La metodología comparatista en los estudios literarios

This article is a first essay of classification of the main terms and concepts related to the methodology of Comparative Literature. The material is organized in three different sections. In the first section we proceed to some brief terminological and conceptual preliminary clarifications about the Comparison and Comparative Literature as a discipline. The second part describes the first comparative operation, namely the one inherent to the delimitation of the objects to be compared. The third and final part deals with the mode of comparison in its different conceptual and terminological concretions. In our analysis we have taken into account the main manuals of Comparative Literature, as well as other theoretical works about the methodology, the theory or the history of the discipline.Es el presente artículo un primer ensayo de clasificación de los principales términos y conceptos relativos a la metodología de la Literatura comparada. Se organiza el material en tres diferentes secciones. En la primera se procede a unas breves aclaraciones terminológicas y conceptuales preliminares acerca del comparatismo y la Literatura comparada como disciplina. En la segunda parte se describe la primera operación comparatista, a saber, la inherente a la delimitación de los objetos a comparar. En la tercera y última parte se trata el modo de comparación en sus diferentes concreciones conceptuales y terminológicas. En nuestro análisis se han tenido en cuenta los principales manuales de Literatura comparada, así como otras obras teóricas acerca de la metodología, la teoría o la historia de la disciplina.

In the last few years, new studies and editions about the works of Andrés have appeared: they open a new interesting perspective of research to re-evaluate the existence and relevance of Spanish Enlightenment, especially in relation to the Spanish Universalist School, a group of authors, mostly Hispanic Jesuits exiled in Italy, sharing the same comparative concept of History and knowledge in general

Juan Andrés, Carta sobre la música árabe (editada por Torderini)

Analysis, facsimile reproduction and translation of Juan Andrés’ «Letter on Arab Music», dated Mantua, March 29, 1785, addressed to Giambattista Toderini and published in his Letteratura turchesca (1787). All the oriental knowledge is condensed in this small letter which, with the help of Miguel Casiri, allows the Valencian Jesuit to begin the academic studies on Arab music. Supported by an al-Fārābī manuscript, the goal of the epistle is to validate in musicological terms the influence of Arab musical art on European music, and in general the ‘Arab Thesis’ presented in the first volume of his Dell’Origine, progressi e stato attuale d’ogni letteratura.Estudio, reproducción facsímil y traducción de la «Carta sobre la música árabe» de Juan Andrés, fechada en Mantua, a 29 de marzo de 1785, dirigida a Giambattista Toderini y publicada por éste en su obra Letteratura turchesca (1787). Se condensa en esta breve carta todo el saber oriental que, de la mano de Miguel Casiri, permite iniciar al jesuita valenciano los estudios académicos sobre la música árabe. Apoyado en un manuscrito de al-Fārābī, la epístola tiene como objeto refrendar en términos musicológicos la influencia del arte musical de los árabes en la música europea, y de forma general la ‘tesis árabe’ expuesta en el primer volumen de su Dell’Origine, progressi e stato attuale d’ogni letteratura
