Doñana, Acta Vertebrata y cómo digitalizar con pocos recursos

Sección: La RedLa Biblioteca Campus Cartuja atiende a cinco institutos con áreas temáticas tan variadas que en la mayoría de ocasiones no tienen ningún punto en común, y que por tanto, también sus necesidades son distintas. Este hecho nos ha llevado bastantes veces a plantearnos trabajos bien diferentes para la colección bibliográfica de la Estación Biológica de Doñana. La EBD, por ejemplo, tiene un pequeño pero interesantísimo fondo antiguo que nos ha hecho realizar exposiciones bibliográficas mensualmente para dar a conocer entre nuestros usuarios la riqueza de lo que custodiamos. Esta idea surgió del pasado día del libro, ya que organizamos una exposición sobre revistas científicas antiguas que tuvo una acogida realmente buena.N

Sección: Así somosEn un contexto de crisis económica en la que la amortización de numerosas plazas de trabajadores públicos es un hecho y la optimización es la palabra estrella, no nos sorprendió que se recuperara el proyecto de unificar tres bibliotecas que daban servicios a cincos institutos organizados en tres centros situados dos de ellos en el mismo edificio y otro enfrente. La realidad era que para el personal no conllevaba un problema y para los usuarios que se quedaban sin biblioteca físicamente en su centro tampoco, porque únicamente tendrían que cruzar la calle para acceder a los libros y para poder consultar al personal de la biblioteca.N

Distributional accounts: a tool for monitoring the distribution of household wealth and debt components

Rationale This article presents annual distributions of aggregate wealth and debt components of Spanish households by income and wealth. Distributions for the period 2002 to 2020 are estimated drawing on the seven available waves of the Spanish Survey of Household Finances, while those for the latest period (2021-2022) are predictions. Takeaways •Distributional wealth and debt accounts allow us to monitor the distribution of aggregate wealth and debt among different groups of households when microeconomic data are lacking. •For the period 2020 to 2022, the model estimates that households in the bottom two quintiles of the income distribution saw their share of total housing wealth and debt for purposes other than house purchase rise, by 0.6 pp and 0.4 pp, respectively. By contrast, their share of bank deposits, shares and debt for house purchase is estimated to have fallen, by 0.2 pp, 0.1 pp and 0.3 pp, respectively. •Also for the period 2020 to 2022, the model estimates that households in the top income decile saw their share of total housing wealth and debt for purposes other than house purchase fall, by 0.5 pp and 1.1 pp, respectively, while their share of bank deposits and debt for house purchase is estimated to have risen, by 0.5 pp and 1.2 pp, respectively

The effect of workplace pension schemes on households' private savings

Artículo de revistaThe tax incentive enjoyed by workplace pension schemes could encourage participants to increase their total savings or, alternatively, crowd out savings that would have materialised in other financial vehicles in the absence of this incentive. This article uses data from the Spanish Survey of Household Finances to estimate the additional savings generated by this type of scheme. To this end, the financial position of workplace pension scheme participants is compared to that of a group of workers of similar ages, with similar educational attainment levels and occupations, but who do not participate in such schemes. Once the comparable group is constructed, it can be seen that, on average, each euro saved in workplace pension schemes increases private savings by around 66 cents. This is the ratio of the difference in average net wealth between participants and their comparable group (€13,600) to the average amount accumulated in pension schemes (€20,600). Once adjusted for the fact that contributions are taxexempt, the additional savings generated amount to around 31 cents for every euro contributed, calculated as the ratio of the €6,500 difference in tax-relief-adjusted wealth between the two groups to the average amount accumulated in workplace pension schemes

The challenge of measuring digital platform work

Artículo de revistaThe article presents an overview of digital platform work in Spain and analyses the challenge of quantifying this work in view of the lack of reliable and comprehensive data available. Digital platforms are technological infrastructures that act as intermediaries, facilitating interaction between two or more persons, for the provision of services through IT applications in exchange for payment. Although it is estimated that platform work accounts for less than 5% of the global workforce, this share is expected to increase. In 2018, according to the COLLEEM survey, platform work was the main job of 2.6% of the Spanish population over 16. Including occasional platform work, the figure rose to 18.5%, the highest percentage among the 16 European countries included in the survey. Nevertheless, in practice it is difficult to obtain precise figures, since to date official statistics are not designed to include the gig economy. The article compares the demographic characteristics of platform workers in Spain, according to the COLLEEM survey, and those of self-employed workers and employees according to two Spanish surveys of individuals and households, namely the 2018 Labour Force Survey (Encuesta de Población Activa) and the 2017 Survey of Household Finances (Encuesta Financiera de las Familias). The comparison shows that digital platform workers make up a specific group that is not directly comparable with either employees or the self-employed. To conclude, a number of ways to obtain a better measure of digital platform work are considered. One option would be to include direct questions on these work arrangements in employment survey questionnaires. Another would be to develop integrated datasets, combining the information from administrative records, which include digital platform activities, with surveys of the workers included in those records. In any event, in order for these administrative records and surveys to reflect platform work accurately, labour legislation needs to clearly define the relationship between those providing the services and the platforms

El aprendizaje por problemas y el método científico como vehículo de enseñanza de la prehistoria en el contexto británico: 3, 2, 1 ... back to prehistory!

En el presente Trabajo Final de Grado (TFG) se elabora un proyecto práctico en lengua inglesa, llevado a cabo en un centro escolar de Reino Unido, en el cual se pone en manifiesto el uso del Aprendizaje Basado en Problemas a través de la investigación científica en el área de Ciencias Sociales. Concretamente enfocado a la etapa de la Prehistoria para un alumnado de 4º de Educación Primaria o Year 5 del currículo inglés. Su consecución se logra a través de la metodología de indagación, centrando al alumnado en la obtención, interpretación y análisis de datos para la comprensión de un tema de la Prehistoria. De este modo, el alumno realizará una investigación científica a partir de una situación problema partiendo hacia la indagación, experimentación y verificación de hipótesis. Al ser un proyecto llevado a cabo en el extranjero, se traslada la cultura española a través de ciertos temas que los alumnos tendrán que investigar, dando de este modo un punto intercultural a un tema histórico que concierne a toda la humanidad. Los temas de diversa índole a tratar son: Atapuerca, Hunting and weapons, Lifestyle, Cave paintings (Altamira) and Prehistoric Inventions. A lo largo del proyecto se contará con la ayuda de las Tecnologías de la Información y de la Comunicación (TIC), tanto para la consecución del mismo, como para la evaluación del alumnado a través de la gamificación, concretamente de la mano de la aplicación Plickers.In the present dissertation, an English practical project is developed and carried out in a school of United Kingdom, in which it becomes clear the use of the Problem-based Learning through the scientific inquiry in the area of Social Sciences. Specifically focused on the stage of Prehistory for a fourth year of Primary Education or Year 5 of the English Curriculum. Its achievement is through the methodology of inquiry, focusing the student on obtaining, interpreting and analysing data for the understanding of a theme of Prehistory. In this 4 way, the student makes a scientific investigation from a problematic situation with investigation, experimentation and verification of hypotheses. Being an abroad project, the Spanish culture is carried out through the subjects that the students will have to investigate, thus giving an intercultural point and a historical theme that concern the whole mankind. The subjects of diverse nature to treat, are: Atapuerca, Hunting and weapons, Lifestyle, Cave paintings (Altamira) and Prehistoric Inventions. Throughout the duration of the project we will have the help of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), both for the achievement of the project and for the evaluation of the student through gamification, specifically by the Plickers application

La subtitulación de las canciones en películas musicales: el caso de La La Land (inglés-español)

El presente estudio pretende obtener información significativa acerca de la subtitulación de las canciones en películas musicales a través del análisis detallado de las que conforman la banda sonora original de La La Land. El análisis comprenderá la identificación de las técnicas de traducción empleadas, así como el examen de las restricciones temporales y espaciales que rigen la subtitulación. Además, se explorarán las posibilidades de traducción de las canciones en productos audiovisuales, y se discutirá la idoneidad de la posibilidad escogida en la mencionada película. La revisión de dichos factores permitirá, en última instancia, reflexionar acerca de las particularidades de la subtitulación de canciones en este género cinematográfico en concreto

El aprendizaje por indagación como vehículo de enseñanza de las ciencias en educación infantil: caso secreto: el misterio de las semillas

En el presente Trabajo Final de Grado se elabora un proyecto práctico de innovación educativa aplicada que resalta el valor del aprendizaje por indagación como método científico en las aulas de Educación Infantil. Esto es realizado a través de la implementación y desarrollo del proyecto “Caso secreto: el misterio de las semillas” para tratar la temática de las semillas, su anatomía y necesidades de germinación en un aula de 2º. Todo ello con la ayuda de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) y el aprendizaje colaborativo. Los resultados y conclusiones convergen en una misma dirección que pretende la implementación y promoción del aprendizaje científico por indagación en las aulas de Educación Infantil como herramienta de aprendizaje del entorno. Ya que se ha demostrado que el alumnado ha desarrollado destrezas en el manejo de cuidado de instrumental científico, está motivado a la realización de este tipo de actividades y es ordenado durante las mismas.In the present dissertation, a practical project of applied educational innovation is elaborated that highlights the value of learning by inquiry as a scientific method in the classrooms of Early Childhood Education. This is done through the implementation and development of the project "Secret case: the mystery of the seeds" to deal with the subject of seeds, their anatomy and germination needs in a 2nd classroom. All this with the help of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and collaborative learning. The results and conclusions converge in the same direction that aims to implement and promote scientific learning by inquiry in the classrooms of Early Childhood Education as a learning tool for the environment. Herramienta de seguimiento y cálculo de KPIs

[ES] Hoy en día, el email es la principal vía de comunicación dentro del entorno laboral. Por eso, es fácil que lo que empieza con un simple email termine siendo una cadena interminable en la que resulta complicado y aburrido encontrar información concreta. La finalidad de este proyecto es crear una herramienta que permita de forma sencilla visualizar el trabajo diario, seguir los temas tratados y su estado y a su vez archivarlos con la información principal para poder consultarlos en cualquier momento sin tener que recurrir al email. Además, esta herramienta permitirá obtener KPIs mensuales de forma automática. Para ello, haremos un análisis del intercambio de información a través del email para definir los requisitos de la futura herramienta. Posteriormente, valoraremos las opciones que ofrecen los diferentes programas existentes (Microsoft Office, Google Drive…) comparándolos para decidir cuál es la que mejor se adapta a nuestras necesidades y finalmente desarrollaremos y programaremos herramienta.[EN] Nowadays, email is the main communication channel within the work environment. Because of it we often find emails chains in which it is annoying and also difficult to find specific information. The idea of this project is to create a tool that allows people to easily view daily work, follow up the topics and the status of them and finally archive them with the main information so people can check it fast when it is needed without having to resort to email. In addition, the tool will obtain monthly KPIs automatically. In order to achieve it, first I will make an analysis of the exchange of information through email to define the requirements of the new tool.
