A brief guide to polymer characterization: structure (IUPAC technical report)
To bolster the series of Brief Guides released by International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), here we introduce the first Brief Guide to Polymer Characterization. This article provides a concise overview of characterization methods for teachers, students, non-specialists, and newcomers to polymer science as well as being a useful manual for researchers and technicians. Unlike pure low molar mass chemical substances, polymers are not composed of identical molecules. The macromolecules which comprise a single polymer sample vary from one another, primarily in terms of size and shape, but often also in the arrangement or positioning of atoms within macromolecules (e.g., chain branching, isomerism, etc.). Polymer properties are often drastically different from those of other substances and their characterization relies on specialist equipment and/or common equipment used in a specialized way (e.g., particular sample preparation or data analysis). This Brief Guide focuses uniquely on the structural characterization (i.e., analyzing the molecular and multi-molecular aspects) of polymers. The complex nature of the structural variables possible in macromolecular materials often presents a challenge with regard to the detailed structural characterization of polymers. This Brief Guide provides a useful starting point to direct the reader to the most commonly used and useful techniques to characterize these structural variables

The man and the technology - the creation of the training text
ObhájenoThis thesis deals with the creation of textbooks from the field of electricity and magnetism.
I tried to briefly introduce the origins of static electricity and magnetism, which intersects with the physics teacher in all grades of the second grade of elementary school. I also mentioned basic knowledge of DC and AC current.
In the Practical part, I created a material for repeating a narrative that would be both instructive and entertaining for children
Ruční řezačka pěnového polystyrenu
The diploma thesis „Manual polystyrene foam cutter“ deals with material properties of
polystyrene foam. The technical solution of hand cutter, which will be used for pupils of second stage
of primary school. Furthermore, principle of cutting expanded polystyrene with hot wire is presented
in this thesis
Extension for french crutches
This thesis discusses the possibility of using extensions for French crutch. This tool will provide the user better stability, not only for walking, but also as a support in many situations. After studying the history of crutches and their use at the moment, I decided use this tool in practice. Part of this thesis are technical drawings and assembly instructions for extensions of the french crutches. I would be glad if this proposal of mine taken root among the public and reached people who need this enhancement.
This is only a prototype. According to the research which I did, it would be appropriate to remove the shortcomings that I have found in this simplified construction.
Analytical approaches of identification and quantification of flavonoids
The first part of this thesis summarizes the available information about flavonoids and gives deeper insight into their classification, biosynthesis, occurrence in human diet and beneficial effects on human health. In the next part, the most widely used analytical approaches for identification and quantification of these compounds are described in detail. The aim of experimental part of this thesis was to determine the purity of two samples of flavonoid compounds - myricetin and dihydromyricetin. As the first step, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy was used. The determined wavelengths of absorbance maxima are in accordance with literary data for both compounds. Next, the reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography was used for determination of eventual impurities. The chromatographs obtained with optimized elution protocols are demonstrating the purity of both samples, corresponding to the manufacturers' certificates
Kompozity PMMA s anorganickým plnivem: interpretace vlivu struktury matrice za přítomnosti plniva
The study showed that the properties of a glassy composite with crosslinked matrix adhering to the rigid filler particles are sensitive to the polymer network structure of the matrix . It was proved by morphological, swelling and mechanical studies that the adhesion between the crosslinked poly(methyl methacrylate) matrix and the ATH filler is maintained in the swollen state and during small-strain. In the swollen state or at temperatures about 60 °C above Tg, the mechanical relaxations are relatively fast and equilibrium can be reached within approximately one hour. A model of equilibrium swelling constrained by surfaces of various geometries has been developed based on statistical thermodynamics of (Gaussian) networks
