is a methodical analysis of straining on a knee joint. The foundations for this diploma thesis are data recorded by the Kistler system which we used for measuring of the dynamical part of a jump. We also used the swedish Qualysis Motion Capture system for the kinematic analysis. All the data were processed by Qualysis Track Manager software. The results of the research is kinematical - dynamic analysis, which is further used for the result of full - year of legs - straining of selected type of sport movement. Amateur Subtitling of French Films

The aim of the thesis is to describe the problematics of the amateur subtitling. We focus especially on French films subtitling. We concentrate on production, distribution, reception of amateur subtitles and we compare them with the official environment. Further we analyze subtitles of the movie La Haine by one professional and two amateur translators and examine the translation of unconventional French and realii. These days amateur subtitling is a widespread phenomenon. However not many people are familiar with it and understand it. This thesis is supposed to inform about the amateur subtitling environment.Institute of Translation StudiesÚstav translatologieFaculty of ArtsFilozofická fakult

The Human Phenotype Ontology in 2024: phenotypes around the world.

The Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO) is a widely used resource that comprehensively organizes and defines the phenotypic features of human disease, enabling computational inference and supporting genomic and phenotypic analyses through semantic similarity and machine learning algorithms. The HPO has widespread applications in clinical diagnostics and translational research, including genomic diagnostics, gene-disease discovery, and cohort analytics. In recent years, groups around the world have developed translations of the HPO from English to other languages, and the HPO browser has been internationalized, allowing users to view HPO term labels and in many cases synonyms and definitions in ten languages in addition to English. Since our last report, a total of 2239 new HPO terms and 49235 new HPO annotations were developed, many in collaboration with external groups in the fields of psychiatry, arthrogryposis, immunology and cardiology. The Medical Action Ontology (MAxO) is a new effort to model treatments and other measures taken for clinical management. Finally, the HPO consortium is contributing to efforts to integrate the HPO and the GA4GH Phenopacket Schema into electronic health records (EHRs) with the goal of more standardized and computable integration of rare disease data in EHRs

Selectively Halogenated Flavonolignans—Preparation and Antibacterial Activity

    No full text
A library of previously unknown halogenated derivatives of flavonolignans (silybins A and B, 2,3-dehydrosilybin, silychristin A, and 2,3-dehydrosilychristin A) was prepared. The effect of halogenation on the biological activity of flavonolignans was investigated. Halogenated derivatives had a significant effect on bacteria. All prepared derivatives inhibited the AI-2 type of bacterial communication (quorum sensing) at concentrations below 10 µM. All prepared compounds also inhibited the adhesion of bacteria (Staphyloccocus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) to the surface, preventing biofilm formation. These two effects indicate that the halogenated derivatives are promising antibacterial agents. Moreover, these derivatives acted synergistically with antibiotics and reduced the viability of antibiotic-resistant S. aureus. Some flavonolignans were able to reverse the resistant phenotype to a sensitive one, implying that they modulate antibiotic resistance
