    Three dimensional asset documentation using terrestrial laser scanner technology

    Asset documentation is a detailed record or inventory of the properties located within a room or a building. It is important to record the assets in case of property loss happen inside the premise especially when that premise caught fire, earthquake, robbery and others. The instrument used in this study is Faro Laser Scanner Photon 120/20. The object of the study is the computer room of Photogrammetry Lab, Faculty of Geoinformation and Real Estate. The final output of this study is the 3D model of the assets available inside the building. Before 3D model can be formed, the scanned data which is in the form of point cloud generated from the laser scanner have to be registered and georeferenced in order to combine the scans. The combine scans is the representation of the whole area of work surveyed from every scan points. These processes use Faro Scene, software that comes together with the laser scanner. By introducing this method, large scale asset documentation such as for factories and schools would be very beneficial rather than conventional method. The next process is to model the point cloud using AutoCAD 2011. Every item available on the room such as desks, chairs, cubicles, computers, whiteboard, projectors and cupboard are modeled and each of these items was inserted with attributes so that we can know the information of each item

    Family, archive, and the posttraumatic imaginary: an analysis of the role of archival material in the personal documentaries stories we tell, the Imam and I, and grandpa Ernest speaks

    My short documentary, Grandpa Ernest Speaks (2021), is the creative research portion of my master's degree submission. The film is heavily influenced by post-structuralist theory regarding the archive as an experiential entity as well as posttraumatic cinema discourse (in particular, Joshua Hirsch's phases of posttraumatic cinema). This critical reflection therefore investigates the intersection of these two theoretical paradigms: looking at how archival materials may specifically be used in personal documentary films dealing with family/ancestral trauma and posttraumatic memory, and positing that these films' engagement with the archive fits into the larger framework of posttraumatic cinema. I reflect on Grandpa Ernest Speaks in conversation with two other personal posttraumatic documentaries, The Imam and I (dir. Khalid Shamis, South Africa, 2011) and Stories We Tell ( dir. Sarah Polley, Canada, 2012). I conduct a semiotic and content analysis of portions of all three films in order to both situate them within the posttraumatic imaginary-specifically, within Hirsch's second phase-and examine the role of the archive and artefacts in each. In doing so, I confront the question of record vs. representation in documentary, and argue that-in the archival-based posttraumatic documentary-the distinction between the two lies in the way that the artefact is interpreted or contextualised via meta-textual captioning. This study demonstrates that posttraumatic memory may be nonlinear and non-chronological. The analysis of my film and the two additional case study films examines how this complication of past and present, archival and contemporary, is articulated onscreen: conveying the transmutation of memory as well as the ongoing and self-reflexive act of contributing to the familial archive

    WCDMA multiclass downlink capacity and interference statistics of cigar-shaped microcells in highways

    The final publication is available at Springer via http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11277-013-1048-5In this paper, the multiclass downlink capacity and the interference statistics of the sectors of a cigar-shaped microcells using wideband code-division multiple-access with soft handover mode are analyzed. The two-slope propagation model with log-normal shadowing is used in the analysis where a model of 8 cigar-shaped microcells is utilized. The performance of the downlink is studied for different [sector range R, standard deviation of the shadowing (σ1 and σ2) and propagation exponents (s1 and s2)]. It is found that increasing the sector range from 500 to 1,000 m will increase the sector downlink capacity. Also, it is found that increasing the value of the propagation parameters (σ1 and σ2) will reduce the downlink sector capacity. It is noticed that, the effect of changing the propagation exponent s1 is null while increasing the propagation exponent s2 will increase the downlink capacit

An understanding of the managerial styles of leaders is imperative to the long-term success and influence of an international corporation. This paper will introduce the managerial styles of executives from U.S and Chinese based companies and point out the variations in style that exist. Information received from interviews with Chinese and U.S managers will assist in determining the differences between each style. The synthesis of qualitative research analysis and scholarly data will aid in forming the argument as to whether both styles can coexist in harmony despite their differences

    Effect of Antenna’s Gain, Polarization and Channel Bandwidth on Short Range Directive Channel Propagation Loss in Indoor Environment at 5.6 GHz Band

The directive channel propagation loss in indoor environment at a frequency band of 5.6 GHz with a channel bandwidth of 300 and 20 MHz is measured using both vertical and horizontal polarizations. Sets of directive panel antennas are used in the measurements. RF signal generator and a spectrum analyzer are used in the measurement campaign. It is found that propagation loss is sensitive to the scenario configuration. It is noticed that the propagation loss can be modelled by two slopes propagation model giving a rise to two propagation zones. It is noticed that the first zone of propagation is almost free space propagation zone. In general, the second zone has a higher deviation from the mean value of propagation loss
