    Get PDF
Introduction: Prematurity is the leading cause of neonatal mortality, however, the survival of preterm infants is guaranteed. Prolonged exposure to numerous sensory stimuli during early neonatal intensive care units contributes to the increased likelihood of organic and/or psychological sequelae. Objectives: Identify the best measures to minimize the impact that the sensorial environment of neonatal intensive care units has on the development of premature newborns. Methods: An integrative literature review was carried out in CINAHL, PubMed and MEDLINE databases, according to the PICOD methodology (participants, intervention, context, results and design). Results: The analysis of the 6 articles included in the study showed a set of environmental measures to be included in the care of premature newborns. The main recommendations mentioned were organized into categories, namely, physical environment, sensory environment, technology and parental training. Conclusion: From this review emerges the need to define consistent and consensual strategies for the optimization of the therapeutic environment in neonatal intensive care units

Esta técnica demonstrou ser eficaz na resolução da otite média e apresentou bom prognóstico.ABSTRACT - Canine otitis media – Retrospective evaluation of culture results and antimicrobial susceptibility in 21 cases of total ear canal ablation with bulla osteotomy in dogs - Total ear canal ablation with bulla osteotomy is used in the treatment of otitis media. Microbial isolation in the bulla, antimicrobial susceptibility, TC findings, postoperative complications and prognosis of dogs submitted to total ear canal ablation with lateral bulla osteotomy were studied. In the tympanic bulla, there were 76% positive cultures. The most common microorganisms isolated from tympanic bulla were Proteus spp (4/16), Staphylococcus spp (3/16), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (3/16) e E. coli (3/16). Some differences were observed in the isolation pattern between the tympanic bulla and the ear canal in 88,9% of the animals. High frequency of resistance to penicillin and tetracyclines were found and the aminoglycoside group showed the highest efficacy frequency, along with third generation cephalosporins and chloramphenicol. In 45% of the cases, multidrug resistance was detected. No associations were found between tomographic changes and complications. The prognosis was good and the surgery was good in the resolution of otitis media.N/

Environmental Justice: A Case of Socio-environmental Vulnerability in Rio de Janeiro

Environmental justice addresses the unequal environmental burden often borne by minorities and low-income populations. In Brazil, many studies confirm extreme socio-environmental inequities in urban areas. Analysis based on socio-environmental vulnerability allows us to understand the intra-urban spatial distribution of socio-environmental differences and to provide insight for the development of planning policies that enhance the capacity of communities to respond to multiple risks (social, environmental, etc.) (Mendonça, 2004). This study examines the levels of socio-environmental vulnerability in the Jacarepaguá lowlands of Rio de Janeiro, taking into account the existing strengths and limitations of public administrations in their efforts to balance private and public interests in regards to environmental justice.

Gradient-like nonlinear semigroups with infinitely many equilibria and applications to cascade systems

    Get PDF
We consider an autonomous dynamical system coming from a coupled system in cascade where the uncoupled part of the system satisfies that the solutions comes from −∞ and goes to ∞ to equilibrium points, and where the coupled part generates asymptotically a gradient-like nonlinear semigroup. Then, the complete model is proved to be also gradient-like. The interest of this extension comes, for instance, in models where a continuum of equilibrium points holds, and for example a Lojasiewicz-Simon condition is satisfied. Indeed, we illustrate the usefulness of the theory with several examples.Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São PauloConselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e TecnológicoCoordenação de aperfeiçoamento de pessoal de nivel superiorMinisterio de Ciencia e InnovaciónJunta de AndalucíaMinisterio de Educació

Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Knowledge Management and Business IntelligenceIn a fast pace changing globe, where quality and security is a must have and the threads are new every day, companies and IT administrations still doubt about the benefits in running a cloud-based technology and stick with local systems which can be expensive in Cybersecurity and vulnerable at their own risk. This thesis aims to provide guidance and understanding of the key factors that serve as a foundation for the process of migrating a system to a cloud-based software. There are three main types of cloud computing service models and in this thesis is only considered SaaS, also known as Software-as-a-Service. The focus is to demystify some ghosts regarding cloud-based technology, through a comprehensive Model Migration proposal with step-to-step indications, based on a thorough Methodology which is supported by a Literature Review to clarify and justify the decisions made

    House price cycles in Europe

This Project uses data for GDP and real housing prices for twelve European countries plus the United States to study the relationship between the housing market and GDP cycles. The main findings suggest that there is evidence of a strong relationship between the two cycles for most of the countries analysed. Moreover, an analysis of the relationship between the Portuguese economy and other European economies is also performed for the two cycles. This analysis shows that there is a strong correlation between the European economies when the GDP is used as benchmark and that this correlation decreases when the housing market is considered
