    Caries preventive efficiency of therapeutic complex accomponying orthodontic treatment of children with initial dental caries.

    The use of orthodontic non-removable appliance in orthodontic treatment interΒ­feres with the process ofΒ  teeth mineralization, worsens level of oral cavity hygiene, stimulates development of caries process. The situation is complicated when a patient has an initial tooth decay. The aim of this study was to determine genetic characteristics of children with initial caries and clinical evaluation of effectiveness of the developed caries preventive therapeutic complex accompanying treatment of jaw facial anomalies (JFA). 47 children aged 12-14 with initial tooth decay participated in the examination. Complex diagnostics, including molecular genetic studies was carried out. Therapeutic complex for children, of the main group included remineralizing, adaptogenic, biogenic agents, which increase non-specific resistance, as well as infiltration ICON therapy before fixing braces. Caries preventive complex accompanying JFA treatment in children with primary tooth decay developed with regard to revealed genetic disorders of amelogenesis, 2-nd of phase detoxification, collagen formation, functional responses in the oral cavity, state of hard tissues of teeth and periodontal tissues enabled to preserve existing carious process, normalize periodontal and hygienic indices at all stages of treatment

    The thyroid status disturbance may be reflected on the biological processes which underlie orthodontic tooth movement. Aim of research – to study state of the oral fluid and buccal epithelium cells (BEC) in the course of a complex orthodontic treatment of children with thyroid gland diseases. In 79 children with a diffuse nontoxic goiter (DNG) of the I-III degrees, stability of oral fluid pH (Ξ”pH), rate of mobile nuclei of BEC, ratio of electrophoretic displacement range of nuclei and plasmolemms was estimated. Estimation of corresponding parameters in the initial state, in 1, 3, 6 and 8 months after fixation of the fixed orthodontic apparatus was carried out. Children of the basic group according to pathology degree in addition received a prophylactic complex including preparations: β€œVitrum Perfomens", "Teraflex", "Kalcicor", Β«Potassium iodideΒ», Β«Echinacea compositum CΒ», "Lizodent", "Osteobios". ApΒ­plication of the prophylactic complex in orthodontic treatment of children with DNG prevented growth of ΔрН after fixation of brackets. Throughout all time of supervision it promoted reduction of this rate which slightly exceeded average rate for the given age of children in 8 months. Application of this prophylactic complex already in 1 month after fixation of brackets has raised quantity of mobile BEC nuclei by 44% and by 1,64 times has increased the relation of ranges of plasmolemms and nuclei displacement. In 8 months of supervision percent of mobile nuclei BEC and the relation of Apl/Aya in the basic group was by 2 times more, than in a comparison group, approaching to average rate. Π‘hildren with thyroid gland diseases need active treatment-and-prophylactic measures at stages of active apparatus treatment. The developed therapeutic complexes of orthodontic treatment of maxillo-dental anomalies in children with DNG allows to effectively support and improve functional reactions in the organism and in the oral cavity, compensating stressful action of fixed orthodontic apparatuses

    COUNSELLING FOR MITIGATING THE PSYCHO-SOCIAL TRAUMA OF FLOOD DISASTER VICTIMS

    Psycho-social trauma comes about when a traumatic event overloads an individual’s capacity to cope with his or her usual emotional state.  Psycho-social trauma cannot be predicted based on the events that precede them.  Flood is an environmental hazard that occurs naturally and relatively sudden as a result of climate change.  It happens in a devastating way and are brought down in good numbers. The resultant effects are particularly damaging in terms of properties and other economic/income generation structures.  The focus of this work is on the psychosocial wellbeing of the victims.  There is an assumption that women are more likely to suffer disproportionately in most disasters more especially flood, thee is hence they are more vulnerable due to minimal access to source of emergency.  The core concept here is to prevent stress disorder in the victims of flood and provide coping interventions for traumatized people from the aftermath of major flood disaster leading to displacement from homes and work place.  Most flood victims make more emotional investment and are more likely to experience more post traumatic stress disorder associated with flood and consequently become more devastated emotionally and psycho-socially as it happens.  The authors hold a strong view that if psycho-social therapy is applied to victims irrespective of standing, it will remove ugly memories of the disturbance; extinguish the fears associated with the stressful events especially that which relates to re-location and loss of victims’ property.  The conclusion implies an integrative approach involving experts from diverse field of human being endeavours particularly counselors who are expected to mitigate victims’ state of depression, anxiety and other flood inducing.&nbsp

    Summary. Pathological changes in the periodontium are directly dependent on the violation of fat metabolism, which is one of the main components of the metabolic syndrome.The aim of the study – to determine the main indicators of fatty body mass of patients with chronic generalized periodontitis and metabolic syndrome.Materials and Methods. The study involved patients with diagnoses of chronic generalized periodontitis and metabolic syndrome. Patients of the main group received a treatment and prophylactic complex 2 times a year, normalizing fat metabolism, protein assimilation, reducing cholesterol and normalizing metabolism. The main indicators of fat metabolism were evaluated in patients with bioimpedance analyzers of the body composition components ABC-01 Medass (Russia) and OMRON BF511 (Japan).Results and Discussion. The results of the research of the main indicators of fat metabolism in the patient's body are presented as averaged percentage deviation from the norm, which was calculated for each particular patient according to the average statistical indicators, taking into account age, weight, height and specific basic metabolismConclusions. In patients with chronic generalized periodontitis on a background of metabolic syndrome, there was a significant excess of the norm of the main indicators of fat metabolism in the body. Use of the developed therapeutic and prophylactic complex led to a certain normalization of the fat mass that correlated with improvement of dental status.РСзюмС.     Disturbances of the thyroid status may be negatively reflected on the biological processes underlying orthodontic tooth movement. Research object – in experiment to estimate efficacy of application of drug complex with osteotropic and immunomodulating action in orthodontic moving of teeth (ОМT) on the background of euthyroid goiter. InΒ  75 rats of Vistar line of gregarious breeding (females, 5 months, 210Β±28 g) experimental goiter was modeled by injection of 1% perchlorate potassium solution with drinking water within 20 days. Intragastric solution of potassium Iodidum (PI) in the dose of 20 mkg/kg was introduced to rats of the 3rd, 4th and 5th groups from the 22nd day. IntragastricallyΒ  drug Β«Echinacea compositum CΒ» was introduced to animals of the 3rd and 5th groups from the 22nd day during 5 days. OMT was reproduced on the 29th day from the beginning of experiment. On the background of PI injection, teraflex in a dose on glucosaminglican of 750 mg/kg was introduced to the rats of the 4th and 5th groups. A mandible for calculation of carious cavities and definition of atrophy degree of an alveolar process, and the maxilla – for definition of alkaline activity, acidic phosphatase, elastase and general proteolytic activity (GPA), pulp of incisors – for phosphatases definition of activity were isolated. Echinacea compositum, potassium Iodidum and teraflex in the idea of monotherapy causedΒ  some positive influence on phosphatases of an alveolar bone. To completely prevent disturbances of activity of bone phosphatases and proteinases was possibly only at application of a full complex: PΠ† – throughout all treatment, echinacea compositum C – before fixation of closing springs, teraflex – after fixation.
