The deflationary effect of oil prices in the euro area
The inflationary effect of oil price has been widely examined by academic literature. Nowadays, the main concern in the euro area (E.A.) is its deflationary effect. In this paper we propose a method to evaluate the effect of oil price changes on inflation as well as an indicator of inflation adjusted for the short-term effect of oil prices, which is aimed to assess the risk of deflation in real time. We illustrate the practical applications of these tools by predicting the evolution of inflation in the E.A., conditional to different scenarios of oil price deflation. Our main finding is that no deflationary scenario for oil prices results in a negative inflation rate forecast for December 2016, despite oil price variation accounting for 25% of the variance of changes in inflation
Psoriasis vulgaris: Relationship between oral and periodontal conditions and disease severity
Psoriasis is distributed across the world with a prevalence ranging from 0.5% to 4.6% [1, 2]. This condition has been associated with other diseases, or comorbidities, such as oral cavity involvement, including oral lesions and periodontal disease, thus reaffirming that this is a systemic disease [3, 4]. Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory disease which is characterized by the exaggerated proliferation of keratinocytes as a result of immune system activation through T lymphocytes in focal cutaneous areas [5, 6].
In most cases of psoriasis, oral lesions are associated with the presence of geographic and fissured tongue, although data show an increased frequency of associations with generalized pustular psoriasis [7]. It has been estimated that the actual prevalence of fissured tongue and geographic tongue is 6 - 33% and 1-18%, respectively, suggesting that these might represent different expressions of the same disease [7]. However, there is no consensus of the clinical description of what could be considered an oral psoriatic lesion, oral evaluation, or examination, is not a regular procedure in patients with psoriasis [7, 8]. Oral lesions are generally asymptomatic, although there might be tongue swelling and pain when deep fissures are formed [7, 8]. Furthermore, bad tongue hygiene can cause halitosis and tissue swelling due to the accumulation of food residues in fissures, thus causing burning and stinging, especially after contact. However, this association is debatable because it is not known if such oral manifestations are a symptom of disease severity or represent an expression of the disease itself [8].
On the other hand, periodontal disease is marked by an exaggerated response of the immune system to oral microbiota, making it a chronic inflammatory disease which is mediated immunologically, in which immune cells cause inflammation and cellular destruction [9].
Although the two pathologies are similar from the immunological aspect, some characteristics still render them separate diseases and there is no real association known between them [10, 11]. New research has shown that both psoriasis and periodontal disease have both experienced increased prevalence worldwide, and have been associated with other diseases and comorbidities, thus reconfirming that these are, indeed, systemic diseases [12, 13]. There are no existing reports in the published literature which describe the prevalence and frequency of psoriasis and periodontal disease in Colombia. We considered that it was very important for such clinical data to be available because we believe that appropriate examinations should be carried out on all patients with psoriasis, who may have multiple associated comorbidities. We also believe that such examinations should be performed on a regular basis. Furthermore, it is not yet known if the diagnosis of oral psoriasis should be made when lesions in the oral cavity present by themselves, or only at the same time as skin symptoms develop. Consequently, in this study, we aimed to investigate the association between periodontal diagnosis, microbiological components, the presence of IgG against Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis), and the clinical manifestations of psoriasis
Hearing family, silent children: Approaches to sexuality in deaf adolescents
This paper describes the results of the qualitative phase of a mixed research process of a sequential explanatory type, which aimed to explore the family factors that affect the sexual education of deaf adolescents and their influence on the processes of socio-affective interaction. Ten adolescents and their parents participated in a survey and a semi-structured interview. The findings show a limited conception of sexuality on the part of the adolescents, focusing exclusively on sex and genitality, with communication being the family factor that most affects the approach to the subject between hearing parents and deaf children due to the linguistic discontinuity that characterizes their dynamics. For its comprehension, the intervention of a linguistic model was necessary.
This model, through extensions, would lead adolescents to understand the differences between sexuality, sex and socio-affective interaction.
[Abstract]
In soccer, the variables of strength, speed and flexibility are associated with the athletic performance capacity of athletes, being these determinants not only to adapt to the demands of the competition, but at the same time flexibility can help to reduce the risk of injury. The aim of the study was to determine the effect on strength and speed after reducing muscle shortening. This is a quantitative study with an observational-analytical cross-sectional design. The evaluated sample consisted of 22 under-13 category players with an average age of 13.40±0.66 years, a height of 156.95±9.27 cm, and a body mass of 44.54±7.29 kg. They were randomly divided into a control group (n=10) and an experimental group (n=12). The experimental group underwent an 8-week intervention involving static stretches, incorporating the Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation method in the fourth week to decrease muscle shortening before the post-test. Knee extension and dorsiflexion were assessed using a goniometer, and physical abilities were measured through the My Jump Lab app, including Squat Jump, Counter Movement Jump, Counter Movement Jump with Arms, the Nordics hamstring test, and speed in 10, 20, and 30 meters using the Runmatic app. Significant results (p<0.05) were observed for jump height in Squat Jump, jump height, flight time, and speed in Counter Movement Jump, torque in the Nordics test, and speed in 30 meters. According to the findings of the present study it seems that flexibility influences vertical jumping ability and speed.[Resumen]

We develop a small open economy model with nominal rigidities and fragmented labor markets to study the response of the monetary policy to a migration shock. Migrants are characterized by their productivity levels, their restrictions to accumulate capital, as well as by the flexibility of their labor income. Our results show that the monetary policy response depends on the characteristics of migrants and the local labor market. An inflow of low(high)-productivity workers reduces(increases) marginal costs, lowers(raises) inflation expectations and pushes the Central Bank to reduce(increase) the interest rate. The model is calibrated to the Colombian economy and used to analyze a migratory inflow of financially constraint workers from Venezuela into a sector with flexible and low wages.

Research results applied to the field of health: how experience impacts the classroom and society
The Health Sciences Faculty of the Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira has been
advancing in the generation of new knowledge and has explored various fields of
knowledge.
This book presents four pieces of research that have a lot to do with new trends, both in
the training of human talent in health, and in the way in which knowledge and technology
are applied to solutions to context problems.
In this case, it is important to mention the role that high-fidelity clinical simulation has
been gaining in the training processes of our students, more specifically the use of
theater and the “standardized patients” strategy, in the promotion of professional
criteria. The positive impact of a focused training is evident, both in the conceptual
development of the individual, and in the appropriation of his role as an agent of social
change. The theater promotes an intentional interaction with which knowledge, skills
and attitudes can be explored in a medical training process.
Likewise, theater has been used as a useful tool in the introduction of therapeutic
elements in hospital spaces, such as pediatric, oncology or mental health wards,
promoting various ways of interacting with medical staff, or exploring personal aspects.
that can improve the clinical evolution of patients.
Clinical simulation also contemplates a series of technological elements that, when used
for educational purposes, can also promote performance analysis of cognitive,
technical, and dexterity skills. This is the case of the clinical simulation put to the service
of a CPR skills analysis project, in which, through sensors and performance variables
such as force, pressure or response time, they can account for advances in CPR training
processes, both for university communities and for health professionals.PregradoCONTENT
