Computational analysis of the LRRK2 interactome.
LRRK2 was identified in 2004 as the causative protein product of the Parkinson's disease locus designated PARK8. In the decade since then, genetic studies have revealed at least 6 dominant mutations in LRRK2 linked to Parkinson's disease, alongside one associated with cancer. It is now well established that coding changes in LRRK2 are one of the most common causes of Parkinson's. Genome-wide association studies (GWAs) have, more recently, reported single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) around the LRRK2 locus to be associated with risk of developing sporadic Parkinson's disease and inflammatory bowel disorder. The functional research that has followed these genetic breakthroughs has generated an extensive literature regarding LRRK2 pathophysiology; however, there is still no consensus as to the biological function of LRRK2. To provide insight into the aspects of cell biology that are consistently related to LRRK2 activity, we analysed the plethora of candidate LRRK2 interactors available through the BioGRID and IntAct data repositories. We then performed GO terms enrichment for the LRRK2 interactome. We found that, in two different enrichment portals, the LRRK2 interactome was associated with terms referring to transport, cellular organization, vesicles and the cytoskeleton. We also verified that 21 of the LRRK2 interactors are genetically linked to risk for Parkinson's disease or inflammatory bowel disorder. The implications of these findings are discussed, with particular regard to potential novel areas of investigation

Can the Ayres Spelling Scale be Relied on for Measuring the Individual Class Achievement?
Twenty words were selected at random from column Q of the Ayres Spelling Scale. These words were given as a dictated spelling test to 29 pupils in the 5th grade of the I. S. T. C. Training School. The papers were scored and it was also determined how many times each word was missed. The ten easiest words were then considered as one test and the ten most difficult words as a second test
Initiatives—Enemy of the Republic
The Seattle University Law Review\u27s Symposium on the initiative process in Washington State addresses an issue of both transcendent importance to the health of the Republic and immediate challenge to the welfare of the children of this state. This discussion could not be more timely, and not just locally. Here\u27s why. Devolution, tax cuts for the rich and the super rich, welfare reform, and a more conservative, market-oriented philosophy of government lay on the states and low income parents and children the burden of meeting the most critical needs of children-from prenatal care through college. With twenty percent of our children living in poverty and that many or more living in dysfunctional families, or in no families at all, the situation has reached crisis proportions. Enter the initiative. All along the West Coast, ill advised and ill intentioned initiatives have produced a severe crisis, albeit one obscure to many citizens. Initiatives have effectively, and in my view unconstitutionally, taken the appropriation and revenue raising responsibilities away from the legislature and passed them not to the people, as initiative supporters argue, but to special interest groups
Facing the Center: Toward an Identity Poltiics of One-To-One Mentoring
In the diversity of their clients as well as their professional and student staff, writing centers present a complicated set of relationships that inevitably affect the instruction they offer. In Facing the Center, Harry Denny unpacks the identity matrices that enrich teachable moments, and he explores the pedagogical dynamics and implications of identity within the writing center. The face of the writing center, be it mainstream or marginal, majority or miority, orthodox or subversive, always has implications for teaching and learning. Facing the Center will extend current research in writing center theory to bring it in touch with theories now common in cultural studies curricula. Denny takes up issues of power, agency, language, and meaning, and pushes his readers to ask how they themselves, or the centers in which they work, might be perpetuating cultures that undermine inclusive, progressive education.https://digitalcommons.usu.edu/usupress_pubs/1167/thumbnail.jp

Multicomponent metal-organic framework membranes for advanced functional composites.
The diverse chemical and structural properties of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) make them attractive for myriad applications, but their native powder form is limiting for industrial implementation. Composite materials of MOFs hold promise as a means of exploiting MOF properties in engineered forms for real-world applications. While interest in MOF composites is growing, research to date has largely focused on utilization of single MOF systems. The vast number of different MOF structures provides ample opportunity to mix and match distinct MOF species in a single composite to prepare multifunctional systems. In this work, we describe the preparation of three types of multi-MOF composites with poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF): (1) co-cast MOF MMMs, (2) mixed MOF MMMs, and (3) multilayer MOF MMMs. Finally, MOF MMMs are explored as catalytic membrane reactors for chemical transformations
Documentation of the analysis of the benefits and costs of aeronautical research and technology models, volume 1
The analysis of the benefits and costs of aeronautical research and technology (ABC-ART) models are documented. These models were developed by NASA for use in analyzing the economic feasibility of applying advanced aeronautical technology to future civil aircraft. The methodology is composed of three major modules: fleet accounting module, airframe manufacturing module, and air carrier module. The fleet accounting module is used to estimate the number of new aircraft required as a function of time to meet demand. This estimation is based primarily upon the expected retirement age of existing aircraft and the expected change in revenue passenger miles demanded. Fuel consumption estimates are also generated by this module. The airframe manufacturer module is used to analyze the feasibility of the manufacturing the new aircraft demanded. The module includes logic for production scheduling and estimating manufacturing costs. For a series of aircraft selling prices, a cash flow analysis is performed and a rate of return on investment is calculated. The air carrier module provides a tool for analyzing the financial feasibility of an airline purchasing and operating the new aircraft. This module includes a methodology for computing the air carrier direct and indirect operating costs, performing a cash flow analysis, and estimating the internal rate of return on investment for a set of aircraft purchase prices
Sistem Pakar Diagnosis Penyakit Ikan Lele Berbasis Web dengan Metode Forward dan Backward Chaining
Catfish farmers are in great demand because of the growing market. For maximum benefit, catfish farming is done intensively. Besides, there are also problems that arise in catfish farming. The problem is the failure of this catfish maintenance activities. The cause of the failure of this activity is because of the disease. The emergence of this disease is the result of complex interactions or unbalanced between the three components of the aquatic ecosystem of fish are weak, vicious pathogen and worsening environmental quality. The role of computers is necessary to provide information quickly, precisely and accurately. One is the development of an expert system (Expert System) which is the latest breakthrough in the world of computer
ANALISIS PENGARUH CORPORATE GOVERNANCE TERHADAP KINERJA PERUSAHAAN DAN RISIKO PERUSAHAAN Studi Pada Perusahaan Non-Keuangan yang Terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia dan Mengikuti Pemeringkatan Corporate Governance Perception Index (CGPI) Periode 2007-2011
This research aims to examine affectiveness corporate governance for firms performance and firms risk. Based on index that have been developed from certain criteria by The Indonesian Institute for Corporate Governance (IICG), examining 61 firms performance and firms risk as samples.
This research using purposive sampling method for non-financial firms that being participants of Corporate Governance Perception Index (CGPI) and listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange. This research using regression analysis.
A significant relationship was observed between CGPI as corporate governance measurement and ROI as firms performance measurement. This result showed that higher CGPI will bring higher ROI for the firms. A negative significant relationship was observed between CGPI as corporate governance measurement and total leverage as firms risk measurement. This result showed that higher CGPI will bring lower firms risk significantl
