Emprendimiento por necesidad y por oportunidad: el efecto mediador de la cultura

    Get PDF
This paper studies the mediating role of cultural values in explaining the total entrepreneurial activity (TEA) and the entrepreneurs’ motivation -differentiating opportunity versus necessity motives- in countries with different levels of development. Data for 56 countries coming from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) and the Schwartz Value Survey (Schwartz, 1994, 2006b) are analysed using structural equations modelling. The results show that only in higher income countries do Autonomy values boost entrepreneurial activity. Additionally, higher entrepreneurship is found in countries where Egalitarianism predominates, and the effect becomes stronger as income level rises. Furthermore, the Egalitarianism-Hierarchy dimension is also very relevant in explaining the opportunity/necessity ratio

Synthesis of IAN-type N,N-Ligands via Dynamic Kinetic Asymmetric Buchwald-Hartwig Amination

The Pd-catalyzed coupling of racemic heterobiaryl bromides, triflates, or nonaflates with aryl/alkyl primary amines using QUINAP as the ligand provides the corresponding axially chiral heterobiaryl amines with excellent yields and enantioselectivities. Reactivity and structural studies of neutral and cationic oxidative addition intermediates support a dynamic kinetic asymmetric amination mechanism based on the labilization of the stereogenic axis in the latter and suggest that coordination of the amine to the Pd center is the stereodetermining step.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación CTQ2013-48164-C2-1-P, CTQ2013-48164-C2-2-P, RYC-2013-12585 for A.R.European FEDER FundsJunta de Andalucía 2012/FQM 1078

VIE Project: Cultural values and socioeconomic factors as determinants of entrepreneurial intentions

    Get PDF
This paper describes a research project currently being developed by the authors. It aims to analyse the role played by psychosocial, cultural and socioeconomic factors in shaping the entrepreneurial intention. Survey methods will be used on a population of potential entrepreneurs (having not yet performed actual entrepreneurial behaviours). In this sense, undergraduate students and individuals contacting business support centres will be considered as part of the sample. We expect to get a clearer understanding of the psychosocial elements, socioeconomic factors and cultural values affecting the venture-creation decision. The results would be important to policy makers (showing them what to encourage), to practitioners (what to do better), and to researchers (what to clarify)

Eight Congress of European Research in Mathematics Education (CERME 8). Manavgat-Side, Antalya - Turkey, 6-10 February 2013.In this paper we present a description of previous work carried out by the authors on the general issue of designing and implementing a didactical planning for Spanish students from non-compulsory secondary education, 16-17 years old. The current research has as its aim to describe the meanings that students associate to specific terms from the language, such as, “to approach,” “to tend,”“to reach,”“to exceed,” and “to converge.” Prior to the study, we reviewed the mathematical use of these terms and we contrast this with the colloquial use of the terms. From the semi- structured interviews used to gather information, we provide an analysis of the written data. It is important to highlight that students have contributed with a variety of meanings, in addition to those from the previous review. This study was performed with aid and financing from Fellowship FPU AP2010- 0906 (MEC-FEDER), project EDU2012-33030 of the National Plan for R&D&R (MICIN), Subprogram EDUC, and group FQM-193 of the 3rd Andalusia Research Plan (PAIDI)

During the last years, the relational dynamics that takes place inside and between organizations has been conceived as a resource able to contribute to the orientation and the strategic positioning of the organizations, and, as a last resort, to the support of the competitive advantages. A certain group whose most prominent characteristics are cohesion, trust, reciprocity or the frequent communication, encourages all the actors of the networks to get involved in the attainment of some common objectives, resulting in the achievement of benefits superior to those of the competition. Nevertheless, there are very few studies including evidences about how the effective management of certain characteristics and properties of the network, such as the work dynamics developed or de interaction in the group, may be useful for the operation of the work group itself and, therefore, generate performance. Thus, the objective of this work is to explain the mechanisms available for the organizations in order to manage this communication flow

Adolescents’ Emotions in Spanish Education: Development and Validation of the Social and Emotional Learning Scale

This work was funded by Porticus and the Tomillo Foundation, through the R+D+i Project entitled Evaluation of the Itinerario + Educational Model-Phase I.The aim of this study was to develop and validate a scale for measuring the different areas of competence of the social and emotional learning model in students in compulsory secondary education. For this purpose, following the recommendations and quality standards established by the specialised literature, the Social and Emotional Learning Scale was constructed and administered to a convenience sample of 1385 students in compulsory secondary education. The results reveal adequate reliability of the instrument and fairly satisfactory fit indices for the structural model proposed. In addition, external evidence is provided for the validity of the instrument with the variables life satisfaction and school performance. The Social and Emotional Learning Scale is of satisfactory metric quality and provides a detailed and consolidated picture of adolescents’ level of self-awareness, social awareness, self-control, interpersonal skills and responsible decision making, which provides students with an instrument that can help to understand their interpersonal and intrapersonal skills and to establish mechanisms for their improvement.PorticusTomillo Foundation, through the R+D+i Project entitled Evaluation of the Itinerario + Educational Model-Phase
